Missing Person – Spencer Oliver​

New Hazelton, Missing Person

On Wednesday, April 17, 2024, just before 9:00 am, New Hazelton RCMP were advised that Spencer Oliver, 30 years old had gone rock climbing the day before and had not returned home.

Spencer had left home around 6:00 on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 and headed to a rock-climbing spot near Hagwilget Bridge that goes over the Bulkley River, flowing into the Skeena River. Family were now out looking for him.

Police attended the area and learn that family had located items believed to belong to Spencer. Evidence at the scene suggest that Spencer may have fallen into the river. Police along with Police Dog Service (PDS), local fire departments and BC Ambulance all attended the scene.

Search and Rescue (SAR) was immediately engaged, utilizing significant resources from Houston, Smithers, and Terrace. Search efforts included boats, helicopter, and swift water teams. Search efforts continued until 5:00 PM when and are expected to resume on Thursday April 18, 2024. All efforts to locate Spencer have been unsuccessful.

  • Brown hair
  • Brown eyes
