Luke Bryan is speaking out after 22-year-old University of Missouri student Riley Strain mysteriously went missing on Friday March 8th after being kicked out of Luke Bryan's bar "32 Bridge" located in downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Riley Strain left Luke Bryan's bar alone on that night and family claim bar staff did not allow his friends to accompany him. Praying Riley Strain found safe. '

Why would bar staff not allow his friends to accompany him?

This link carries one on a dizzying tour of Luke Bryan's Bar. I can't imagine being in there with hundreds of people but many do it. There's a rooftop sushi bar.
Those guys could spend some time in here. Does Bryan's wait staff carry electronic devices to pay as you go when you don't have a table? That's how many restaurants serve big crowds so quickly. Wonder if the guys he was with ordered food while at a table? What time did they start their pub crawl that day?

It's like a labyrinth in there! I can see how people could lose sight of one another. Although, Riley would stand out due to his height.

“We’re here on a fraternity trip; it’s one of my good buddies,” the caller tells 911.

Strain’s family is distraught over his disappearance, telling “Morning in America’s” Markie Martin that he actually FaceTimed with her an hour before he was kicked out of the bar.

“He was sending me texts after we FaceTimed, saying, ‘Mama love you, have a good night’ and sending me pictures from the different bars they were going to to show me they were having a good time,” said Michelle Whiteid.

The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and the Office of Emergency Management are scouring riverbanks for clues using boats and sonar equipment.

I'm certain that every day they don't find something is good, because then there's still hope.
But as time goes on -- if possible, Riley would've called for help if able to do so ? :(

Am assuming his phone hasn't been found ?
So sorry for his loved ones.
That parent's interview was heartbreaking, esp. his mom.
Omo.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — It's now been five days since anyone last saw University of Missouri senior Riley Strain. Strain, 22, walked out of a downtown Broadway bar Friday night, intoxicated, and hasn't been seen since.

His entire family has been in Nashville, desperately working to help Metro Police find him.

Riley's father, Ryan Gilbert, said he was told by Riley’s friends that he got separated from the group while getting kicked out of the bar.

“He was put out of the bar by himself, and there was a time that went by that his friend wasn’t able to get out. We believe they were taking care of the bar tab or whatnot. By the time they got outside, he just wasn’t there any longer,” said Gilbert.

This makes me think of Brendan Santos and a few others. Alcohol and large bodies of water do not go together. Probably stopped to use the restroom and fell in. How cold is the water in that area this time of year?
I was on a yacht once with a group of friends. There was nine of us. One of the men had been sitting at the back of the boat the whole time just chugging beer, one after the other. All of a sudden he got up, I think to pee, and fell right into the lake. We were a couple of miles off shore at the time. My husband who'd been a life guard jumped in after him. As soon as he got near him he tried to climb on my husband pushing under the water. My husband punched him in the face and screamed at him to calm down. Meanwhile the boat's owner was trying desperately to turn the boat around which is no mean feat in of itself, being a sailing vessel. We threw some life rings in the water. It was horrible to watch this guy scared and trying to get it together to grab one of the life rings. I don't think he'd have been able to do it without my husband coaching him from about 10 feet away. When we got them back on board he basically collapsed from the stress while my husband was shaking with adrenal for ages afterwards. If there had been more of us on the boat all equally as hammered as this guy I can't guarantee how much time would have gone by before someone realized he'd been gone but in that time, I think he would have been lost forever. Lake Erie is not small.

Today we worked to confirm as much of RILEY STRAIN’S last known path possible. We have new surveillance video, but there’s really nothing beyond the James Robertson Pky bridge & Gay St area. His bank card has not been used, and his phone last pinged at 9:58 pm, per his family.

We also looked into what LEGAL responsibility these bars have, and how Riley got separated from his group at Luke Bryan’s bar. Riley’s biological father Ryan Gilbert said that Riley was escorted out of the bar for intoxication. However, there was no hostility.

He said Riley’s friends were separated from him bc they still had to pay their tab. By the time they got out, Riley was not there.

TABC:“There are no specific rules or statutes that governs escorting out intoxicated patrons from their businesses or providing assistance in getting someone home. However, state law prohibits serving alcoholic beverages to someone who is visibly intoxicated.”

Not necessarily a medical fact, but i have noticed over the years, that very tall & slender males, just seem to faint more easily than others, imo, speculation.
Tall and thin men are a very different build from some of the just big all over guys. I suspect their bodies work differently too and anyone who shrugs and says "well, he's a big guy" misses the point that he's lighter boned and fleshed. Plus, people's bodies metabolize everything differently. As a baby my son was allergic to cough syrup and his body retained the reaction for double the length of time the doctor thought he would.

Naturally, when he became of drinking age, I passed that story along to him and suggested he might do alcohol the same way and to be careful. I thought/think he might remain drunk longer than he'd expect from all the charts, etc. Which could get him in real trouble driving.

I’ve wondered this often myself. Honestly I think the main difference is likely just that as women we’re taught from a very young age to never go anywhere alone, especially not at night, and especially not while intoxicated. Whereas I feel men are more taught to fend for themselves it seems. As for the times when women do unfortunately end up somewhere alone at night while visibly intoxicated, I think we’re just more likely to meet several other different fates well before we even have time to reach the water– which may even include potentially receiving help from other women if we’re lucky!

Great point. yes, safety in numbers even with men. They should probably teach this at Colleges, even pamphlets and posters, just get the info into their minds to stick together when high, intoxicated.

Thank you...so do the drunk men see water and think I'd love to go for a midnight swim I wonder? To cool down?
We'd have to question those who survived drunk swimming to find out.

"Men had elevated risks for exposure, risk taking, and alcohol use. It was concluded that several factors contribute to their relatively high drowning rates, including a possible interaction between overestimation of abilities and heavy alcohol use."

it looks like, in my opinion, that he was moving right along as he covered what seems to be a little more then a block in 5 minutes

agreed. imo, it makes more sense to teach to stick together as a group, or at least not be alone, than to not drink, etc. People will experiment.. just saying.

I don’t know why men gravitate to water while drunk but Im Dutch and lived most of my life in Amsterdam. We had / have so many drownings every year mostly tourists and expats. All men. Whenever a man was missing I knew hes in water and I see this phenomenon in other countries as well.

Once I was in a bar by the water and young expat gone missing while going to the bathroom and never came back. He was found almost 2 weeks later in water. Probably gone to the bathroom by the water because the bar I was at was notorious for busy bathrooms.

I guess one reason is as some of you mentioned going to pee in the water.
Im adding some article about that issue as to why so many young men die in water.
I hope that Riley will be found safe but I do believe he is in the water.

It's gross that they want to pee in the water, but drunk logic is not logical though.

Have any videos been pulled from inside the establishment (bar) to see the activity going on prior to when RS kicked out of the bar? Thinking it's important to know what happened and why RS picked out as the one being over-served, and who over-served him, did something get dropped in his drink? Is this typical for this bar to kick people out for over-serving? moo

I have noticed the same. My best friend is a 6'5", 180# man and he faints at the drop of a hat. I think it's to do with circulation, and alcohol does make it worse for BFF.

I just don’t understand where else this poor kid would be other than the river. I am still hoping he is in the hospital as a John Doe, maybe still incapacitated. I’d think the police would have already figured that out though.

It does seem a little heartless. But I've lived in big cities where you see drunk people weaving all over, coming up to you abruptly and you have no idea what they're going to do. And homeless people. They can be so unpredictable. So the last thing you would do is engage them. In a town like Nashville where there is such a huge concentration of bars citizens are probably inured to see drunks roaming around. You would get desensitized to it.

I get it, people are wary of intoxicated people and as you said - they're unpredictable.
But situations like this could be completely avoidable, and then we wouldn't be reading this thread or many others like it.
It's just sad, really hoping for the best, but as each day passes, the best outcome now would appear to be the recovery of Riley.
His poor parents and family, this must be agony for them.
