I find the Krispie Kreme photo interesting. The son doesn’t look incredibly malnourished. Lacking upper muscles but otherwise just thin. I strongly believe we are going to hear that after 2015 the abuse escalated significantly. I’m in no way saying it wasn’t there prior, but I think things got deathly.

The person who said Narcissistic Personality Disorder is on the money IMHO. Not a defence but may help explain how this happened.

Like others, I feel there are facts coming that are going to rattle us to the core.

Does anyone know, could you just put on a KK hat while there or is possible he actually worked there? I’ve never been to a KK so don’t know, are they available to put on sort of like the BK crowns used to be?

KK hands out their famous paper hats to patrons on opening day of a new KK. These type of hats were popular mid century (ie: 1940's - 50's) fast food establishments. Probably a vintage throwback to when the first KK opened. Somewhere upthread someone mentioned a new KK opening near the family home in Nov. 2016.

I may be remembering this wrong, so feel free to correct me. Are we allowed to post the faces in pics of the older children? If so, can we know for sure their ages at the times of the photos? perhaps we should not post any of their faces unless it came from LE/MSM?

Mods, could you clarify, please?

do not ever post pictures of minor children unless they have been identified by the police.

ETA: I am not meaning to imply we should not post the photos, but should we be blocking out the faces of all the kids?

A friend in another state took her grandson into a Krispy Kreme for his birthday because he said he wanted a special Krispy Kreme. My friend told the clerk it was her grandson's birthday and he could pick out any donut he wanted. The clerk gave him a hat like the one shown in the KK picture, and a candle in the donut.

It's my understanding that the Turpin house was new construction a new housing tract in 2014. n A builder will typically build a model of each of the floorplans of the houses that are being built, and hire a staging company to come in and stage the models for buyers. The model homes will often have upgrades a buyer can purchase if the house they're buying is not yet built. When the models are sold, or close to being sold, the models will also be offered for sale.

Yes! got it, thank you!! :)

There is this one from http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5294455/Ex-classmate-House-Horrors-son-recalls-sadness.html
All the boys have on sneakers but there is another one where they all have sneakers in. I’ll find it.

The sandals in this photo are the same in another photo.

Exactly! You'd think the relatives would smell a rat when the older kids did not go to college, get jobs, get married, or in general do the milestones that most young adults do. And even if the family had been told that the older ones had disabilities - as I've pointed out, there is now a tremendous emphasis on further education and employment for young people with disabilities unless they are very low functioning.

Even with family I'm not close to (cousins, etc.) who I mostly know through Facebook and Christmas cards, I have an idea of how old kids are and what they are supposed to be doing. Combined with the homeschooling and reclusiveness, my spidey senses would be going off like whoa.

I hope the relatives are not allowed to be around the kids and young adults without supervision, and doubly hope that they don't get power of attorney or access to the funds being collected for them.

I have 11 nieces and nephews ranging in age from 12 to 29. I would have to stop and think about each one’s current age if you asked me, but I would be able to tell you. And I know where they go/went to school, who their significant others are, whether and where they work, etc. I just can’t fathom the situation with extended family here.

I agree, but why a tomato? The picture of that in my head is amusing. Or as amusing as anything in this case could be.

Oh, I hope the survivors have been able to laugh at something this past week.

She would go the pizza place every other day and order either a slice of pepperoni pizza or a chicken sandwich with no tomato, I take it she hates tomatoes.

Same outfits as the one they are sitting on the white tarp. I wonder if they didn't take these pics themselves with a tri-pod and a timer.

How do you know that? And where did you get that info? Lol so random

Now I love the tomato suggestion!

I watched the 20.20 special On Demand. The thing that I remember among others is that the Home School specialist said that the issue was not home schooling itself, but when people use Home Schooling to cover up evil, illegal activities in their home. I would hope that out of this, California legislation is passed to require stricter licensing and inspections of Home Schools. There are great Home Schools and horrible home schools.

They also stated the home schools often place an utmost authority on rules and compliance, These parents are "Control Freaks" of the highest order, giving new definition to those words. They grew to forbid the children to have any contact with the outside world, because if they did, they would not be able to control them. David's demeanor has been described as "threatening" although quiet. It is even surprising that one of the kids was allowed to attend community college classes, while Louise waited outside the hall and took him right home afterwords.

I believe that these children were terrified of communicating in saying or doing the wrong thing, because if their parents found out they would be severely abused. I would like open a question for the community. Why do you believe that the neighbors, either from Texas, or California, never called the police or social services earlier, despite seeing such bizarre behaviors?

It was awesome on 20/20 showing the medical center with the community donations of toys and games for the kids! Even better was that they met medical staff who showed kindness and compassion for them! Any new updates on how the kids are doing?

Satch

A nearby pizza shop worker said he would serve Louise regularly, having no idea that she had starving children at home.

“Louise was in here every other day,” Matthew Alex Padilla, 20, told the Telegraph. “Sometimes with her husband, and a few times with a little girl, but never more than one.

'We knew each other, and would chat - she was normal, if maybe a bit reserved. I had no idea she had 13 children, because she’d only ever order a slice of pepperoni, or a chicken club sandwich with no tomato.'

I noticed that too. But when I went to the Google map and 'drove' down the street, I saw that the area has grown a LOT since that thumbnail shot was taken. Muir Woods Road now ends many houses down in a cul-de-sac. But what was of interest to kme is that just a couple of houses away from the Turpin house is a street and if you turn down that street, another street.

I can imagine the 17-year-old girl who escaped, going quickly to the corner of the first street, walking down that street, and then to the next street. She would quickly be out of view from the Turpin home.

I have seem that multiple times where satellite and street view are very different. Growth.

I was reading through the posts, trying to catch up once again. I was suddenly struck with the thought of Christmas, only a few weeks ago. Did they have a tree or any decorations? Did the youngest get gifts? Did the parents exchange gifts and make the kids watch? Was there any sort of holiday scticity and the kids were denied to take part? I can imagine there was some way the holiday was used as another form of torment.

It just broke me up all over again :tears:

The pizza guy who served her regularly spoke about her seeming normal, I believe.

So, the oldest Son gets to go to KK (we are not sure he actually had a donut) would this KK be near his college class?

and one of the young girls was seen at the pizza place on a few occasions but we don't know if it was the same child each time or if the food was shared.

Interesting to find out if any of the other children were ever allowed to go places.

Wouldn't neighbors or delivery person/mail carriers be able to smell the awful house from the outside? I made many home visits as a social worker, and some places can be smelled from the street. Makes me wonder why no one reported the Turpins just on that alone.
