I submitted the following cases to NamUs. Fingerprints on file for both, so probably not a match.
According to Patricia Ann Tigner's ex-boyfriend, he left Patricia at a motel in Champaign, IL after telling her he was going back to his wife in Mississippi. No one has heard from her since. She wasn't reported missing until December 1, 1981. Some agencies give her disappearance as August 6, 1981.
On August 11, 1981, a deceased black female was found lying in a ditch off Highway 120 in Duluth, GA. It was later determined that she had been strangled to death. A newspaper article originally lists the unidentified as 5 feet 7-9 inches tall.
Despite Patricia having a smile in her photo, she shares similar facial features with the unidentified, and both were wearing their hair in a short "afro" style at the time.
If the ex-boyfriend murdered Patricia, he could have taken a detour to ditched her body in Georgia while he was heading south to his wife in Mississippi. Or, it's possible the two took a trip to Georgia.
