UK- London Nine injured in suspected acid attack, children among injured 01/31/24

thank you
he'd have some free food too if he was feeling well enough to eat
In January? Doubt it. He might find some root vegetables and a few brustle sprouts or winter lettuce perhaps. There wouldn't be much of a selection this time of year. Considering he's Afghani, he'd probably not recognise what was ready to eat unless he had a particular interest in temperate gardening.

Thinking about it, probably fewer people actually at an allotment this time of year as well. Perhaps he could hide out in a shed or something. Mind you, there could be an artic blizzard blowing through and there'd still be some salt of the earth old codger out there busying themselves with mysterious allotments tasks.

Clapham 'acid' attacker Abdul Ezedi could have links to criminal gangs, police fear as the massive manhunt to find the Afghan asylum who doused a mother and two children continues.

The National Crime Agency - the UK's equivalent of the FBI - were drafted in on Saturday night to help the Met find the 35-year-old who is suspected of chucking the corrosive alkaline substance at the family on Wednesday evening.

Officers are investigating concerns that an organised crime group could be helping the fugitive hide from the authorities.

The 31-year-old mother, believed to be known to Ezedi, remains 'very poorly' and sedated in hospital with her injuries thought to be 'life changing'. Her daughters, aged three and eight, remain in hospital with less serious injuries.

The woman was reportedly living in the hotel in Clapham with her two little girls for a fortnight, thought to have been hiding from Ezedi.

Looking at the map in this article of locations he visited , it seems he spent nearly 12 hours in different locations in South London. The police have not asked the public for any sightings of him in these areas . In my opinion he was heading back to one of the places he visited prior to the attack in Clapham.

what is an allotment? (following from across the pond)

Hi sorry for being off topic but what do they call 'allotments' in your country? If it's a patch of land that's not in your own garden and is for cultivating vegetables on a shared divided up space?

ETA: apologies, I just saw that LadyL responded 'community gardens', thank you

Things have moved on, it seems. Now he was last seen leaving Tower Hill Underground Station on Wednesday night.

I wonder why it has taken so long for this information to be released.
Maybe they were hoping to have found him by now. It's never the desired approach to have the public looking out for a violent offender. There's always the risk that the offender will realise he's been recognised and attack someone, or a member of the public will take it upon themselves to try to follow or take down the offender on their own. Or you can get a 'mob' situation, like the citizens arrest of Richard Ramirez. That could have so easily ended with Ramirez killing to escape, or the mob hanging him from a lamppost or beating him to death. It also puts at risk those who resemble the offender but are innocent of any wrongdoing. When the public is called to find someone who has committed a violent attack on a very vulnerable victim, as in this case, tensions in the public arena run high, and that can be dangerous.

MOO

Police have also released new information about the alkaline substance that was used for the attack - saying laboratory analysis shows it was either liquid sodium hydroxide or liquid sodium carbonate.

Investigators believe there are people who know where Ezedi is who have not come forward.

They warned anyone found "harbouring or assisting him" will be arrested.
