She spent 1-hour min. driving time to go home & have lunch with SP... like I stated before, what did they do for lunch-- have air sandwiches?
Something pretty important to make the hour drive to meet him at her home.

According to the link above, Florida has no age limit that children can be home alone.

ok, so FL apparently does designate 8 yrs old as the minimum for being home alone and then older if there are other factors influencing maturity or lack of access to a caregiver. In Texas when I worked for social services it was first grade and up - which is just REALLY REALLY young.

It's never been confirmed where she was, so maybe she didn't even go back to work at all that day. LE sure isn't saying anything-- so who knows.

I was actually being serious... one of my friends is a Reiki healer and she does treatments in her home or will go to homes. I thought that could have been what she was having him over for that day.. was just a thought.

And reiki and reefer... not the same thing...

I just find it hard to believe that some adult would murder Somer over a spat with their niece. But maybe you're not saying that?

BUT

This made me wonder if she saw Somer taking a shortcut.

And she had told me, well, when I see her tomorrow at school I'll ask her where she goes...

You never know these days.

It would be nice to know if he had worked at 1080 Gano in the past and if he was familiar with the house and the dumpsters around the area.

Who is to say that the murderer did not kill her in one place and disposed of the body/or kept her temporarily hidden in another... so as to point suspicion away from his home/murder scene?

Someone suggested this theory in the past and I thought it ridiculous.

But... knowing that he owns or owned a tile business, that his niece had a fight with Somer that day, and that he lives between the school and her last known sighting... one gets the hinkers glowing. Well, at least mine.

Of course, this is just a theory, I am not accusing anyone of anything, just my thinking/opinion, for the moment.

Florida's secretary of state site won't report the address for all businesses registered in the state? Usually they at least give you an addy for the person who receives mail for the buisness.

When telling the happy story of Baby Shannon getting found to my family, they were all horrified by the mere fact that they will never get their Mom back. Said the eldest child: It never ends in Florida, it's just one case after another, Mom! This will never be over for you!

I read it! You had a lot of good info. I looked up his picture too and I really don't recall seeing his pic before, but then we've looked at so many I think it's a possibility. I couldn't see that he was charged with sex offenses in the past. But that certainly doesn't mean he hasn't done it before or is now branching out. I think my lack of sleep is impairing my judgment at this point. So I'll leave it for others to sleuth further right now.

I do not mean for this to sound snarky or mean in any way... But, when it is slow and no news have any of you fairly new members went and read the past threads on Somer???

I just keep seeing the same stuff re- researched and re- researched.. This is why a lot of your ideas get past up from ppl who have been here for the whole Somer case... we aren't ignoring on purpose it is just we have see all the RSO's SO's in the 5mile radius... and we have sleuthed them... Just like the me guy just posted but nice to see he is re-arrested.. head shaved...


If I was new and coming to a crime forum this is the first thing I do is get the back story that has been done... then I jump in ... maybe I am weird doing it this way...

Thanks SouthernMom. I had never seen that info before. A police-style vehicle is very unsettling. But it surprises me how little information the reporter gathered for the article. What time of day did it occur? What did the man look like? What did he say to the girls? And did you notice it was a father of a child that went door to door to spread the news...and the school sent out notification to the students. What did LE do to put the public on alert??

I'm really not trying to bash LE here because I know they have their hands full. But sometimes it seems there are areas where they could be way more proactive. As in the attempted abduction 10 days before Somer disappeared. Did anyone local even know about that until Somer disappeared? People need to be informed as soon as there is even 1 attempted abduction of a child. There are sirens for tornado warnings where I live. Why don't they sound a different siren if there is an abduction or attempted abduction or when a child goes missing??

Now that would be scary! Those tornado sirens scared the crap out of me as a child.
Seriously... I see what you're saying but LE can only do so much. They can't be on every street corner and escort every child to and from school. It's up to the parents to preach safety in numbers, and being careful who you talk to and all that. If Somer had stayed with the group of her siblings, this would not have happened. She was just one of those who didn't think it would ever happen, or didn't understand the danger of running off ahead of the rest. And somebody was there waiting and watching and took the opportunity. It happens, and there's not a lot that LE can do about it, when they simply don't have the manpower to be everywhere at once.
