3 men missing in same Toronto ON neighborhood, 2010-2012

I wonder where the apartment Ghalban was found in is in relation to the "side-by-side apartments" mentioned in this article re the 200 Wellesley addy:

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/201...e_torontos_most_ominous_address_dimanno.html#

...But why have three — at least — gone out and over, in side-by-side apartments?

...But few seem unduly alarmed by the ghastly pattern that has developed of individuals either taking their own lives or slipping accidentally off side-by-side balconies. Either those units possess some kind of bizarre attraction for people seeking to do themselves fatal harm or the activities that take place therein are suspicious and dangerous. Something is tragically amiss. It’s too much of a coincidence.

From sillybilly's news link.
"It’s unlikely some psychology doctorate out there is doing a dissertation on it, but 200 Wellesley is a freakishly menacing and macabre address, worthy of a Stephen King novel."

Powerful article about some truly freaky and tragic happenings.
Maybe the sort of place victims are enticed to visit..fewer questions asked later..jmo.

Bumping with this article posted by KateB on a missing in Toronto, Kenyan woman's thread, in case there is a connection.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/life...-beautiful-sarah-ombija-says/article22180508/

"Arriving in Toronto from Kenya, where being gay is considered “unnatural,” immoral and taboo, Sarah Ombija was able to live openly as a bisexual woman for the first time this year. Homosexuality remains criminalized in Kenya, where same-sex sexual acts can be punished with a maximum penalty of 14 years’ imprisonment. In August, a bill advocating for life imprisonment for gay sex acts among Kenyans and death by stoning for foreigners was struck down. LGBTQI people are routinely harassed, extorted and attacked. Ombija, a 35-year-old fashion designer and gay-rights activist, spoke with The Globe about living in secret in Nairobi and coming out in Toronto."

Three men disappeared from Toronto’s gay village under mysteriously similar circumstances. Years later, we still have no idea what happened.

[h=1]The mysterious, unsolved, case of three men who went missing from Toronto’s gay village[/h] By Justin Ling on Jun 9, 2017
It took police another few months to draw a conclusion: It was a pattern. Three middle-aged men, all brown-skinned, disappeared in virtually identical circumstances over the course of two years. If it’s a mere coincidence, it’s an extraordinary one. Police dedicated a massive effort to solving the mystery. A team of investigators checked bank and cellphone records, canvassed the gay community, and appealed to the public. Nothing came of it. Armchair detectives from around the world congregate online to try and pull apart the case and find ledes ignored or unnoticed by police. It led to nowhere.
One theory that seems to connect the dots — the fact that three men, of similar skin tone, age, and sexual orientation went missing without a trace within two years — in any satisfying, albeit disquieting way, is that Toronto’s gay village had a serial killer.
Which leads to an even more unnerving question.
Does it still?
[h=2]“It’s quite unusual”[/h]

But perhaps the most crucial piece of evidence that appears to have gone unchecked by investigators surrounds Faizi’s abandoned car.

The sedan was discovered on Moore Avenue, a stretch of road that runs just a few blocks, alongside the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, through a well-to-do neighbourhood outside the downtown core, and at the head of the Beltline Trail, a leafy path that was once a railway. It was exactly the opposite direction from Faizi’s family home.

The South Bayview Bulldog, a community newspaper, hypothesized of the case: “It was a good place to dump a car without being seen.”

However, there is another possibility that has not been mentioned in the press nor in any police material provided to VICE News: That Faizi parked his car on the quiet street and walked down into the Beltline Trail, looking for sex.

“This is a tree covered jogging trail and is very secluded,” reads a posting to a gay hookup site describing the trail. “Beltline is very busy at night.”

The disappearance of a Cabbagetown man has been highlighted on social media as one of several LGBTQ men who have gone missing since 2010. Police would not say whether the cases are connected. (Facebook/Justin Toast Gray)

Zhu Jian “Frank” Wang, 25, has been missing since May 23. Wang was last seen near Yonge and Gerrard streets.

Fifty-eight-year-old Mark Pearson has been missing since June 29 and was last spotted in the city’s east end, near Queen Street East and Wheeler Avenue.

Three others – 42-year-old Abdulbasier “Basir” Faizi, 58-year-old Majeed “Hamid” Kayhan and 40-year-old Skanda Navaratnam – all disappeared from Toronto’s Village near Church and Wellesley streets between 2010 and 2012.

Police would not say whether the cases are connected.

Piecing together the story of three missing men from Toronto’s gay village

Two of the three men likely lived closeted lives

By Andrea Houston Jun 08, 2013,
rbbm.

Skandaraj “Skanda” Navaratnam, 40, went missing on Sept 16, 2010, after leaving Zipperz with an unknown man

Abdulbasir “Basir” Faizi, 44, went missing on Dec 29, 2010. His vehicle was found abandoned in the Village, which is also where he was last seen. According to police, his bank records show he last used his debit card at the Hero Burger on Church Street.

Majeed “Hamid” Kayhan was last seen on Oct 14, 2012

Khaki cautions police against ethnically profiling the men based on the colour of their skin or their “lifestyle.” The three men are actually not “ethnically similar,” he says. Rather, they share a similar skin colour.

“The key connection for us is that all three disappeared from the Church and Wellesley area, they have family and friends who are concerned about them, and everything that we’ve done from the onset, there is nothing that tells us where these three people are,” she says.

She says it’s unusual for missing-persons cases to be outstanding for this long. “We have also been looking at missing-person cases across Canada.”

Khaki says police should continue to expand the search by looking at cold cases and outstanding missing-person reports, in Toronto areas outside the Village and beyond

I don’t think it’s problematic that police are looking at all possibilities, but I think they need to cast their net a little bit wider,” he says. “Start looking to see if other people have been reported missing from other areas. If there’s people connected to this community and also living closeted lives, the person who reports them missing could change how it is investigated.”

These missing men cases are not necessarily related to men missing from the
" Village ", in recent news. Just noting.

Links to the threads concerning the other missing men. AGAIN, no connection has been established at this time to the three missing men referenced on this thread.

Police task force established to help find missing men
]Flyers have been posted throughout the Church and Wellesley area, asking for information on the disappearance of Andrew Kinsman and Selim Esen.

As many as six to seven officers will be dedicated to trying to solve the mystery, a “rare” step according to one police detective.
There’s been no trace of Kinsman, 49, since June 26th and his disappearance is completely out of character, according to his friends.

Esen, 43, hasn’t been seen since April 15th.

The gay community has set up a Facebook page called “Toronto’s Missing 2LGBTQA*”.

The last time 51 Division set up a task for was following the disappearance of three men from the village between 2010 and 2012. All three were deemed suspicious and connected. The three have never been found.

Police have not been able to rule out the possibility that this cold case is connected in any way to the most recent disappearance.
Police are expected to hold a town hall meeting with the gay community next week to address the growing fears and concerns.

They all disappeared during holidays:

Skandaraj “Skanda” Navaratnam, 40 — September 6, 2010 (Monday) Labour Day

Abdulbasir “Basir” Faizi, 44 — December 29, 2010 (Wednesday) Christmas/New Year’s week

Majeed “Hamid” Kayhan, 58 — October 14, 2012 (Sunday) Canadian Thanksgiving

Bumping Unscripted's astute obsevation about the holidays seemingly associated with the disappearances.
Sadly adding these not necessarily related coincidences.
