GA - Boy, 6, accused of stealing money & beat for days until unconscious by mom’s b/f as she watched, Atlanta, June 2023 *arrests*

Disturbing. Interesting that the "mother" took the child to the hospital. Surprised that they just didn't throw him away in the trash.

Also, confused by the fact that the BF had a warrant out, for previously abusing this child, and yet, the child had not been removed from the home at that time. (?)

At least this child is getting the care he needs now, and sounds like he is going to live. Tough little guy.

By Sunday, police say the boy fell unconscious, and the mom tried to give him an ice bath.

On Monday and Tuesday, police tell FOX 5 the mother went to work and got her nails and feet done while her child suffered at home. Eventually, she took him to an area hospital where police were notified.

BBM because 1) WHY DO THESE ABUSERS ALWAYS TRY TO GIVE THE CHILDREN AN ICE BATH??? WHAT SORCERY DO THEY THINK THIS DOES TO "CURE" THE DAMAGE THEY HAVE DONE???? and 2) she got her nails did. While her child lay suffering near death at home after the magical ice bath didn't restore him????

:mad::mad::mad:
I am guessing a reduction of swelling so no one can tell it is why an icebath ,was offered. It not would shock me at this point to hear she had taped potatoes all over him to hide bruises.

Why would a six year old steal $80? Kids that age don't understand money. The roommate must have put the boy up to it. But let's beat the six year because he can't fight back. Where was the roommate at when all of this was going on?

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - The father of a six-year-old who police say was brutally beaten by a Clayton County woman's boyfriend is sharing how the boy is doing after months in the hospital.

It's still a long journey for the boy as authorities say two people face multiple charges in connection with the crime.

"I have forgiven. It's a hard thing to do, but it's all in God's hands now," Bishop Cardwell said.

It wasn't easy, but Bishop Cardwell says he has forgiven the mother of his child and her boyfriend after Clayton County police say they nearly killed his 6-year-old son in June.
[.....]
"He's actually made a lot of progress," Cardwell said.

There's a glimmer of hope as positive progress is being made in the recovery of the six-year-old who has been in a hospital for months.

"My son is actually in physical therapy, and although he's not able to walk on his own or not verbal. He's making some great progress thus far,' Cardwell said.

The cases for Ates & Wells have not moved any since their last hearing in August. So do not know what is going on with them...

Bbm.
Ughh.
Prayers for this little guy.

It's weird. I see that they have been bound over to superior, but a search doesn't reveal a case number in superior for either. This was bound over in August so surely it should have hit the superior docket by now??

That's what I have been seeing. Nothing yet from August.... nothing in Superior Court...

Do not know "why" they are having another arraignment hearing. They had one on 4/5/24 where both plead not guilty.
And noticed that Ates has other charges with a different case # - 3 charges below.
