Casey Anthony's defense team again sought a mistrial on Thursday afternoon after the jury saw video of a jail visit between her and brother Lee Anthony in which he makes several negative statements about her attorney, Jose Baez.
Baez argued that Lee's statements were prejudicial, undermined the defense with the jury and falsely suggested he might obstruct justice or withhold evidence. Prosecutors argued that the deadline for motions on evidence was December 31, 2010 and the defense never raised an issue with those portions of the recordings, nor did they ever contact the state attorney's office about redacting them. Judge Belvin Perry denied the motion for mistrial, stating that it was untimely.
