Nine days after Yasmin Acree, 15, went missing from her Austin home , a local clergy group offered a $1,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.

Standing with Yasmin's mother Thursday afternoon at Chicago Police Department headquarters, officials with the Leaders Network pleaded for Chicagoans to keep watch for the Austin Polytechnical Academy freshman.

Yasmin's family reported her missing Jan. 16, after finding the locks on two outside gates cut and the door to the basement, where Yasmin's bedroom is , forced open, said her mother, Rose Starnes.

Police, however, said there was no evidence of a break-in and that Yasmin told her friends she was planning to run away.

Police, who are investigating Yasmin's disappearance as a missing persons case.

Starnes, who said she is certain her daughter was kidnapped, said the friend who claimed she planned to run away later recanted the statement.

"She's not the runaway kind," Starnes said. "She's a very scared person. She had a hard time trying to learn how to ride the bus."

I could be wrong, but I don't think for one minute this beautiful girl ran away.

From link above:

Two locks cut and the door forced open is not evidence of a break-in??????

This poor girl went missing from Chicago's west side "Austin" neighborhood.
I found another article with a better picture.

Not exactly a great neighborhood.... but worse a little further north according to http://www.chicagocrime.org/ - an interesting block by block crime search for chicago.

I wonder why Police won't confirm the family's statement regarding the broken locks. I don't know much about LE in this immediate area.

I hope she is found safely.

*edited* No pics of her, but it looks like this is probably her:

It says Kimball Middle School, then says she goes to school in Austin. Is she from Kentucky? Her choice of music is interesting; those kids are very talented. I wonder if she knows them or if they are just on youtube or something somewhere.

Not sure if this is hers, either, since there are no pics, but it came up in a search for her first and last name. I guess her bf is Chris, or was at one time. Wonder who he is.

On the xanga, it says that her nicknames are mimi, yazzy, princess, and says she's into modeling...

I called the Rev to see if he knows if the parents have a login for her myspace, and told him that someone has logged into it on the nineteenth. Had to leave a vm. I guess I could call the cops and tell them, but if they're trying to say it wasn't a break-in, and it was, I doubt they will check out her myspace. I dunno.

Thanks Stealthy. I looked at this earlier but was kind of too tired to do much.

Based on what you posted it looks like she may have been born in KY but her listed grammer school was in Elgin IL. Not sure how long her family has lived in her current neighborhood. Mom went to visit her sister in Elgin... Not much info out there..... Doesn't even look like she is on NCMEC.

She's a naturally very pretty girl. Thanks for calling the Rev. Please keep us posted.

This one has me curious with the lack of response so to speak from LE.

When you hear from the Rev' let him know we are praying for her and the family.

bumping.

Am curious if Stealthy heard back from the Rev.

I have not heard anything. I also emailed the church to pass along the message to him. I did say in the voicemail that the people on websleuths were praying for her, sending good thoughts, and hoping that she is okay.

It looks like they were in Hopkinsville, KY at some point. Since tomorrow (today) is Sunday, maybe someone will get the email and contact me, or check out that myspace. If I don't hear anything by the evening, I will try the numbers I have for her mother and see if she knows about that 1/19 login on myspace.

Anyway, more info is here: http://www6.lexisnexis.com/publishe...4&topicId=100020825&docId=l:734253724&start=9

Says she went to Austin Polytechnical Academy
Formerly attended May Elementary Community Academy
the only items missing were Yasmin's pajamas, coat and boots, her mother said. - makes me think she might have gone to meet someone or something? Why would a kidnapper get her coat and boots?

I just emailed Rev. Acree about the myspace account, after finding his email on google groups.

The Rev contacted me, and was already aware of that login. I hope the police can do something with it and find her. He says,
God bless you and thanks for your prayers.

Thank you for the update Stealthy. I wonder if she left with a boy/man and the plan was to make it look like a break in.

Leaving in her pajama's and coat sounds like she went to talk to someone, or maybe the laundry was in the basement and a cold room. Maybe she had to go outside to access the entrance to the laundry.

Just throwing out idea's.

I wish there was more news coverage for Yasmin.

Another article:

http://austinweeklynews.1upsoftware...D=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=1608&TM=83321.78

Yasmine is a freshman at Austin Polytechnical Academy, where, according to some friends, she joked about being "tired of life, tired of school, tired of everything."

Pastor Acree said he hopes that she was not abducted.
"If for some reason she ran away, whatever the issue, I pledge my support to help her resolve it."

It sounds as if perhaps her friends know more than they are telling. If that is the case, I hope they put Yasmins well being and safety first and tell what they know.

thanks for the update Petra. I want her home and safe too. I am perplexed as to why she is not listed at NCMEC.

You're welcome, Cubby.

I wish Yasmine's story would get more press.

I don't know why she is not listed either, I wish there was some way we at WS could help Yasmine''s family more, if they so desired.

Prayers for all her loved ones.

Her myspace was logged into again on 02/18

Where is Yasmine?
