I think the deceased security guard should receive a posthumous award.
He exhibits a high interest in sexBondi killer's double life as a male escort is revealed
Bondi Junction Westfield killer Joel Cauchi had profiles on various escort websites, where he offered services for both men and women.www.dailymail.co.uk
"Bondi Junction Westfield killer Joel Cauchi had profiles on various escort websites, where he offered services for both men and women."
"Cauchi, who is from Queensland but moved to Sydney in recent months, listed himself on several male escort websites, including Australia Cracker, Empire Escorts and Escorts Australia.
All websites allow users to upload their pictures and solicit their own sexual services."
"In his bio, Cauchi described himself as an 'athletic good-looking 39-year-old' based in Sydney who was looking for a 'fun time'.
He offered dozens of 'closed door services' which are too graphic to publish.
The profiles, which were set up around June 2023, were visible on the websites on Sunday morning, but were later deleted."
"His Google review history also reveals he frequented strip clubs in Sydney and Northern NSW, describing them as 'amazing' venues with 'extremely sexy dancers'."
To be frank, sex work is a profession available to someone without housing or reliable mental health stability. From what has been said by police and his family, it sounds like he would have found it very difficult to gain or sustain conventional employment. As an escort, he'd just need an ad, a phone, and somewhere to perform personal hygiene if he was doing out calls, or a hotel willing to look the other way for in calls.Bondi killer's double life as a male escort is revealed

Yeah, I'd trust SMH/The Age over news.com.au, which is less reliable than the DM with regularity. News posted his identity first, and said Ukranian, so that was only the first report, and I raised my eyebrows at the time, but what do I know about Ukranian demographics. I posted the later SMH/The Age feed article about him being French a bit further up.RSBM
Not a typical Ukrainian name, especially the family name. I know you're in Australia, @iamshadow21 so you're likely to know what media is reliable.
Brisbane Times says he's French ‘Bollard man’ didn’t know what was happening when he took on Joel Cauchi and mentions a friend with a French name too.
7news also mentions the friend whose name sounds French Terrifying moment man confronts stabbing attacker with bollard
But as I say I don't know if either of these media are reliable.
MOO
Yes, I saw that post where you mentioned him being French, so I did DBM to the post you're replying to.Yeah, I'd trust SMH/The Age over news.com.au, which is less reliable than the DM with regularity. The bollard guy apparently repeatedly shouted a Russian expression at the perpetrator meaning “Get away” so could have some Ukrainian heritage?Yeah, I'd trust SMH/The Age over news.com.au, which is less reliable than the DM with regularity. Maybe so, then. The bollard guy apparently repeatedly shouted a Russian expression at the perpetrator meaning “Get away” so could have some Ukrainian heritage?
It could be.The bollard guy apparently repeatedly shouted a Russian expression at the perpetrator meaning “Get away” so could have some Ukrainian heritage?
They do sound French in that video so possibly some misinterpretations early on and what he yelled was indeed French rather than Russian. It could be.
I also read somewhere that somebody was heard to shout something in French like "Vas-y..." which would be the beginning of "Go away". Can't remember where I read that, so MOO.
what humble heroes. I hope that they will officially get recognised for their actions. They could have easily turned the other way and could have quickly gotten out of there and just saved themselves yet decided to face the danger and likely saved lives with their actions.
The Age seems to have a pretty comprehensive timeline with maps, but it's paywalled for me.
How the terrifying Bondi attack unfolded, floor by floor
Joel Cauchi entered Westfield Bondi Junction with a large knife. Within 25 terrifying minutes, he had rampaged from floor to floor, killing six people.www.theage.com.au
Do we know how many security guards engaged with the perpetrator? I don't think we do. I've only heard about two, but I imagine a centre the size of Westfield Bondi Junction would have a larger team than that, and Myer, as a department store, may have even had its own security/loss prevention staff. With the named deceased man, the named injured man, and this unnamed deceased woman, that makes three. The Age says the 6th (unnamed) deceased victim is a female security guard.
