Wood's family said, the last they heard, she was going to visit her uncle near the Styx river area.

Tillman's Corner Teen Missing for a Week

Family and friends traveled from Tillmans Corner to search the woods near Styx River. "This was the last place her phone was 'pinged'," says her father Wallace Hanke. "They found the signal bouncing off one of these towers and we haven't talked to her in over a week. We need some help finding her."

"Her uncle has committed suicide and supposedly he was the last one she was with and so we're worried about that," says Hanke. "I'm hoping to God and I really don't think he would hurt my baby," says Brittney's mother.

Two-day search of Styx river area yields no evidence in disappearance of missing Mobile woman

“I think (not finding anything in Styx River) is in itself a clue that we can take and move forward with the investigation,” said Brad Dennis in a phone interview on Friday. Dennis is the National Director of Search Operation for the KlaasKIDS Foundation, a California-based organization helping with the search.

Woman's Torso Found, Not Missing Mobile Teen

A spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department told WKRG News 5 that the gruesome discovery is not Brittney Wood, 19, who has been missing from Tillmans Corner since last week.

Mobile police continue search for Brittney Wood

The family of Brittney Wood filed a missing person report on June 2, Levy said. Wood’s family told police that the last time they saw her was May 30.

According to reports from WKRG-TV5, Wood told family members she was headed to a house near Styx River to visit her uncle, Donnie Wood. The family told the station that Donnie Wood returned home near Fairhope on Friday and shot himself. Brittney Wood has not been seen since, the station reported.

Dickey said the signal came at 1:40 a.m. on May 31st; the morning after her disappearance.

Brittney Wood Case Shrouded in Mystery...

Wood has been missing for almost three weeks, and a national organization KlaasKIDS Foundation even came into town and organized a search near Robertsdale, Alabama, across the bay
from the city of Mobile. It was believed her cell phone signal was detected in that area. Police aren't saying why the search is now focused in the opposite direction, in South Mobile County near Grand Bay, Alabama.

Few Leads in Case of Missing Teen Mom

Woods family reported her missing June 2 after she "packed her bags and walked out of the house May 30.
"She left with personal items with the intent of being gone at least overnight and that was not unusual, [Mobile PD Cpl Chris] Levy said.

"How long she intended to leave, there is no way to know until we find her.

"We believe her cell phone went to that area [Styx River], Lowery said. "We dont have any information to believe she was with the cell phone at the time.

"All we reported to the family is that we had information through our investigation that puts [Wood] in the Grand Bay area or south Mobile County at or around same time [Holland] is committing suicide, Levy said.

Regardless, the MPD has devoted a detective to the case.

Holland Indicted on More Sex Charges
BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) - Wendy Wood Holland, the 33-year-old aunt of the missing Brittney Wood, appeared in court Thursday. Her trial on child endangerment charges was supposed to be held.

Instead, she was indicted by a grand jury on more sex crime charges: sodomy of a child less than 12, sex abuse of a child less than 12 and sexual torture.

The search continued as authorities arrested relative after relative in connection to an alleged child sex ring involving Brittney's family and friends. Investigators said they had been looking to talk to Brittney about the sex crimes before she even went missing.

"We oftentimes look for that golden nugget. That one person that can make the difference in your case," said Detective Eric Winberg, former lead investigator on the family sex abuse investigation in Baldwin County. "In this particular case, Brittney Wood was that person. She was the person that could tell the whole story."

In a series of Facebook messages investigators believe are between Brittney and one of the alleged victims, Brittney writes on May 27, "Hey beautiful. How are you? Tell me what's going on. I don't know what's true and what you said."
The alleged victim then identifies relatives Randall Scott Wood, Dustin Kent, and Donald Holland as abusers - writing in part: "They raped me."
The conversation continues for quite some time, sharing heartbreaking details. Brittney, however, ends it saying in part, "I love you. I'm sorry."

"I feel that that was their attempt to reach out to one another and say, 'Hey, this is what's going on here,'" said Det. Winberg.

The alleged victim then writes repeatedly to Brittney on May 28 and again on May 30, with no response.
May 30 was the last time Brittney was seen alive, traveling with her uncle, Donald Holland, to a home in the Styx River area in Baldwin County.

New arrests deepen mystery of missing teen

MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI)

Pat Guyton is director of the Mobile Child Advocacy Center and thought he'd seen everything. But he says Tuesday night's roundup of friends and members of the Brittney Wood family takes this case to a new level.

"We have never had a case like this where there are so many alleged perpetrators within the same family," he said, "molesting, allegedly, so many children within the extended family grouping."

"I believe there are people walking around today who know what happeend to Brittney Wood," said Guyton. "I don't know who they are, but I believe the circumstances surround her DEATH... I believe there are people walking around today who know what happened to Brittney Wood and have a good idea what happened to Brittney Wood. They may not have been involved but they have a good idea what happened to her. And while this case is not directly involved with the Brittney Wood case, there are certainly some indirect indications that lead us back to the disappearance of Brittney Wood."

Records from Mobile County Metro Jail show authorities have yet to book Nelton Lloyd "Butch" Morgan, 47, a Wood family friend.

Morgan is facing charges of first-degree rape and sex abuse of a child less than 12. Court records show he is also wanted on a pair of outstanding warrants signed in 2012 after he failed to pay fees associated with a 2011 conviction on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest.

Dustin Kent, Mendy Wood Kent, Wendy Wood Holland, James Cumbaa and William “Billy” Brownlee had hearings before York, who levied bail amounts of $60,000 per class-A felony and $30,000 per Class-B felony, with the stipulation that, should any individual make bail, they would be required to wear an ankle monitoring device.

Randall Scott Wood was released on bail Wednesday night, according to Mobile County Metro Jail records.

In a phone interview with the Press-Register/AL.com, Mobile County Assistant District Attorney Nicki Patterson who is the lead prosecutor in the above cases, and specializes in handling child cases shared some insights into how she and her colleagues balance protecting the young victims and bringing predators to justice.

This is a more layered group than we have seen or uncovered here in Mobile, Patterson said.

Family members sharing their children, unfortunately, is not new, she said. It is not that unusual from what we know.

If youre getting to a third generation and people are still choosing to abuse, sometimes these networks take place, she said.

Magnolia Springs woman arrested in ongoing sexual abuse investigation

ROBERTSDALE – Another arrest has been made in Baldwin County, reportedly part of an ongoing sexual abuse investigation involving the family of a missing woman last seen in the Styx River area more than a year and a half ago.

In a press release issued Monday, the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Jennifer Gonzales Moore, 32, of Magnolia Springs on charges of production of child *advertiser censored* and second degree sexual abuse.

The charges stem from an ongoing investigation by the Sheriff’s Office, the Baldwin County District Attorney’s Office and the Baldwin County Department of Human Resources in the Holland sexual abuse investigation.

Prosecution alleges friends, family of Brittney Wood 'passed their children back and forth' for sex

MOBILE, Alabama -- Six defendants in what prosecutors allege is an inter-family ring involving children being "shared" for sex were in front of District Court Judge Jay York on Thursday for preliminary hearings.

The cases involving each of the six defendants, related by either blood or fellowship to missing Mobile woman Brittney Wood, were bound over to a grand jury by the judge during a proceeding that required two tables be placed together to accommodate all of the accused. The respective attorneys for William Brownlee, Dustin Kent, Mendy Kent, Wendy Holland, Nelton Morgan and James Cumbaa had to stand behind and beside them in the cramped space.

During testimony, investigators recounted the allegations of sex abuse from two underage victims -- one boy, one girl -- which involved individual and group acts between the children and the defendants. According to the testimony, the earliest of the alleged abuses came when the boy was as young as 7 and the girl as young as 9, and in cases of some defendants continued for several years.

“What you are faced with is children who grew up almost believing that this was normal, that this is what this family did. It's not like ‘let’s get together for Thanksgiving and carve a turkey.’ This was the normal family interaction,” said Assistant District Attorney, Nicki Patterson.

Detective Corley also said on the stand that twin sisters, Mendy Kent and Wendy Holland have an incestuous relationship, and one of the victims was forced to watch their sexual encounters.

Judge York is sending all cases to a grand jury.

Experts search for sex crime evidence in Wood case

In a letter obtained by FOX10 News apparently written to Donald’s wife, the sender writes “Brittney wrote a letter with a lot of evidence on it pertaining to Jennifer, her, you, Mendy, and (child victim). She said if anything happened to her to give it to the police.”
The letter goes on to say, “(no-name) is scared to give the letter up,” and “you need to … get that letter that Brittney wrote. This can seriously (expletive) you up.”
At least one of the letters was found at Wendy Holland's residence

May 30, 2012: Family members last see Brittney Wood, the mother of a 2-year-old who was then 19. She says she's going to the Styx River area in Baldwin County to visit her uncle, Donald "Donnie" Holland. He committed suicide on June 1.

June 2, 2012: A missing persons report for Wood is filed with the Mobile Police Department three days after she was last seen.
