The search continued for Jason Landry. It has been a difficult week for all involved. Local authorities are working hard and the TEXSAR team is out in full force today.

A huge thank you to the TEXSAR members that have traveled from all over the State throughout the week to support this case. The Landry family remains heavy on our hearts. We continue to stay positive as we move forward.

Search continues for missing Texas State student who crashed car while returning home from school

County officials told the Statesman his car went off the road and spun out, though it’s unclear what caused the crash.

“The car got off the road and spun around, and the back driver-side trunk, bumper and the side of the car took most of the impact,” Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Deon Cockrell said in an interview.

Landry is believed to have left the scene of the crash on foot. Multiple law enforcement agencies have conducted ground and air searches all week and have yet to locate him.

We don’t know if he got out alive, or he walked it out,” Cockrell told the Statesman. “We’re still actively searching at this time.”

Nearly a week after his disappearance, search for missing Texas State student continues

“Assisted by Texas Search and Rescue, deputies with Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office combed through a rural area of the county near Luling. "They had planes, horses, search teams, dogs," explained Jason Landry’s father, Kent Landry.

Early Monday morning Jason Landry’s car was found on 2365 Salt Flat Road. Law enforcement believes he was involved in a single-car crash. The road is gravel and runs through an oil field. It parallels Highway 86. "He probably just wasn’t paying attention, missed a turn and wound up on that cold dark road," said Kent Landry.”

Missing Texas State student Jason Landry’s abandoned car did not cause immediate concern; police work to overcome early investigative delays

Authorities reportedly believe that Landry walked away from the single-car wreck on the gravel road surrounded by oil fields, but what happened after that remains a mystery. Investigators found some of Landry’s possessions, including his wallet and cell phone, at the crash site, but it remains unclear if the personal items were inside or outside the car. An extensive, multi-agency search of the area has not yet turned up any sign of the missing young man.
