I wonder if child serial killer Jon Scott Dunkle might’ve been involved in this case. I noticed that Daniel bears a physical resemblance to his victim, John Davies, who disappeared just a year before he did on November 7th 1981 in Belmont, California (26 minutes away from Fremont). Dunkle was a friend of John’s brother and he admitted to killing him in 1986 before leading authorities to his skeletal remains. He was also responsible for killing two twelve year old boys. Lance Turner on October 2nd 1984 in Belmont and Sean Dannehl on July 3rd 1985 in Fair Oaks, California.

Something I noticed about all of these cases is how similar the locations are in each:

1.) John Davies skeletal remains were discovered in Edgewood County Park in Redwood City

2.) Lance Turner was brutally stabbed to death and left in a secluded spot near Water Dog Lake in a wooded area

3.) Sean Dannehl was attacked on his way home in the evening from a friends home by Dunkle as he was riding his bike. He chased after Sean as he was riding towards Sunrise Boulevard and rammed into his bike knocking him off. He then grabbed Sean and forced him under a large tree where he was eventually stabbed to death. His body was found under that same tree in the American River Parkway near Sunrise Bridge.

** I have read that after Daniel Naylor left his home in Fremont, California after a dispute with his parents on October 5th 1982, his bicycle that he had been riding was found hidden in some bushes in the Alameda Creek Regional Trail near Alameda Creek. This sounds very similar to how Sean Dannehl went missing as he was also riding a bike.

I will post side by side pictures of all of Dunkle’s known victims, including a photo of Naylor to show the resemblance. I am in no way claiming that Dunkle is indeed behind Daniel’s disappearance but his case bears similarities to the disappearances and murders of his proven victims.

What a good job my friend, excellent conclusion...maybe that psychopath has something to do with it and could have murdered Daniel...

If I'm looking at this correctly, Nightingale Place backs right up on Alameda Creek. So it's possible Daniel didn't get far from the door he was said to have exited. Or never took his bike in the first place. If was abducted or a victim of foul play, could his bike have been placed at the creek afterwards?

I find the mention of Daniel returning to his house weeks later curious. I can see $50 being worth it, but leaving a scabble tile message, reading "new life" of all things, a tad Agatha Christie level dramatic. It looks to me more like a way to shift assumptions and give the voluntary disappearance theory some legs, AND avoid a handwriting sample that would be compared to Daniel.

I don't think this was planned, either by Daniel or anyone else involved, and very well might have been an accident.
