A Colorado nursing student was arrested yesterday after telling his therapist of his desire to shoot children, kill people on Halloween and assassinate President Obama, court records show.

Mitchell Kenneth Kusick, 20, of Westminster, was being held on suspicion of a federal charge of threats against a president.

He identified himself as a student at Colorado Mesa University in western Colorado, investigators said.

Maybe coincidence...but holy heck...Batman Theatre shooter, ARS, now this guy..??? C'mon?

Seems way out of proportion nationally...but no statistics to back it up...

Perhaps the new law allowing recreational pot smoking will mellow many out! (Thought the thread needed a levity break)

lol and thank you for the break. :) I don't wanna get all political especially into something that's not relevant to Jessica (also likely not relevant to ARS for that matter), but everytime those propositions come up in the polls I find myself thinking "well at least you're voting for something that'll most likely just make people mellow." I'd have a wayyy different response to trying to legalize meth or something.

In my opinion, the legalization of pot will have no affect on violent sex offenders.
Some will simply smoke pot.
Some will do it in excess and have no drive.
Some will do it to self medicate.
Others will just do it.
And then we have our sexual predators. Smoking pot doesn't make them stop. Alcohol doesn't either. Btw, I see pot and alcohol very differently!
Anyway, someone that is driven to sexually abuse and/or murder
Is driven to do that! IMO drugs and alcohol just make it easier.

Methamphetamine is known to cause hypersexuality, where people's inhibitions are lowered and they crave more and more extreme experiences.

Marijuana is known to cause snacking on the couch.

War hero Army officer arrested for 'abducting young girls into his car and trying to lure them into sex' over two year period

"A U.S. Army officer who received the Bronze Star for valor in combat is also a predator who has roamed the towns near his Colorado military base for two years trying to lure young girls into his van, police revealed.

First Lieutenant Aaron G Lucas is also believed to have abducted one nine-year-old girl this past summer and and dropped her off a short time later, according to police."

Hi, one of our "flyer papers" (comes in the mail) had a picture of little Aliayah
(sp).. it is circulating all over Northeast Ohio. I wish they could find this little girl. There are so many missing it makes one sick!!:please: :seeya:

Today as I was driving around to put my 2yr old to nap in his carseat I decided to drive down and pay my respects to where Jessica was found. It is about 10 miles from me. As I came around the corner I saw 3 women in purple standing there so I didn't stop. It was her mom and two other ladies (a cousin and aunt maybe?). UGH just heartbreaking.

RIP Jessica.

Sometimes, men that do what Austin did start with peeping, or doing other inappropriate things ... something that may be in a sealed juvenile record. I'm wondering if the counseling that he received at the age of 15 may have been court ordered. I'm also wondering if he did something at school, like accessing *advertiser censored*, that led to the counseling.

Otto, he could have been caught peeping -- and then, if they searched his house, maybe they found *advertiser censored*. I heartily agree that serial murderers often start small, as you said above -- with peeping and *advertiser censored*, as Ted Bundy said he did in his last interview before he was executed. Bundy also gave himself a boost of courage to actually "go out & do the peeping" by adding alcohol.

An excerpt from the interview:

Ted:
I’m no social scientist, and I don’t pretend to believe what John Q. Citizen thinks about this, but I’ve lived in prison for a long time now, and I’ve met a lot of men who were motivated to commit violence. Without exception, every one of them was deeply involved in *advertiser censored* - deeply consumed by the addiction. The F.B.I.’s own study on serial homicide shows that the most common interest among serial killers is pornographers. It’s true.

JCD: What would your life have been like without that influence?

Ted:
I know it would have been far better, not just for me, but for a lot of other people - victims and families. There’s no question that it would have been a better life. I’m absolutely certain it would not have involved this kind of violence.

I agree with you for the vast majority of these crimes, and I don't think getting everyone high on pot will help - I hope it didn't come across that way. I'm just thinking of all the possible drugs to legalize this seems like about the least dangerous one, possibly less dangerous than stuff that's already legal. I think if someone's driven to do something awful they're likely pretty set on it, already. If they happen to smoke themselves into oblivion and forget their plan, well, fine by me. I'm not delusional enough to think it happens a large percentage of the time though. Just a thought that came to mind.

Bundy was full of carp.

He simply couldn't accept blame.

I believe *advertiser censored* adds to our social problems, but if it created Bundy's, we'd all be dead. Plenty of men view *advertiser censored* without turning into raping murderers.

There are a range of conditions required before a freak like Bundy can grow, *advertiser censored* is only one of them. Family dysfunction seems to also be a prerequisite. It's not just one factor but several which combine to make a monster.

*advertiser censored* should only be viewed by those old enough to handle it. I worry about the effect of violent *advertiser censored* on young minds, it can't be good.

Our society has got way more violent suddenly with the internet. I think sickos like ARS are now able to contact each other, and egg each other on. I think we will see more and more hideous crime by youngsters. Now we still have the Bundy's and the ARS's, but they will be able to harvest admirers and followers like never before.

:pullhair:

Sigh.

Awaiting trial is hard.

Watching this thread is painful in the interim.

the thing about *advertiser censored*, and some people just aren't aware so they don't realize it, is that it objectifies people, be it man, woman or child who is the subject of the *advertiser censored*.

The person is not looked upon as a human being. I could go on and on about this topic because I think humans are majestic and noble, not lowly and evil. But we have to rise to our potential and that means that we don't fall into these traps that denigrate us as humans.

We have made tremendous strides here in this country (with lots of setbacks). Child labor is not accepted ( although it happens in the products that we buy), woman have the right to vote, and so on.

I hope we keep evolving to our higher selves

kkd, I am so sorry to hear this. You know there is life beyond for our animals. I saw our Dee Dee in my room after she passed from cancer. I couldsee her but could see through her. It made me feel better. Someday....................:seeya:

Nore, the same thing has happened to me. My cat, very closely resting in peace, has come back several times. I've seen him outside on the deck, waiting to tome into the house. Once he is in, he gets as close to our woodstove (in the winter) as possible, as he always did. Yes, their spirits are strong, and they do come back, but yes, my kittycat does look a bit semi-transparent.

Which is why I can never be a supporter of the Death Penalty. Forcibly putting someone else to death, no matter the circumstances, is a sin.

:cow:

I find it interesting that when an execution takes place, the Death Certificate of the executed individual lists "Homicide" as the Manner of Death (at least in NC it is -- a detail which I add with trepidation). On logical terms, what else would it be, but it's just an interesting twist to me.

Ted Bundy craved attention and, up to a certain point, he was more than willing to tell anyone who would provide him with attention whatever it is that person wanted to hear. James Dobson went into that interview with an agenda and Bundy was perfectly willing to fulfil that agenda.

I think it was Bob Keppel who said that unless you knew the details of the suspected victims of Ted Bundy inside and out, it was no use interviewing Bundy because he would confess to just about anything. I think it was Bob Keppel who observed that there was a pattern to Ted interviews: in the first few minutes, Ted would try to slip some lie past the interviewer and if the interviewer didn't catch it, the rest of the interview as worthless.

As for *advertiser censored*, the crude statistics say that violent crimes have gone down as access to *advertiser censored* has gone up.

Yes, the waiting is hard....I hope he pleads guilty so JR's family can have some semblance of recovering from this horrible atrocity. Such a waste of a bright bright life....

it's hard to say about *advertiser censored*.

When I was in college a million years ago, we never worried about getting raped and I was in plenty of situations where that could have happened. Frat parties, other kinds of parties.

There is so much rape on campus now and most of it is unreported.

As far as Ted Bundy, why believe a thing a serial killer says. I'm surprised that he didn't say that he devil made him do it.

But God will judge him. He sure did not have a chance as a child growing up. It is sad, not that I shed any tears for him as he grows up. But as a little baby and little toddler, yes, it is sad
