“An earlier version of this story stated that authorities were seeking two men: A suspect and a witness, separately. That was based on an inaccurate report published by a local news outlet; a report that appears to have misinterpreted statements made at a press conference Thursday. Webb-McRae confirmed to CrimeOnline that she relayed the corrected information to that outlet and expects the local report to be updated/corrected.“
All out search for 5-year old Dulce Maria Alavez continues tonight. We were there when a cop checked this red van for any signs of her near Bridgeton City Park. @NBCPhiladelphia at 11pm
"Alavez Perez is five months pregnant and the father of that child was picked up by Immigration and Customs Enforcement after he was interviewed about the disappearance, she said. ICE officials confirmed Friday that he has been released, but declined to comment on why he had been held. Officials at Friday’s briefing also declined to discuss the matter."
Authorities, who have been searching for Dulce since Monday, widened their search Friday, and returned to the 1,000-acre park where she was last seen.
Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gaimari said investigators are going over spots they had already searched, and expanding the search area.
“The only reason for that is to cover our tracks again where we searched and then expand the search even farther,” Giamari said.
As for suspects, the search continues.
“We do not have any strong suspects at this time and we’re doing a lot of interviews,” Gaimari said, estimating that police have conducted about 75 interviews so far.
She described changes in behavior she wants you to look for, including suddenly missing work or appointments since Monday, increasing alcohol consumption, abruptly discarding clothes or even a vehicle, or leaving town without an explanation.
"According to a timeline provided by police, the four then headed from the convenience store to the park, arriving shortly after 4 p.m. Dulce and her brother went to the playground while the 8-year-old relative and Dulce’s mother waited in the car."
About 10 minutes later, Dulce’s brother returned to the car crying to say his sister had disappeared.
