MI MI - Kimberly King, 12, Warren, 16 Sept 1979

[h=1]Police search northern Macomb County for body in decades-long cold case[/h]
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) - Warren Police and the FBI are conducting a search in Macomb Township.

The search is being conducted in the area of 23 Mile and North Avenue.
The search is part of a case out of Warren. Police say they are covering area along the creek in search for bodies that may have been dumped there.
We are also being told that the search may be connected to the Kimberly King case, a 12-year-old who went missing in the late 1979.
All Warren Police will say is that they are searching a large area and they began early Monday morning.

The FBI is not commenting, deferring to Warren Police.

The search is near where the body of Cindy Zarzycki was found 10 years ago. Zarzycki disappeared in the 1980s. Arthur Ream was convicted of her murder and is serving life in prison.

Police search for body of girl missing since 1979, believe property might be 'burial site' for 4 other victims

The body of a young girl who disappeared nearly 40 years ago -- and the remains of perhaps four other victims -- could be uncovered Tuesday as authorities continue a desperate dig at a vacant Michigan farm that officials believe may have been a burial ground for a potential serial killer.

A spokesman for a task force led by the Warren Police Department confirmed to Fox News that cops are searching a property in Macomb Township for the remains of Kimberly King, a 12-year-old who was reported missing in September 1979.

The spokesman said officials believe the location is also the burial ground for at least four other teenage girls.

“It’s bittersweet, but by finding those remains we might bring closure to these families,” Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer told Fox News.

Who else is missing from this general area that they could be searching for?

Names I've heard include Kellie Marie Brownlee and Kim Larrow.

Kim Larrow, Kim King and Cyndi Zarzycki could be sisters. They look startlingly similar.

Brownlee, a 17 y/o brunette seems a bit old for him.

Also, Larrow (Canton) and Brownlee (Novi) seem way out of his hunting grounds.

The distance from the location Kimberly made her phone call to the location that they are searching is around 20 miles: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Hoo...64dd1419a173c0!2m2!1d-82.8777917!2d42.6734807

The site, located near 23 Mile Road and North Avenue in Warren, is in the same area where police found the remains of 13-year-old Cindy Zarzycki in 2008. Convicted child murderer Arthur Nelson Ream led police to Zarzycki's body.

Other cold cases that could be connected to Ream include Kellie Brownlee, from Novi, who was 17 when she disappeared in 1982; and Kim Larrow, who disappeared from Canton Township in 1981 at the age of 15, WDIV reported.

LIVE: Officials resume dig in Macomb Township where several bodies could be buried

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. - Digging will resume Tuesday in Macomb Township as authorities search for clues in several cold cases dating back to the 1970s.

Crews are set to return to work about 7 a.m. for a second day of digging on a property near 23 Mile Road and North Avenue. The area is wooded and situated along the North Branch Clinton River.
Officials said they expect to find something Tuesday. They believe as many as six bodies could be buried in the same location.

Now authorities are working on a tip to search that same area in connection to three other cold cases that may be connected to Ream:

  • The case of 12-year-old Kimberly King, from Warren, who disappeared in 1979
  • The disappearance of Kellie Brownlee, from Novi, when she was 17 in 1982
  • The case of Kim Yarrow, who disappeared from Canton Township in 1981, when she was 15

Their remains could be buried along this wooded riverbank in Macomb Township.

OMG, now they are saying 6 bodies! :scared:

I hope they can find them ALL and bring closure to the families.

My God, what if they find Carolyn and Mark Martin? That would be amazing. Just, breathtaking.

I've been tweeting at news agencies all morning that it's "Kim Larrow" not "Kim Yarrow" Fox News changed it (woot)

[h=1]Police search for 4 to 6 girls, long-missing, possibly buried in Mich. woods[/h]
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Police are digging in woods northeast of Detroit near where the body of a 13-year-old girl who went missing in 1986 was found more than a decade ago. The Macomb Daily newspaper reports that authorities are digging Tuesday morning in a wooded area of Macomb Township in the hopes of finding the remains of four to six young girls who they believe may be connected to an already-convicted murderer.

[h=1]Police: Up to 7 girls could be buried in Michigan woods[/h]
"We have probable cause to believe that (Kimberly) is buried there," Dwyer said. "We also believe that there's maybe four to six other girls that have been reported missing that are buried there. We certainly are convinced we have the right area. It's just a sad type of situation."

Dwyer did not give the names of the other missing girls.
In 2008, the remains of 13-year-old Cindy Zarzycki were found near the same area. Zarzycki disappeared in 1986 after being lured to a Dairy Queen in Eastpointe, just north of Detroit.
