I am relieved that this isn't connected to what happened in my town, Delphi, IN. But, I am very sad for an animal rescuer who died trying to save a dog. I am sorry, very very sorry. I love my dog.

I think she went in the river the same place we did except that the water was one foot higher and unpredictable. She knew that place on the river all her life, just like my wife. You could walk to that sandbar normally without taking off your shoes. And, It had not rained in Columbus for two...

I don't know. it's possible she may have been able to hold her head above water for some time if she had been found earlier. Why didn't the tracking dogs find her? Anyway, i don't want to 2nd guess anyone at this time. It's very sad!!!

In these photos, I am on the exact spot where she was found, on the sandbar. The water was 1 foot higher when she ran in after Ringo.

I hope that is true.

The water around this site was maybe 2 inches deep. We didn't even take our shoes off to get there.

Just got back from taking my dog again to the very spot in the Flatrock. We went in the river.

She did not live in Columbus. How would she know the dog was a stray? Maybe the dogs owner lived in that neighborhood.

A lifelong friend of my wife lives right at the scene. My wife grew up playing in that river where the body was found. There is no quicksand.

There is a small dam near the sandbar that makes a small waterfall. Dams suck you know and anything that goes in on the other side of the dam is pinned to the dam. This case doesn't make sense.

The Delphi case and the Columbus case both occurred on public hiking trails. And, I took my dog to play in the Flatrock by the sandbar. I don't think my dog even got her belly wet because it is so shallow. Not much of a winter in Columbus. The grass is growing and some flowers are blooming...

If she fell in the water north of the dam, she would be pinned to the dam not found by the sandbar. You can walk up to the dam on the south side where she was found. The water is not that warm. But is isn't freezing and it's quite shallow.
