FL - Somer Thompson, 7, Orange Park, 19 Oct 2009 #1

They just interviewed the car pool Mom that drove Somer to school yesterday morning. She said that she also has a rather large birthmark on her lower right leg.

FCN also interviewed the Dad. Does anyone know if he's going to Florida? To me, it doesn't seem as though he is. Not judging, I just find that rather odd.

I just want to clarify something. I feel like I am being attacked simply for stating my opinion.

I in no way have suggested to anyone here to conform to my thinking or to not "probe".

I make no apologies for my opinions and want to make it clear that if there was an actual reason to suspect the friend of the mother then I would.

Until I hear or read something to change my opinion of him I simply don't see where he would even have enough time to do anything let alone clean up after himself.

MOO

Please probe and sleuth away...maybe you will change my mind about the situation.

Orange Park Police Chief Jim Boivin told the Times-Union his agency notified the Sheriff's Office of the abduction attempt, but the investigating officer failed to report it to Grove Park Elementary. He said that should have been done.

"It just slipped her mind," Boivin said.

I don't live in the best of neighborhoods but I will say that when there was a kidnapping attempt in the next school district over they sent a notice home warning the kids to use a different route home if they were walking. IMO, big mistake not to let the schools in the area know about this.

bad.........I read something somewhere that sounded like he was coming to Florida, but heck if I know where.

Boivin said his officers have kept an eye out for any suspicious blue Nissan SUVs matching the description of one used in the abduction attempt.

There was an article posted where he said he's waiting for more information from authorities before he decides when/if to go.

I read a comment on one of the news sites that said her father is in the military. If this is true, then we should all remember from the Lindsey Baum case that you cannot just up and leave, even if your child is missing.

Sounds like mom and dad's heart is broken - things like this don't happen even in your worst nightmare.

Reporting a possible abduction - 'just slipped her mind'...wth!

Not that it really matters but if he is military, I wonder where he's stationed because I'm pretty familiar with the Alamance County (Graham, NC) area (I've got family there) and the nearest military base is probably Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville which would be about 2 hours away. I wonder if maybe he isn't active duty.

on the amber alert chat at firstcoast, a local just said that 90ish RSOs within a five mile radius is "normal" for jacksonville! That is insane!

They said it in the presser at 4 pm. It stuck out to me because it's my fiance's name. I'm unsure of the correct spelling and I didn't pick up on the last name. I'm assuming Patton, though, since that's what others here have said after the presser.

There are at least 2 pictures of the mom and a Sean on her friend Texas' MS...

AMBER ALERT just came over PCSO scanner for Somer.....why first now at 6:07PM?

And 90ish something are only the ones caught and registered. who knows how many of these sick rabbits are running around free and easy.

Hmm. I thought it was issued this morning? :waitasec:

On the other thread they stated maybe because it was just shift change which would make sense - I might have just missed it earlier - and they are making sure each shift change knows about it.

Somer's siblings arrived home safely at about 3:05 p.m. without her and no one has seen her since.

Their mother's friend, Sean Patton, was at the house and asked the children where Somer was and they said she walked off.

Sean and the kids searched for Somer for an hour. when Somer's mother called, Sean told her Somer had not made it home.

She left work immediately and stopped at the Sheriff's Office on the way home to report her daughter missing.

Well that is a new spin on the events!

There is a Sean P. friend of mom's on FB.

I just did a criminal check for all the Sean P. in Florida...assuming the name was spelled correctly, all the SP who came up had misdemeanor charges and/or durg/alcohol/driving problems. Lots of citations. no sex offenders came up at all. Of course, checking on the internet is not always accurate, especially when you're not sure of the age and spelling of the name.
