*DEVELOPING*CO Shooting at Movie Theater #1

So far to me, it looks like an intelligent young man -not knowing how to relate and socialise with others fell to depression, his studies went down, his grades went down, he went down -an early nervous breakdown from failure and loneliness spiraling into delusions -meds or lack of meds included -fractured. I do not think his message will make sense, except to those who know the character. Or if it does, it will probably be something many of us complain about. Does anyone else have a theory on what happened with him, and what his message will be?

What another senseless tragedy. :(

I saw the movie Beautiful Boy about a year ago and its said to loosely be based on the Virginia Tech killings. Its interesting in that it is told from the viewpoint of the shooter's parents. I found it very sad and revealing. JMO

I've tried to read as much as I could of this thread and if this has been brought up, I missed it.

Lots of bad bootleg copies of movies get made at these early shows so was wondering if its possible that someone might have captured the events given the way I understand the shooter entered. Might answer a lot of questions, if so. JMO

I don't see where a mugshot ever has to be released. Police "brutality" happens quite often, though the majority of it is well-deserved. And with no witnesses, proving it isn't possible.

1000 deaths in custody in the UK since 1973. Not one policeman convicted of manslaughter.
Plus this weeks debacle

That is what the livestream said.

Also, the trailer for the movie Gangster Squad have been pulled for any future Dark Knight screenings.(Trailer shows a movie theater shooting).

This is not meant to be directed at you Lava, but hearing they have pulled the trailer for Gangster Squad just reminds me:

I'm just going to say this, and I know some will think I'm backwards and too judgemental, but I, for one, am sick and tired of the violence that is constantly spewed out via these movie previews and commercials. It makes me ill to go see a movie that I have researched and felt comfortable with (which, for me, means no violence, no paranormal themes, no vampires, no cruelty) and then have some of the most god-awful images thrown in my face via the previews and commercials. The fact is that our society is addicted to violence through the media and yet we are shocked & outraged when our citizens play these scenes out in real life! I am not blaming the media for the shooting. I do blame them for peddling some of the most disgusting and vile things that man can conjure up. Our society will become more and more like the things that we fill our minds with and that's just a sad reality.

And, it's sickening to think that the suspect was sitting there watching the trailers before the movie was started! It's chilling to think about him watching that and having his own plan in his mind.

Holmes left home to attend UCR, but returned home after graduation and had a hard time finding work. He took a part-time job at a nearby McDonald's to pay for school, she said.
"He didn't have a job,"she said. "I felt bad for him because he studied so hard. My brother said he looked kind of down, he seemed depressed."
Christine Mai and her father, Tom said they never saw Holmes socializing with friends, partying at his house or with any girlfriends.
"James was nice and quiet," Tom Mai said. "He was studious, he cut the grass, and cleaned the car. He was very bright."

So how many people "die" onscreen in The Dark Knight Rises? Just wondering, have looked for info but found none.

Whoa: No one's saying unattractive or fat or dirty people are inherently evil or that blank stares mean blank souls.

Listen, IMO, appearances of killers or people who do horrific things are very, very important. I have been taught since I was small to use and hone my powers of observation. IMO, everyone should.

There is, often, a common "look" or similarities in expression, to people who do things like this. There is, often, a common look or similarities in expression to people who are evil or people who have suffered a psychotic break, have been brainwashed or whatever. I think conversation about that look is important because if you can catalogue it and file it away, if you ever notice that look in a family member or friend who is suddenly acting differently or in a stranger who is acting oddly, you may be able to do something that could save yourself or the person you know.

I can't say if this person is sane or not, or just evil, but something in his eyes and smile looks a bit like Jared Loughner to me.

Does that mean that everyone who suffers from a mental issue has a look? Of course not. Does that mean that "normal"-looking people can't be killers, or can't be evil? Of course not. But appearances can tell us a lot. And those trained in observation, like the Israeli forces at the airport and air marshals, well know that.

Great post. Thanks for saying this much better than I ever could.
I too think his eyes are 'off'. Something in his eyes IMO is amiss.

I actually love some of the villain characters. AS CHARACTERS! It's one thing to dress as a character for Halloween -another to live out scenes, taking lives... So sad.

Ive always sort of rooted for the villains and underdogs too, I dont think it means much, I am a harmless guy lol

The interesting thing about that is the message we send to our kids, the heros like superman, batman etc always win with superior BRUTE FORCE while the villains are almost always portrayed as the smart brilliant mad man. So the message is always brute force is better than intelligence.

Its true if you think about it, most villains are smart but evil and the superheros are strong (not stupid but they usually depend on their brute force strengths to win and beat the villain).

Instead, Fonzi said she went back downstairs and called a non-emergency police number. She said the bass-heavy music kept blasting, as if it was just one song on repeat, until it abruptly stopped at 1:00 a.m. She and her boyfriend figured the music had been on a timer.

Fonzi said they went to sleep, but were awoken by police an hour later and told to evacuate. When she learned about the shooting she said she was glad she hadn't poked her head in. Police later said Holmes' apartment had been filled with "various incendiary devices and trip wires."

Fonzi said she and her boyfriend had never had a problem with their upstairs neighbor before. "It was like nobody lived there," she said.

WEIRD. The music was on a timer?

When do you think the mug shot will be available?

Listening to the Police Chief, he is in no hurry to release it.

He flat told the reporter No when asked about releasing it. Then said "I dont know" when reporter ask when he would release. LOL

I agree that a lot of killers or people suffering a psychotic break down have the same stare. This being my opinion. I always cover the bottom of their face and look at their eyes once photos are put up. I also look through older pictures, when posted, to see if the eyes were always that way (usually not) and when they changed.

It is also sad that we are sending the message that the good always wins. That is not true.

Lol, I know plenty of harmless people that like the villains.

I'd be stunned if there was no history, obvious or obscure. Many people suffer from depression and other degrees of mental illness but would never think to kill. To plan to walk into a theater and open fire with massive firepower is off the charts. I'd be shocked if this wasn't some form of psychosis. To me, his eyes looked drugged; don't know if its recreational or scripts but I see something going on there. His message? If he has a :message it might only make sense to him. Just a horrible tragedy. :twocents:

Most likely will be Federal. So future info may be limited. If movie scheduled at midnight - 20 minutes of Previews. Feature would start approx. 12:20 AM. Sometimes during previews people do use the exits for phone calls / texts. May hold open door with foot - unsure if stepping out will result in lockout.

A suspect determined to commit such a crime could easily gain access alone - even if door was locked. Shock Lock rounds or other means.

Was there a recent press report?
