AR AR - April Andrews, 15, Pea Ridge, 18 Nov 2006

Longtime Pea Ridge resident Lucy Hale still remembers the day she called 911 in November 2006, around the same time April went missing. Hale said she and her grandchildren thought they heard something out of the ordinary that night.

“We thought we heard screaming from a truck, so I looked outside and it looked like a brownish truck,” Hale said. “And I went back in the house and called police.”

**I wonder if the connection was made when April went missing?

In the video, Darren Bobb says the Benton County Sheriff's Department plans on having a briefing this morning.

Northwest Arkansas Crimestoppers Line:
790-TIPS

I can't find an article that says it, but I think Channel 5 said this morning they were trying to locate her family. I was half watching/listening, as I was preparing for work, and think that they said it was to give them an update. Did any one else in the area hear that, or did I misunderstand?

Her father reportedly died before she went missing.

Her mother, whom she supposedly told that she was headed to the nearby Pea Ridge Church of the Nazarene to look for clothing before she went missing, is supposedly still living.

The Charley Project refers interested parties to the Pea Ridge Police Department, even though the Benton County Sheriff's Department is conducting the current investigation highlighted in the local news of late.

"Detectives are investigating new leads in a cold case after local law-enforcement officers spent the last few days searching a pond for the body of a missing girl."

"'The letter was not specific enough for us to continue and justify the search in that area of the pond, so we’re going to focus on the new leads it has produced with individuals that have come forward,' Cradduck said."

"'There were a couple individuals who were persons of interest and suspects, and those individuals have been or will be interviewed again to make sure we have the information we need, and they corroborate with their original testimony or statements they gave,' Cradduck said."

Sooooo....Are the "persons of interest" new, based on new tips? Or are they the original "persons of interest" that are just being re-interviewed?

Note that 40/29 is running both these stories almost side-by-side on their top stories bar AND the 4:22 story is plastered across the top of their page under "breaking news." Were these two stories written by two different reporters who didn't consult with each other? One makes it sound like it's new POIs based on new information; the other...new? old? clear as mud?

Typical Arkansas journalism. FWIW, The other two stations also reported "new" persons of interest.

I tried to find some stories from when she first disappeared, but this is the closest I could find.

from the story:
April originally was listed as an endangered missing person because people thought she was kidnapped, Pea Ridge Police Sgt. Cerilla Doyle said. Now "Everybody thinks she is a runaway," Doyle said. But police said that doesn't change how they approach the case.

Interesting to note that Ms Doyle went missing in October of 08.

There are still people in NWA that thinks one has to do with the other. Anyone that has lived here for any length of time has heard about the "good ole boy" system of justice in Benton county. Especially under the previous two sheriffs.

I won't comment on the "good ole boy" system too much lest I find a hawg head in my bed! :scared:

http://5newsonline.com/2014/11/18/b...-task-force-to-8-year-old-missing-child-case/

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office has assigned a special task force to the eight-year-old April Andrews missing person’s case.

Sheriff Kelley Cradduck formed the task force hoping it will bring a new perspective and fresh eyes to the case, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The detectives have started from the beginning, examining old reports and re-interviewing witnesses, to find any element that may have been previously missed. They will also be taking innovative approaches to try to solve the case.
