Notorious child abductor Randall Hopley living in Vancouver: Police warning
Nov8 2018
"Convicted child abductor Randall Peter Hopley is living in Vancouver and police are warning the public that they believe he poses a risk of significant harm to the safety of young boys.

In 2011, the 53-year-old Hopley snatched sleeping three-year-old Kienan Hebert from a second-floor bedroom in Sparwood, B.C. He kept the child for four days before returning him physically unharmed after Hebert’s parents made a public plea.

Hopley, who had previous convictions for abduction of a person under the age of 14, sexual assault, assault and break-and-enters, received a six-year-sentence for the Sparwood abduction."

Vancouver police say the Correctional Service of Canada has assessed Hopley as a high risk for violent and sexual re-offending.

''He is described as being five feet nine inches tall and 176 pounds with brown hair and hazel-coloured eyes. He was last seen wearing a black coat, black pants and black hat.

Officials say Hopley has a history of assault and sexual assault, and committed three offences of a sexual nature against children in the past. ''

he shouldn't be released if he refuses psychological assessment and rehabilitative measures
well he shouldn't be released AT ALL imo but especially if he hasn't completed what programs he should've in prison
how long will he get this time?

''B.C. Premier David Eby lashed out at the Parole Board of Canada on Sunday, following the disappearance of a notorious high-risk child sex offender in Vancouver.

“I and I imagine all British Columbians are deeply disturbed to hear about the release of a sex offender who targets children,” said Eby, following a warning from the Vancouver Police Department that 58-year-old Randall Hopley had walked away from his Vancouver halfway house.''

Eby said that the Hopley case should prompt the federal Senate to approve a bail reform bill that has been proposed by the B.C. government. The bill seeks to amend the Criminal Code of Canada to make it harder for repeat, violent offenders to get bail.
“It’s hard to underline the importance of ensuring the safety of our kids,” Eby said.''

This guy has no hope of rehabilitation and doesn’t want to be rehabilitated.

He likes kids and will do whatever it takes to get them.

We are FAR TOO LAX here in Canada when it comes to our sentencing.

This guy needs to go away forever.

MOO

''So how exactly did Randall Hopley — a man under extensive supervision orders with a highly publicized criminal history — disappear during what was supposed to be a short trip from his halfway house to a thrift store?
Here's what we know.

Hopley has a history of assault and sexual assault, and committed three offences of a sexual nature against children in the past, according to court records and police.

Notably, he served six years in prison for abducting a three-year-old in the middle of the night from his home in Sparwood, B.C. — about a 20-kilometre drive northwest from the border with Alberta — in 2011. He returned the boy to his home four days later, after holding him in an abandoned cabin.

The 58-year-old was released under a Long-Term Supervision Order (LTSO) in November 2018, at which time Vancouver police issued a public warning that he still posed a risk of significant harm to young boys.''

''Vancouver police say they have arrested Randall Hopley, ending a 10-day search for the high-risk sex offender who vanished after leaving his halfway house on Nov. 4.

The Vancouver Police Department said in a statement that Hopley, 58, was arrested in the city's Downtown Eastside neighbourhood shortly after 6 a.m. PT Tuesday.

The force said it would hold a media availability later in the day to provide more information.

The long-term offender was under a Canada-wide warrant. He disappeared after removing his electronic monitoring ankle bracelet on Nov. 4.''

'Randall Hopley was to appear in court on Friday, but his case was put off until Dec. 8 in British Columbia provincial court.'
