Ughhh..... he looks super creepy!!! Poor Maddy :scared:

You know, her family and friends have worked REALLY hard to keep Maddy's profile in the media. They've created FB pages and done interviews - I so wish that Kylie Blackwood's friends and family would do the same........I truly believe it makes a difference JMO

It looks like the "best friend" that played some part in this, isn't the one that was linked. If that makes sense. I was thinking maybe it was the mother who said the most disgusting things. I'm so glad that Maddy keeps getting more and more attention.

Nice report on Ch 10 news tonight about the fundraiser for Noah - they had a good turnout. Will put a link up when I can. :)

There has been a lot of publicity about ice and its connection to brutal crimes in Vic recently.

Maddison was mentioned in one article about it by the Herald Sun from yesterday - snippet below was posted on the Justice for Maddy FB page.

Another article on 27th March alluded to Maddison's murder by an ice addict.

The Herald Sun recently reported on a case where a magistrate was told that a man suspected of murdering his girlfriend had an extreme addiction to ice.

A homicide squad detective told the court the suspect took ice immediately after murdering the young mother.

Maddy's mates make difference

THE death of young mum Maddison Murphy-West has exposed the tip of a family violence iceberg.
At a domestic violence rally held on Saturday in honour of the late Maddison, there was no shortage of mourners.

The event was organised by Maddy’s high school friends to raise money for her two-year-old son Noah, following revelations she was allegedly physically abused in the year before her death.

Kelly Murphy, Maddy’s aunt, said the fund-raiser was a silver lining in an otherwise harrowing period for her family.
“It’s put a smile on my sister’s face, which we don’t see very often,” she said.

I recall posting reports about ice addicts in a few threads. There's been so many murders in which that drug was involved. I know I posted about it in Sarah Cafferkey & Jill Meagher's threads.

Wives/girlfriends/women just don't stand a chance when they're faced with an ice addict who is intent on killing them.

I'm sure I posted this one....bearing in mind it's from back in 2006. The situation with ice addicts is a whole lot worse nowadays.

The drug that's transforming normal people into monsters

March 5, 2006

About 12 people each week admitted to the department were suffering from the effects of ice, he estimated, and many ice addicts required five or six staff to restrain them until they were put under sedation.

"They are becoming an increasing burden on the emergency department," Mr Hudson said. "The potential for violence is phenomenal. These people are so violent that it requires the most robust intervention from burly security guards."

On my WS Calendar there was to be a court hearing for Troy Boothey yesterday, Wednesday, April 9, 2014....

I wonder if that hearing was held?

:waitasec:

ETA... I googled it... But found nothing...

I can't find anything about it either, Clue. Maybe something was in the local print edition of the paper? Wish we knew. Would really like to see this get put away for a long, long time.

Ohhh... I so want to see this put away for a very long time, too!

I looked back in my notes...

The April 9th court date came from this article:

[news.com.au 2-26-14]

Quote: "The matter will return to court April 9th."

I believe "the matter" refers to Boothey's access to Maddy's son... And does not refer to a murder court hearing....

HTH...:seeya:

I thought it might be about a drug charge .... :dunno:

I think there is some B&E and drug criminal history there.

The figure is this: every week a woman is murdered by her partner or ex-partner.

During 2012/13, there were 60,829 incidents where police submitted family incidence reports.

60,000 incidents in Victoria alone.

This is a rise of 21.6% on the 50,000 reports submitted the previous year.

Be that person that says something—again and again and again.

Because if we shrug our shoulders when a sex worker is murdered—or a wife is battered to death—then we're diminished as a community.

Chief Commissioner of Police
