We haven't heard anything to suggest that the phone was smashed from either side or that it was intentionally damaged. We know that LG's family factory reset it relatively close in time to the murders though because it was glitchy... IN - Abigail Williams & Liberty German, Delphi, Media, Maps, Timelines NO DISCUSSION (post #887).

I seem to recall the coroner had determined the girls were posed at the scene but not transported post-mortem. They can generally tell if a body has been shipped around significantly. Changes to the lividity pattern, etc.

You could be right I just assumed he was watching his steps as it looked a bit rickety to my eyes. You lose your agility as you age I believe.

The bridge is OLD, Rickety and had boards Missing with wide gaps. YIKES !!

You most definitely would need to look down if you are walking across it.

Just my thoughts and speculation:

Did RA attempt a factory reset on LG'S phone and possibly proceed to smash the phone?

If it's possible that he did, would that have caused the phone to do weird pings?

A factory reset does not destroy data, all of that data can be recovered if done correctly, even by a layperson. If someone factory resets/wipes over and over-that can destroy data; but not one factory reset. It is possible the perp(s) believed a factory reset would destroy evidence. It is possible someone tried to smash her phone.

There are multiple tools in the public domain used for digital forensics that can recover data: Cellebrite, Caine, Magnet, AXIOM, FTK and Imager (to name a few) all on parrotOS, all Linux based, all free.

I do remember reading Libby’s phone was had been recently factory reset, I believe a family member said it had, but this was before the murders.

Thankfully the FBI has some of the best data forensics in the country.

I know someone that lives in Delphi and her daughter played softball with Libby. The day the girls went missing she posted in our small private FB group (I group for moms who were having kids about the same time many many moons ago.. we've had the group before FB was even a thing.. it started on message boards before FB and then migrated to FB when it was an option). She posted that she was worried about 2 girls who went for a walk on a trail and didn't show up when it was pick up time. She said people were out searching. I do not know the extent of how many were searching that first night, but it seemed much of the town knew that 2 girls were missing and she at least knew there was a search going on. I also remember the next day when the news broke and we just were all stunned because we all have kids that were the ages of Abby/Libby when they were killed. It is what had me interested in this case from day 1 because I knew someone that knew them and I had kids their age.

Small towns are like that though.. everyone knows everyone or they at least know someone that knows someone. I have a feeling that first day the search had quite a few people because that is what small towns do when someone is missing.. they rally around and find ways to help.

Well, one explanation could be that they were picked up on the private drive and then taken to the spot where they were found at some point in the middle of the night/wee hours of the morning.

I recall an interview with BP and I think her hub and Kelsi and they said that there were flashlights everywhere that night they were searching, but it was so dark, they could only see the flashlights. I can't recall where that interview was though but it was an on camera one if that jogs anyone's memory.

I believe once RA left the crime scene the girls were out there alone until they were found.

Nobody would be stupid enough to go back out there when searchers were about. I believe it had spread though the small community that they were missing so that would of been a fool’s errand.

If you saw it I'm sure it happened. It sounds logical too, small town, missing girls, woods... mobilize! What has never made sense to me is that it seems like they were practically on their own. Where were the authorities, search and rescue, those guys we saw wading in the river the next day?

1. It was said RA walked those trails often. In the Franks Memo so I don’t know if it’s true but it has been stated by his defense. So he would have had time to practice that bridge crossing.
2. I don’t consider 45 old and he was NOT overweight in February of 2017. Video is available of him from December 2016 and he was closer to the 145-160 range ( bar video where he is jumping around a billiard table).
He may appear bigger in the BG video because he appears to be equipped with several layers of clothing and wearing oversized clothing. You really cannot gauge his weight because limbs and neck are not visible. IMO
JMO he was very capable on that bridge and it was part of the trap he laid for his victims. One of which was not as capable on the bridge.

I have a FB picture of RA before the account was scrubbed. I don't know if I can post if here, but it was from Oct 2016, 4 months before the murders. RA was on the slim side weight wise, had light reddish brown hair and a closely trimmed mustache and cropped goatee.

RA in 2016 looked nothing like his booking photo in 2022. In the in between he gained at least 40-50 pounds IMO, let what little hair he had on top almost bald go gray and grew his mustache and trimmed goatee into a full blown beard at least a foot long (ZZ Top Style). I believe RA did this purposely - hiding in plain sight.

If you watch RA walk you will notice one of his knee bends over a bit or he picks it up somewhat, it's hard to explain. I saw that on the BG video and I've seen it when RA has been escorted in and out of court.

His jeans and prison pants bend and roll in the same exact spot as BG. BG = RA = Killer I have no doubt, I've played that video over and over, compared photos, studied blue jean lengths like a woman possessed for years. Yes, this case means that much to me. Justice and Truth for Abby & Libby always.

I expect nothing but continuing Motions and am glad for a Hearing before trial. I was hoping for harsher punishment for R&B on the contempt charges, I just don't think the State had the evidence to prove that AB was leaking info straight to MW all along, even though I believe he was. Judge Gull made the right call on that one, my personal opinion doesn't matter.

I look forward to a fairly run trial, one that I hope ends with RA sentenced to LWOP. I believe he brutally murdered Abby and Libby that sunny February day and I hope he never walks among us as a free man again.

Oh definitely they need to manage their time wisely. She won't put up with the way some attorneys drag things out, one or 2 short testimonies, then no witnesses scheduled for the rest of the day, kind of thing.

I wonder how often he had walked across the bridge in the past. Because as a Kid I would have walked that a million times over and not even given it a thought in the world it was sketchy with no barriers. When you reach your 30’s I suddenly look at it and think “hell no”.

So the fact he was old and overweight I can understand why he would be watching his steps -and looking down instead of looking straight ahead at the girls. He knew they were trapped regardless at the end there.

True, but they weren't really trapped where they were killed either. Not by physical obstructions at least. Obviously they felt trapped. I think they both could have escaped if they wanted to, but by the time they wanted to it was too late.

There were well of 20 people. It was dark and they interviewed several people near the trails out searching. Locals were worried- maybe because it didn’t add up that two girls were missing. One with a working phone. Unfortunately, I believe they had a bad feeling from the start. But were clinging to hope.
