NARRATIVE: A Florida MISSING CHILD Alert has been issued for Madeline Soto, last seen in the area of the 13500th block of Town Loop Boulevard in Orlando, Florida, who was last seen wearing a green jacket, black shorts, and white Crocs. Madeline has a mole on the left side of her nose and the right side of her chin.

Madeline ‘Maddie’ Soto was last seen on Monday, one day after she and her family celebrated her 13th birthday. Maddie’s mother, Jenn Soto, said surveillance video shows Maddie hanging out in a church parking lot on February 26 after being dropped off for school, but she never made it inside.

Jenn Soto said sheriff’s deputies are using K9s and a piece of Maddie’s clothing to try to track her scent near Town Loop Boulevard.

(Her mother says that she forgot to take her phone that morning, but that isn't unusual.)

MOD NOTE:

We have decided to allow the discussion of the suspect’s Reddit account (https://www.reddit.com/user/Sustinet/). It is considered the same as any other social media account. Comments made from his account that potentially relate to this case may be discussed. Replies and comments made by any other user MAY NOT be mentioned or discussed. They are considered rumor.

Also, as a reminder:
- Name calling of anyone is not allowed.
- Advocating violence against anyone is not allowed.
- The sleuthing or negative speculation of anyone who hasn’t been named a suspect or person of interest is not allowed. (With the exception of JS. See this Admin note) These people are considered victims.

If you have a question, please use the report feature at the bottom of any post to ask us.

Thanks!

***GRAPHIC WARNING***
If you’re going to quote or discuss the graphic details of SS’s arrest warrant, please include a warning of some sort at the beginning of your post. The details are disturbing and a warning would be a courteous gesture toward those who’d rather not read them. (Feel free to copy the one posted at the beginning of this comment)

Thanks a ton!

Allowing Madeline Soto's mother to be discussed as a possible suspect.

Because mainstream media reports, including WFTV 9 of Jennifer Soto giving law enforcement information that "does not add up," we will allow Jennifer to be discussed as a possible suspect.

This DOES NOT mean you are allowed to make up names to be used instead of her real name (momster), and it does not mean that you can be snarky and mean.

You can discuss her conflicting stories when it comes to the disappearance and murder of her daughter, Madeline, and what the implications of those conflicting stories could mean.

Please discuss this like adults without name-calling or personal snark.

Thank you,

Images or information from private social media groups are not allowed to be brought to Websleuths. Private means PRIVATE !!

ALL images require a link to the source, and if the source is not approved at Websleuths, the image is not allowed. No link, no post !

ADMIN NOTE:

We received a question asking if the mother could be sleuthed, and as we are allowing the mother to be discussed as a suspect, members are also allowed to sleuth her as they normally do a POI/suspect.

ADMIN NOTE:

Many posts and responses to them have been removed. General discussion of the death penalty is NOT allowed. It may be discussed in direct relationship to this case as to the potential for it to be on the table, but opinions pro and con about the DP in general lead to bickering and can derail the thread.

Also, please read The Rules, and specifically The Rules: Social Media - Facebook, Twitter, etc. Linking to, and paraphrasing social media posts by victim or accused are allowed, but copy/paste, direct quotes, or posting screenshots from their accounts is NOT allowed.

Rules violations creates a tremendous amount of work for our few Moderators. Please read The Rules that everyone agrees to upon registration with this site. Repeated violation of those rules may result in temporary or permanent loss of posting privileges.

JS omitted quite a lot of info from her media interviews - she didn't tell us why she didn't drop MS off at school herself that day - it was "we" or it was SS. She didn't tell us what she did all day - she only told us that she went to get her daughter, and that when the school emailed her back to say Maddie wasn't in school all day, that is when she knew something was truly wrong. She didn't say if she went INTO her mother's office nearby the school to check for her daughter. She didn't even say if she was frantically calling or texting Maddie while driving around looking for her. She didn't say where she went after realizing MS wasn't in school that day - did she go home? Did she wait at the school for police? Did she mobilize family and friends to come help? She didn't say if she frantically called SS in case he'd heard from her or she went home - ya know, the home she didn't think Maddie knew the address for....

. Is her mum an official suspect?
In the most recent announcement....

Asked if Soto's mother is considered a person of interest, Police Chief Holland said, "Everyone close to Madeline is considered a suspect until proven otherwise."

_______
Also taking into consideration her inconsistent statements given to various media outlets and police... many of us are in the YES camp. But technically not "officially" a suspect.
But NOT NOT a suspect, either!!

It’s notable to me because in the earlier press conference they said “no” and now it’s like “ehhhhh, we’ll see!”

I just had a thought after reading about how "we" dropped her off for school for like the bazillionth time...

If JS was the one who normally took Maddie to school per G'ma... (which makes total sense as it was her daughter)... why would she ask SS to accompany her this one time? We know she didn't actually do that because we know SS was seen driving back with her... but why even state that's what happened? It's totally unnecessary to drag your BF/husband/roomate along with you, that early in the morning, for a quick trip down the street. I'm thinking that "admission" alone raised LE's eyebrows because it just doesn't even make sense. All MOO

Sorry to ask an obvious question, I stepped away from this one as its so devastating. Is her mum an official suspect?
No, not officially. Per Tricia's post at the upper portion of every thread in this case:

I also wonder if she/they tried to call or text Maddie's phone, if they did not, big red flag!

There is no upside to a rapid arrest.

The key suspect is already in jail facing charges sure to stick. LE can take its time developing its case. Any accomplice, accessory, co-conspirator isn't going anywhere either. Not a particular, immediate threat, and perhaps more valuable to LE unarrested than arrested. Accomplices, accessories, co-conspirators can be a data-mining bonanza if they spill it.

A month feels like forever for those who think justice comes swiftly, but in reality, a month is an investigation in its infancy.

No arrest a year from now, that's when we start to worry.

IMO it won't come to that.

Given what we've heard about SS's propensity for pharmaceutical use, I would have been surprised to have seen a murder charge already. It can take 6 weeks or longer for toxicology screens to come back, and I'm sure law enforcement wants all of that information before determining a murder charge.

It's been about a month since she was located and no charges for murder or additional arrests. I am beginning to feel that this was a suicide.
I have considered this before, but the idea gets shot down because of the LE press thinger said it is a homicide investigation. Yet, saying that, they have changed their minds on other things. Maybe they have regarding MOD; for example, maybe in the beginning, it was cut and dry; they found the video of SS dumping stuff and the unalive MS, then found the crap on his phone. It looks like SS killed her. But maybe toxicology or other forensic or investigative evidence has led them to suicide instead?

ETA: JMO and some grammar, typo stuff
