OTOH it's easy enough to dispose of a small body.
Maybe they - meaning CM, because she's the boss - didn't know what to do, so they stayed in effectively the same position for several weeks until the police changed their position for them.

Has this been mentioned by LE, verified somewhere, stated by family or friends, or come out in court?

How do we know CM is 'the boss'? Or is this just a personal idea of yours?

CM -when arrested - expressed surprise that concealing a pregnancy is criminal, stating that it's "not an arrestable offence".

Concealing a pregnancy is, to be fair, not an offence.

What is an offence - and what the officer arrests her for - is concealing the birth of a child. I suspect she's got that detail rather mixed up.

The offence of concealing a birth is only complete, however, if the baby is dead Offences Against the Person Act 1861

I'm maybe being bit thick here... but what is the rationale for them continuing to hide / live off grid / avoid being 'caught' once Victoria is dead? If she did die when the Defence say she did... why would you hide a body and continue with the madness? Surely, the whole point of you being on the run is to keep the baby? No baby... why run? And if it was through accidental suffocation then surely you would want a PM as soon as possible to confirm that?
Instead, they waited it out for 7+ weeks until they were finally caught and Victoria's body was no longer in a state to confirm their narrative or it seems, any narrative. Very convenient for them! I can only think they were hoping time would obfuscate the findings and so they attempted to stay hidden as long as possible for this reason. JMO

And the 'Daddy Bear' thing... don't even!
The daddy bear bit really peeved me...taking the absolute p1ss out of the whole situation. Arrogant, selfish, entitled, callous and evil

It's irrational exactly. People mentally unwell or going through an acute episode of something, or people grieving, or people scared of authority, would keep running. Paradoxically, I reckon they were lax and looking to be caught - to end the hiding, despite the things yet to come (facing the music, facing what they had done, her body being found how it was found, going on trial etc). Anyhoo I reckon they weren't trying to hide anymore and it'd be easier to be found because they'd been off the radar a month, then doing stuff like get on cctv, stay in the same area, speak to people. In plain sight.
I think in their warped brains they thought they were going to get away with everything. No victoria no problem

Yes well either way they were overheard, just before they knew the police were on to them, planning to head to London thus why they took out as much cash as possible. I very much doubt that they were planning to dispose of or bury her that same evening in the dark. Luckily they were arrested minutes later. I agree with you about CM appearing to be the boss of the pair.

I agree. In their minds at this point they prob thought they had already disposed of the body and were getting the hell out of dodge.

The cash removal fits with that.

I also think that makes it seem less likely that the baby died when CM claims.

Unless it really took them seven weeks to come up with the plan of "hide her in a shed".

I think that gross negligence manslaughter is going to be a tough one for the prosecution to prove beyond all reasonable doubt, seeing as the Crown can't show how the baby died, but having read the 1861 Act surely they're bang to rights on concealing the birth. It more or less describes exactly what they did!

I can't get to this conclusion at all.
Given their record with four previous children/babies, the only way this fifth baby would have been fine would have been if she had been removed from them very quickly, I can't see that there was a moment to spare.
Exactly. Or - if the parents became ready to fully engage and throw their all into both parenting and sorting out their own issues - a mother and baby placement followed by support in the community.

If it’s true that MG said he didn’t understand why ‘the baby’ was ‘the bigger deal’, then some possible contributing factors are brutally clear as to why they lost children. Even knowing she was dead, they knew no one else did. Whatever the reason for those comments, if they happened, they show an empathy deficit and a lack of any fear for what might happen next. Yes, it’s a snapshot at a high stress moment, yes, he potentially previously he’s experienced poor treatment by police and therefore has less respect for them and yes, he knew Victoria was dead - but imo it’s not a normal response even with those factors.

All just my opinion, but I didn’t believe MG was being led by CM, just looking at the facts. Not that (if guilty) it wouldn’t be a mixture of both their actions but, here we have a (according to family and friends) traumatised young woman who was previously brainwashed by a cult who meets a man who was previously imprisoned for violent offences and rape, she proceeds to cut off family and friends and has multiple children removed one after the other (an earlier baby while they are in a tent), refuses a mother and baby unit and goes from being involved in education to having no job and having to leave properties (potentially repeatedly, suggested by multiple living in tent and other accommodation). JMOO but all those factors point to a man who’s a dangerous and strong influence and a woman who was susceptible to control (having been involved with a cult), whether she then believed the narrative and became a perpetrator of that narrative or not.

I also don’t see any indications in any of the information so far that any baby would have been safe in their care had there not been a nationwide search.

Had a little fish around the urban dictionary came up with this-not sure Id say this is MG tho, life certainly didnt change for the better..

“Daddy Bear"

A soft yet dominant male who is smart, funny, & attractive. He does so much for the people he loves, more than they can even ask for. His personality is bubbly, energetic, and cheerful. He lives up to every women’s biggest fantasies. His voice is calming and soothing. His beautiful brown eyes resemble God’s greatest gift, nature. When you get a DaddyBear your world flips upside down and everything changes.. . For the better.

“My Daddy Bear takes such good care of me and loves me for who I am!”

And ‘Daddy’ is what the preacher TB Joshua made his ‘disciples’ call him in the Nigerian church that Constance Marten joined as a teen..perhaps something to do with that

I rewatched some of the videos and something popped out at me: CM seems reasonably "well-fleshed" while MG seems gaunt, desperate for food, and ill. Could there be something even weirder going on in that relationship? It struck me that they seemed to be in different physical condition. MOO.

If he had an infection in his foot, he could be seriously unwell without treatment (MOO see bag on foot, stick, limp). Also remember the 13 year age gap (Constance 36/37, to Mark 49/50)
Age source: Constance Marten was 'reduced to scavenging from bins', court hears

I had the same thought.

Potentially she had baby weight to begin with tho.

He did look in very poor condition as was also seemingly crippled with pain, bent over, limping, walking slowly, had bags tied around his feet and was using a stick to lean on. Whereas IMO CM looked shockingly well, fit, and physically able bearing in mind she'd only recently given birth and had been on the run for several weeks. Obviously we don't know their actual medical condition but this is how it appears to me from what little video and photos we've seen.

JMO MOO

It's possible. She said he was "starving". It's possible he is quite seriously physically ill, or was at that time.

Interestingly, CM's confidence in disputing the charge (even if she has misunderstood it, what she says is still correct and she seems to have knowledge of this) shows considerable presence of mind imo.

Honestly, she has the more sympathetic life story. She's the poor little rich girl who grew up in splendid yet broken circumstances. Who fell into a abusive cult and then was trying to pull her life together when she had the misfortune of meeting an evil man.

It's easy to imagine this as a controlling and coercive relationship with a dangerous older man who was rotten from the start. After all he committed shockingly violent crimes when barely a teen and then grew up and was socialised in a violent prison system.

Honestly though... What's the evidence? There's been no mention of domestic abuse, or coercive control in their history. She's shown no hint of being afraid of him, or led by him. Hell, by her body language and witness statements she seemed to be leading and making decisions half the time.

She had the resources and connections (in multiple countries) to get away. She stayed even when her kids were taken. What's more, she made every attempt to obscure the record of even her first baby with him. Now this happens in high control relationships don't get me wrong, but usually there are still signs someone is under duress. What signs are there here?

I think they were fully committed to eachother in some F-ed up, trauma bonded, two person cult kind of way.

She was this princess he couldn't believe would stoop to him. He was this tragic yet interestingly rough child victim of the racist American justice system. The more concerned her family, her friends social services were. The more it reinforced their 'the world doesn't understand,' persecution narrative of their tragic love story. Particularly if much of social services concern was (or perceived to be) around his childhood offences.

So they got progressively more insular and isolated the more their 'family life' was interfered with. As restrictions and monitoring was ordered. When family and friends made SS concern reports or called the police. As one by one (or all at once,) their kids were removed.

He probably had a natural distaste for governmental authorities still controlling his life. She likely had her own cult trauma about being forced to follow such rules as well. Also a good dash of entitlement from never being in the kind of social group who were subject to such treatment from government services.

I think both of them were all in on this this plan/fantasy to finally have a family that was free of all this prejudicial government and classist family interference. Totally disregarding that both had been repeatedly shown to be unfit parents.

When it went tiits up and the police and whole country was out looking for them and then his crimes and her past were broadcast to on the front page. It super turbocharged all of their previous persecution narratives.

No matter how softy softy the police were in their messaging and statements, there was no hiding their past or having this quiet normal family now. This would be the thing everyone knew about them and the internet is forever.

Unfortunately as it turns out, the only thing they proved was that the authorities had been entirely correct to remove all their kids.

Might be wrong. Maybe she is his victim, but it would be the obvious card for her to play in this and it's not been part of her defense. Maybe that's his control or maybe she has enough integrity not to lie about it idk. However personally I have no intention of giving her an ounce less accountability than he gets until there's evidence she deserves it. So far there ain't.

In my opinion. Obviously.
