LE is not releasing that detail about Sam's murder, out of respect for her family.

Knox, I thought this snipet of the article very interesting:

"When [Keyes] left Alaska, he left with the specific purpose of kidnapping and murdering someone," Chittenden County State Attorney T. J. Donovan said at the press conference. "He was specifically looking for a house that had an attached garage, no car in the driveway, no children, no dog."

The Curriers, unfortunately, fit all of Keyes' criteria. He spent three days in Vermont before striking. He even took out a three-day fishing license and fished before the slayings.

In June 2011, Keyes went to their house and cut a phone line from outside and made sure they did not have a security system that would alert police. He donned a head lamp and broke into their house with a gun and silencer that he had brought with him.

Keyes found the couple in bed and tied them up with zip ties. He took Lorraine Currier's purse and wallet as well as Bill Currier's gun. He left the man's wallet.

He put the couple in their own car and drove them to an abandoned farmhouse that he had previously scoped out. Keyes tied Bill Currier to a stool in the basement and went back to the car for Lorraine Currier.

"Keyes saw that Lorraine had broken free from the zip ties and observed that she was running towards Main Street," Donovan said. "He tackled her to regain control of her."

Keyes took Lorraine Currier to the second floor of the farmhouse and tied her up. He rushed to the basement when he heard commotion and found that Bill Currier's stool had broken and he was partially free.

'Sad that the Currier's were so close to escaping his wrath"...

Just the facts, ma'am

"According to The Southern Poverty Law Center, an organization that tracks cases related to racism across the country, Israel Keyes grew up near Chevie and Cheyne Kehoe, brothers who are currently serving life sentences for murder and attempted murder.

SPLC’s HateWatch blog says Keyes was a childhood friend of the Kehoes. The two families lived less than a mile apart and considered each other friends, a Stevens Co. source tells the site.
The Kehoes identified with a church called The Ark, located near both families’ homes, according to this source. The Ark preaches white people are the superior race and claims modern-day Jews are descendents of Satan. SPLC suggests the Keyes family might have given their son the name Israel based on their belief in the Christian Identity church.
The Stevens Co. source went on to tell SPLC the relationship between Keyes and the Kehoe brothers continued into their teen years. Authorities say they might have even attended a rally together in the early 90s targeting racists and neo-Nazis in Stevens Co."

I clicked the link at the bottom of the article. Not sure about this one.

Keyes buried murder kits in strategic locations JF.

IIRC, when he murdered the Currier's, he flew into Chicago, rented and car and drove to Vermont.

I must say, I never imagined he was this diabolical. IMO, this was never about money. He killed because he enjoyed it.

In the following article it states that Keyes brought the gun he used to kill the Currier's with him from Alaska. I bolded it for you.

I know it could be misinformation on part of the media, but if Keyes actually told LE he brought the gun with him, then I'm wondering if LE looked into that. Is there is a record of him declaring the gun in his luggage? Is there a record of Keyes checking any baggage? Is the checked baggage scanned or X-rayed for weapons at the Anchorage airport?

I don't imagine someone like Keyes packed a big bag that needed to be checked when he left to go on one of his killing sprees. So did he carry the gun on board the plane? If so how did he get past TSA.

He broke into their home and, in their bedroom, Keyes told police, he bound them with zip ties, forced them into their car and drove them to an abandoned house, where he shot Bill Currier with a gun he brought from Alaska, and then sexually assaulted and strangled Lorraine Currier.

Possible connection between Keyes and the Kehoe brothers.

Take this with a grain of salt, since the source is this blog:

The blog has a lot of interesting info in it, however it is just a blog.

It really is interesting. The Kehoe brothers are linked with Timothy McVeigh, gun dealers, bank robbers and that whole white supremacy radical ideology. It sure makes one wonder.

Joe, there is no way he could bring a gun on a plane with him. I travel with my dog often and have to go to the same TSA area where people check guns. I see several every time I check in. I am also curious if the airlines keep records of checked guns. I know you have to fill out a form and sign something.

Keyes looked for victims in remote locations: parks, campgrounds, trail heads, cemeteries and boating areas. Before the Curriers of Vermont failed to show up for work on June 9, 2011, the disappearances of the people he killed didn't get much coverage, he told investigators, according to the FBI. But Koenig's disappearance sparked a massive search and generated numerous news stories.

BBM- Yet the Currier's were targeted in their home (which was not in a super rural area). Sam was targeted at a drive through coffee shop.

Joe Friday, I'm not sure how Keyes got the firearm on the plane, if indeed the FBI was quoted properly. I think after Sam was killed, he flew to Vegas. Rented a car and drove to Texas, robbing a few banks along the way. Same question, (I think he used a gun in those robberies) did he fly with a legally checked gun?

I think I'm missing the point about whether he brought the gun from Alaska like he said he did.

I really don't see any reason to think he did anything other than check his gun properly in a proper bag. He wasn't on anybody's wanted list or anything. He had no reason not to. It didn't have to be a big bag, either. Yes, if he did, there's a record for it, but all that would do is confirm his story. It wouldn't lead to any new clues or help uncover any other potential victims.

I found this... Not sure if its been solved or if its connected but Canton and Tupper Lake are only about an hour from Constable, NY. There is footage of the mans face if someone can take a still shot and post it for comparison? There are also a few missing people from that area also, I will try to link them later....

Here is a screenshot of the bank robbery suspect. I can definitely see a resemblance.

Everything is just speculation now. With both the victims and perpetrator being deceased it's going to be really hard to have all the answers, and then wonder if they are the right answers. This makes it so hard on the families because now they don't know for sure what happened to their loved ones, and don't know where their bodies are. Serial Killers are liars, they will tell you one story one day and then retract it the next day. I've heard several serial killers say that if they got out they would immediately start killing again and even fantasize in prison of killing.

This is stomach turning and heart breaking :(

And it does remind me of the white truck from the Lauren Spierer case. The white truck with mounted tool boxes they thought they saw on video. Probably just a coincidence (I believe Spierer's so-called friends are the only ones involved with her death/disappearance) but wanted to mention it.

Someone from the FB page says he lived in Port Angeles, WA around 2003. Close to Port Townsend and Bremerton. Lots of camping, trails, parks etc nearby.

Long shot, given where he claimed killing, but when I read the ABC story abt him traveling the US/long distances to kill, and this:

"He described several remote locations that he frequented to look for victims--parks, campgrounds, trailheads, cemeteries, boating areas, etc."
link
my first thought was Amy Ahonen here in CO, given where her car was found, etc.

Just a thought.

Here is the link to the surveillance video from inside the 'Common Grounds' coffee kiosk when Miss Koenig was abducted. Many have probably already seen it, but I hadn't, prior to tonight.

He actually orders a coffee, which she makes for him. You can see how startled she is when she goes to hand it to him. It's obvious that is when she realizes the threat, as she puts her hands up. He then tells her to turn out the lights, and get down on the floor. I was surprised at how long he was there with her. And, at how clever he was not to be at all identifiable on the tape.

I find it chilling how she was just going about her normal work routine, until this predator showed up. How quickly and easily an ordinary day can slip into a nightmare, and her last hours alive.

When talking about who they were to their friends and family:

"There is no one who knows me or who has ever known me who knows anything about me, really. They are going to tell you something that does not line up with anything I tell you because I'm two different people, basically. And the only person who knows about what I'm telling you, the kind of things I'm telling you, is me." ~ Israel Keyes

"I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves. They didn't bother to find out who, and what, I was. Instead, they would invent a character for me. I wouldn't argue with them. They were obviously loving someone I wasn't." ~ Ted Bundy
