I think so. I think any of us would do the same thing if we had to. I know I'd be going down a checklist and the first thing I'd realize is that I was going to jail for killing a child -- period the end. So I'd try to find a way to cover up the head injury. Make it look like an accident.

That's the first thing that would come into my mind, especially if I was already trying to find a way to explain it away to my husband.

I'd drive with him in the car somewhere near a quarry or a train track and fling his body down immediately to make the injury and time of death as close as possible. (This all if I was an evil human being.)

Then I'd go back to the Petco to make it look like everything was completely the same. And another reason I'd go back is to buy something but also just in case the security cameras weren't working I'd go back to the same store to be seen twice in the same day thereby increasing the chance that I was recognized.

She did key things that totally point to her being quick witted that day in trying to cover it up. One was that she said she "didn't know where any of his friends lived" which is kind of nonsense. Who just randomly lets an 11 year old walk off with no idea where he's going? IMO that was an attempt to alibi herself when they find his body near a friends house. She'll say "how could I have put it there when I don't know where any of his friends live?" And the second one was the planted google search of "Can my parents find me if my phone is turned off" which served two purposes, made him look like a runaway and also gave her the ability to ask the question for her own phone.

She obviously shows plenty of savvy on her attempts to cover it up. IMO she was doomed when they found the blood in the bedroom. She didn't have time to cover it up but she was doomed by that anyway. That's why I don't think this was planned. She would know better than to leave blood in a bedroom. She would have either put down a plastic sheeting or she would have killed him in a way that left no blood. Ex suffocation.

One thing if someone could answer. Did she say that she took him with her to the story in the first place? Or did she only admit to that when the security camera footage from the neighbor came out?

Also very telling is she never feels the need to explain why she didn't bring Gannon into the store with her.
I don't know if someone has answered your question yet but no, TS never mentioned going to the store or anywhere at all on Monday until after the video came out. All we knew was that Gannon stayed home because he was sick and that he went to a friends house around 3:15.

I agree. Regardless of past circumstances, LH put her children in the trusted care of someone else (at least for a time) and instead of LS looking at her situation as a compliment, and being a positive influence, she chose to consider it a burden. Completely self-absorbed and self-centered. I can't even begin to know how Gannon's parents feel.
Weren't there court cases which determined custody? TS referred to backing her husband in court many times. It would have been him receiving the school year custody, not TS IMO. Not in this interview, it was the release in her own words to the media, after the field interview, one of the 2 pieces of TSs words we were allowed to discuss. I don't think it was said on the Crime online interviews.

Hmmm. That's what I suspected. Again more of it showing that she was trying to hide that he was sick and injured from AS. It also makes sense why he immediately broke down crying when he saw the video. Knowing she'd lied all week about him being home.

Leaving a sick kid in a car is child endangerment. As someone else pointed out, she's got excuses and stories every time she's hit with evidence. But she's silent on the Petco thing until later. Btw someone made a good point as well that perhaps she forgot her Apple Watch could track her until LE started asking about Gannon and what types of devices he had on that could be used to track him and asked if he also had an Apple Watch.

Maybe the penny dropped then to her that she'd tracked herself anyway and so that's why she told about the trips to Petco.

All just thinking aloud.

Instead of stealing something from Petco, could she have been stashing something there? Maybe in the restroom or some other location within the store? She hasn't really said if or why she returned to the store 2 hours after her first stop there.

Before her interview with Crime Online, I thought LS may have left her phone at the Petco by hiding it on a shelf. Since Ls says she left her phone at home that doesn't work.

If Gannon's phone went on the trip she could have hid the phone at Petco and picked it up later. Though I'm not sure why she would bring Gannon's and leave her phone at home.

Another thought. She bought a certain amount of items the first trip and had a receipt for them. She uses/loses one or more of the items when murdering Gannon. She would have to go back to replace those items to match the receipt if she planned on using the first Petco trip for an alibi.

Do you think that the drive to Castle Rock to look for a bicycle to buy for Al is a crock, but a significant part of the story and a clue that might lead LE to Gannon's remains? I can't imagine buying a bicycle for an adult man. Bike's have to be fitted to the rider to find the right frame and then there are so many considerations .. like cleats & shoes or pedals, gears, road or mountain, tires, handle bars ... I wouldn't begin to assume that I knew what bike to buy for anyone over 10 yrs old.

Gannon Stauch stepmom reveals where she went the day Colorado boy disappeared [EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW]

she didn't buy a bike so her story lacks any frame or wheels to back it up... it was simply away to paint her as a wonderful wife who would buy her constantly absent husband a very expensive toy....
Exactly. Every point you make is why I keep saying I don't think it was a planned murder. I think that the first "cover up" was covering up how badly she injured Gannon the night before when she slammed him over the head in a rage.

That's why half her "cover up" attempts don't look like a smart cover up for a "murder" because they weren't a cover up for a "murder" they were a cover up for Child Abuse which if she was accused of would 100% end her teaching career and most likely her marriage to AS. And even worse give LH a superiority as a mother which is something she's very resentful about.

Example "Not taking her phone" is not a "cover up" to cover up where you went that day if you are also wearing an Apple Watch and driving around in a car with a GPS system in it and also going TWICE to a huge chain store that likely has a security camera.

But it is a cover up of why she didn't speak to AS that day if he called. She wouldn't have to explain why Gannon was home from school. She's avoiding talking to AS.

Also when people say savvy or smart I think it's not meant to give her credit. Obviously someone who kills a child isn't savvy or smart in a decent way, it's meant more as conniving and self preserving evil.

No normal person would beat a child to death and even if it was some horrible explosion of rage and mental instability they wouldn't try to cover it up by degrading a dead child even further. They'd break down.

All of this is evil. And her cover ups are desperate. That's why none of them work. She reminds me of so many criminals I've seen in the past who think by "explaining away evidence" they are establishing "reasonable doubt" which will get them off. So her reaction to finding a piece of wood in the woods with Gannons blood on it wasn't OMG someone killed him or "how is that possible?" it's coming up with an excuse "it must have flown out of the truck, he gets nosebleeds and also hurt his foot."

So that's what you mean I think about her not being smart at all. And there I agree with you.

MOO

sorry but one thing stands out here
Gannon was alive when they left the house, if this was a cover up for child abuse what was her intention leaving with him that morning and why did she leave her phone at home?
leaving it at home means she knew she did not plan to bring G home alive.
that in my book is premeditated murder to cover up a lesser crime not some terrible accident,
the same goes for dragging him all over the countryside to go to stores she could have gone to much closer to home.

None of her actions speak to accidental death, had she taken her phone i might be inclined to question that but she didn't.
Not only did she take out a child who needed medical attention she wilfully and intentionally left behind the only way to call for help if his condition deteriorated and made a long unnecessary trip for items as trivial as dog coats ??

This was not a case of child abuse leading to accidental death, this was cold blooded murder to cover up child abuse.

Weren't there court cases which determined custody? TS referred to backing her husband in court many times. It would have been him receiving the school year custody, not TS IMO. Couldn't LH have fought against TS having the children if she thought they were in danger, especially moving to CO away from family.

I am just repeating the version TS has mentioned from the interviews and press releases she has generated. Those which we have been given permission to discuss.

El Paso County Sheriff's Office asking for help finding missing 11-year-old boy
GS of Colorado Springs left home on foot around 3:15 p.m. to go play at a friend's house, his parents say, but never came home. GS was wearing a blue hoodie, blue jeans and tennis shoes when he went missing. He has brown hair with brown eyes and weighs 90 pounds.
- 6:55 p.m., El Paso County Sheriff's Office dispatch receives call of runaway child, 6600 Block Mandan Drive.

Re: TS making the first 911 call:

During the press conference on Tuesday [February 4th] , Sergeant Deborah Mynatt, answering a question from a reporter, “Are you still saying that [Gannon] went missing between 3 and 4 o’clock [on Monday, January 27th],” stated, “That was the only information related to us, and therefore, the first day that the reporting party called in, that was indicated to us. That was the bit of information we had to work with, there were some other factors and information obtained during that call. We type-coded him as a runaway because of information we received.”

Immediately following this exchange (it starts at around 12:40), another reporter asks, “And that was reported by the stepmother, correct?,” to which Sergeant Mynatt answers, “Yes.
- 7:32 p.m., GS entered into state and national databases as active runaway
- Last seen between 3 and 4 p.m. on the 27th
- Nothing found on initial search

Police arrived and looked in backyard with flashlights - A little after 10 p.m. on Tuesdaythe El Paso County Sheriff's Office showed up at Gannon's home. Law enforcement walked up to the home and appeared to be searching in the backyard with flashlights. The garage door was opened and a car was pulled out. We are waiting for an update from the sheriff's office on why law enforcement was there.

Dad (AS) finds out he is missing. "We kind of do the street light rule - when the street lights come on or it gets dark, they better be home and it was like maybe 30 minutes past that...started to worry at that point. Then I started texting all
the friends that we know he goes to and nobody had seen him," AS said.
He said GS didn't let them know what friend's house he was going to in the neighborhood and that this was "unlike him so that's why we're obviously really concerned."
Eventually, the police were called.
"Once we went through that whole checklist it's like, you know, where could he be?" AS said.

Also on Thursday, a Sheriff's Office patrol car with two deputies was parked for an extended period of time across the street from the Stauch family home, and two other men appearing to be law enforcement officers sat in an unmarked car down the street.
However, the officers left the scene after two men and a woman got into a pickup truck parked in the driveway, and drove away.
Many people on social media are wondering why more information about Gannon isn't available. As KRDO NewsChannel 13 reported Wednesday, it is the policy of the Sheriff's Office to investigate reports of missing children aged 10 and older as runaways, until evidence is found to prove an abduction or kidnapping has taken place.

Note- GS was not seen at *advertiser censored* & Go convenience:
At one point, deputies thought GS had stopped by the *advertiser censored* & Go convenience store on Mesa Ridge Parkway Monday night, but after the mother reviewed the surveillance, she confirmed it was not her son.
The sheriff's office says they have information that leads them to believe Gannon ran away. They did not elaborate further. 11 News asked EPSO Wednesday if GS is still considered a runaway and was told he is. Law enforcement and family are concerned about GS's wellbeing and are anxious to find him. GS's father is a member of the National Guard, and the Guard is also assisting with search efforts.

"She doesn't have very much, just what she's been told, that no one has seen GS since Monday," Birkenstock said.
She characterized GS as "a very loving child. Disappearing is totally out of his character; he always has to be with somebody. He's very quiet, very smart."
GS's mother, who lives in South Carolina, and father, who was away for military training at the time of his disappearance, share custody, she said.
Information received during an interview with GS's stepmother and other information lead deputies to believe he's a runaway instead of a missing person, Mynatt said Tuesday, adding that foul play is not suspected.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the ongoing search for a missing/endangered 11-year-oldColorado Springs boy who went missing Monday afternoon, and the task force investigating his disappearance is organizing a team of volunteers to start searching for him.
The search for GS remains an active investigation and the Sheriff's Office said deputies are following up on all potential leads that might help them to find the boy, including continued witness interviews and evidence collection.
Deputies said they have received multiple tips since GS was reported missing. Deputies also said while they are monitoring social media, they are not using it for tips.
At Thursday’s press conference deputies said repeatedly that the main focus of the investigation at this time is to find GS. They also said that while they have been in contact with local trash companies and landfills, there are no searches taking place at those locations at this time.

==============
As of Friday afternoon, the sheriff's office had received more than 70 tips in the case.
On Thursday, 11 News learned The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) deployed a consultant from their Team Adam program to help. Team Adam is a free resource provided by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to law enforcement. Named after Adam Walsh, the abducted and murdered son of NCMEC co-founders John and Revé Walsh, Team Adam provides rapid, on-site assistance to law enforcement (LE) agencies and families in critical cases of missing children.
The National Guard has also dispatched some of its troops to help. GS's father is a member of the Colorado National Guard.
Civilian-led search parties have combed the area in and around the Lorson Ranch neighborhood, where Gannon's home is located.
"So far, we've had random people going out anywhere they can," said Sara Robertson, one of the volunteers searching for GS Wednesday. "We decided to have more of an organized community around here, so we're all meeting here and heading out in different directions. We have about 40 per group. We have it gridded out checking every neighborhood all the surrounding grassy areas and fields ... looking in holes, in culverts, in ditches, anything we can do."

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office gets new evidence in search for missing 11-year-old boy

Feb 3, 2020

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. -- One week after an 11-year-old El Paso County boy went missing, authorities received a new piece of evidence to further the investigation into GS’s disappearance.
FOX31 obtained a copy of this evidence that came from a neighbor's surveillance camera. Authorities have asked us not to describe or show it yet because it’s a part of their investigation. To ensure we don’t compromise anything in the search for GS, we are honoring the sheriff’s office request.
A few doors down, neighbor RD did some investigating on his own.“I couldn’t sleep so I just stayed up and I started looking through [surveillance footage],” RD said, adding, “I looked through on my tablet, then I said, 'Let me look on my TV to be sure.”Police have asked us not to share what he found yet.“This is something the investigators are looking into and it would be part of our investigation,” Kirby said. RD took the footage to GS’s father, who immediately called detectives.“He just broke down crying,” RD said. RD says detectives were moved by the footage too.
“They said this is the break they needed,” RD said.

Couldn't LH have fought against TS having the children if she thought they were in danger, especially moving to CO away from family.
JMO, it sounds like the shifts in physical custody were not entirely voluntary on the part of LH, or at least not her first choice based on her health and other issues. If the military move was happening, it likely wasn't much of a question that G and L would go with their dad (at least for the school year). Additionally, LH did say in the presser following the arrest that even she trusted TS.

I also get the sense that she's justifying her killing Gannon by blaming the parents for putting her in the situation in the first place. As if it's "their fault" this all happened. Mom didn't want to take care of her son for 2 years, dumped him on me. Dad kept going away and not giving me a break. They weren't my responsibility and they were dumped on me so really all of this is the fault of the bad parents.

She's irrationally angry towards them in a time most people would be feeling sympathy or embarrassment. If I was innocent and two parents thought I killed their child I'd be mortified and devastated not vicious and accusatory.

MOO
She definitely comes off that way. Her hatred towards Landen is palpable.

TS is a major cause that Landen’s marriage is over, TS is the cause of Gannon and his sister coming from a broken home and if she hadn’t made the choices she made,

Landen wouldn’t have been out in the position she was to have to give up the care of her children and have their father take them.

She wanted the man but not his family so that backfired on her when Landen couldn’t care for the children. That pissed her off.

So even after murdering Landen’s son, she’s still hating on Landen and doing whatever she can to make her suffer. JMO

Yes, at first everyone was questioning why she would allow Gannon to go to a friend's house if he stayed home from school because he was sick. Then there was the question about her not taking him to the Doctor.

Then we found out that she took Gannon out on a four hour car ride to run errands.

Yes, it is suspicious that she seems to avoid any mention of Petco. She didn't mention it in her interview when she was rambling about going to the Sports store and when she was asked about it in the phone interview there was a long silence before she answered, and she never did reveal what she bought or why she went back a second time.

A small group of volunteers searched an open area dotted with homeless camps near the intersection of Platte Avenue and Wooten Road in east Colorado Springs, around 10 miles from the main search area. No specific reason was given for that search.

The school district told the Colorado Springs Gazette Gannon was absent on Monday. They said counselors would be available at the school.
Police also addressed a rumor that GS’S stepmother, LS, was not fully cooperative with law enforcement. “At this point in time we are conducting multiple interviews and what I can tell you is that each leade we have had is exhausted,” Mihalko said..
He said they are looking at persons of interest, but only meaning that they are people that could give them additional information about GS.

FBI now involved in search for missing 11-year-old Gannon Stauch

LS/TS stood with her back to the camera while she was speaking with CBS 11 on Friday afternoon, in connection with her missing stepson, GS. She was insistent that she would never harm the child, who vanished while under her care.
...
LS/TS explained that on Sunday, she took GS and his younger sister hiking at the Garden of the Gods Park. Afterward, they stopped by to eat at Burger King, she said. GS reportedly did not attend school the following day.
...
Reportedly, LS/TS did not know which friend’s house the boy went to on Monday, according to AS, who said his wife told him that GS didn’t specify which friend he wanted to visit, NBC 5 reports. The stepmother said she couldn’t comment on the details of the case at this time.
...
“My husband’s ex-wife is living in our home,” the woman complained. “I took care of GS for the last two years in our home because his mother didn’t want to do it…OK, and I would never, ever hurt this child.”
...
“I was denied, I was told I couldn’t get nothing to drink, I couldn’t go to the bathroom. I mean it was continually that my constitutional rights were violated,” she explained.

==============

Dear @oviedo,

Thank you for all of the work you've accomplished by compassionately sharing your time to assemble all of this information for us.

You are such an integral part of Gannon's thread and you are greatly appreciated!:)

Namaste,
Zen

I think TS is fine with saying "I told LE about Petco" when it's really "My Apple Watch told LE I was at Petco and LE asked me about it."

For whatever reason, she consistently tries to get ahead of accusations by saying she already admitted to X or Y. She wasn't going to mention Petco to anyone, and she really hesitates when it's brought up (you can practically hear her seething) and then she really really reacts when she learns that her "online friend" knows about the dog coats.

She does not deny the dog coats (there has also been mention or rumor that she also bought a leash). She seems amused and irritated that the public is aware she traveled to a faraway Petco rather than go to any of the ones closer to her house. So she doesn't really remember that the whole point of being up north is to go to Castle Rock to buy a Valentine's Day present. She can't remember to make her story coherent, because she employs excuses one at a time. She really didn't like being described as nervous while at Petco.

AS and TS had been married 5 years in January. I don't think they made it to their cruise.

I have always wondered if that really happened or if talk of separation may have put a "no-no" on that.

she was so panicked that she had the presence of mind to immediately started concocting her alibi after G died in her care?

im sorry but no just no and seriously why would you return to a store you had already been to and made a purchase at? just go to another store with security cameras and shop there

this woman tried to be tricky and calculating but failed miserably
BBM Maybe she left Gannon's phone there and went back to get it? That would make perfect sense, no pings to follow in disposal, unless there is a gps on the vehicle she was driving. JMO

I was out yesterday. I went to last thread to catch up and see discussion of dwap posting a phone call between LS and another person.

I went to dwap and it’s not there. His last post was about rumors and a tattoo. But no phone calls.

Does anyone have a link? Can dwap be discussed now on this thread? I’m confused.

thanks.
