Young Trial: Day 75.
Potentially playing the jury Peewee Roscoe jail calls involving Young , Birdman, and others

Currently, the state is attempting to introduce cell phone tower data through a witness who is NOT a cell phone data expert. The defense objected, especially because the state has an actual cell phone expert coming later, so the judge is hearing argument.

Judge has overruled defenses objection and will allow the testimony. Now discussing Steel’s jail call motion from last week.

The judge didn’t want to hear argument on the motion and has given Steel a continuing objection to the jail calls. Honestly, the judge has a stick up his *advertiser censored* this morning and has been more rude than usual.Jury being called in.

Detective Raicey on the stand. He’s an ATF agent now, but his testimony will be related to his experience with Cobb County PD.

Raicey, like the few witnesses before him, is testifying to the Lil Wayne tour bus shooting. He investigated it after it happened. Currently, they’re showing crime scene photos.

We’ve seen and heard all this stuff from multiple witnesses at this point already, so Brian Steel objects to “cumulative”. Judge overrules. Minutes later, the Judge, on his own, overturns his own ruling and decides yeah this is getting repetitive. He tells the state to move on.

Going over Roscoe phone call records the days around the Wayne bus shooting State highlights that he made calls to YSL records employees, Birdman, Duke, Amina Diop, Sxarfaxe

The State wanted to show a video of Roscoe at a shooting range with Thugs voice in the background under the guise of “showing association and that he knows how to fire the gun” even though he already plead guilty Judge rules they can’t use it unless defense opens the door to it

Now playing Roscoe jail callsJail call #1 is with his Aunt, he is heard discussing where he dropped off the White Camaro that was used in the tour bus shooting.

Jail Call #2 includes Duke and Yak Gotti. It's really hard to hear what's going on but, according to the state, there's discussion of someone in the jail with Roscoe having a YSL tattoo and discussion of a "5 point star" in reference to a gang ranking

At this point, the detective got a search warrant for Roscoe's home and found the vehicle from the tour bus shooting

Jail Call#3 - Jail call with Young describing the "Free Roscoe" campaign (his sister picked up first) is heard saying things like "Anyone who posts Free Roscoe on their page, I'll post them on my page" and "every feature or video I'm doing im saying Free Roscoe”

Jail Call #4 - Amina Diop, 's manager at the time and former Republic Records A&RRoscoe is heard asking for paperwork to make his association with YSL "look legitimate and not on some street stuff”

Steel, outside of the presence of the jury, goes on a long rant about how this has not been a fair trial. He lists all the problems he has with the past few days of testimony and asks the judge to strike all of the testimony. Judge couldn't care less.

Both Steel and Schardt's motions for mistrials were denied.

A few posts from (May 13, 2024) yesterday:

@LawCrimeNetwork

The state in the #YSL RICO case want to admit a video that shows Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, also known as PeeWee Roscoe, at a gun range. The judge said he would not admit the video at this time.

#YoungThug attorney Brian Steel requested a mistrial after a former detective called YSL a "street gang" during his testimony on Monday. Judge Ural Glanville denied his request.

Judge Glanville is on the bench, has taken roll before calling in the jury.Former Cobb detective David Raissi is expected to continue his testimony today for day 76 of trial. Today it’s expected to be a short day.

Like usual, attorneys are arguing over evidence before the jury is brought out.Court already started a bit later than the 1 p.m. start time and the jurors are still waiting in the back.

After about 20 minutes of argument, the jury and Raissi are both being brought in to continue with Raissi’s testimony.

One of Jimmy Winfrey’s phone calls was just played to the jury. Some of these phone calls have been difficult to hear because of audio quality.

I'm catching up on today's proceedings but they appear to be a continuation of yesterday with former Det. David Raissi's testimony on cell phone records and location data.

Raissi testified about where phone calls relating to the Lil Wayne bus shooting that Jimmy Winfrey made were actually made.

Some of the calls were placed around cell towers in Cobb County (near the Compound nightclub); near I-20/I-75/I-85 interchange.

The state, once again, showed a video of Martinez Arnold and Young in Louisiana the night of the Lil Wayne bus shooting, from a blogger, Kollege Kidd, which Raissi testified he pulled from social media as part of his investigation.

The state then showed the other videos of Young that Raissi said he got from YouTube and blogger sites.

My tweets will be a bit behind, but after the lunch break, ADA Hylton asked Raissi if the Cobb County Police Department had investigated and identified YSL as a criminal street gang, which Raissi testified they had.

Shannon Stillwell's attorney Max Schardt is the first to cross-examine Raissi.

Schardt asked about the cell tower radius and the location of specific cell phones that Raissi testified about. Raissi testified about location of cell towers, not specific cell phone locations.

Raissi testified that he only sought warrants and charges against Jimmy Winfrey in the Lil Wayne bus shooting.

Now, Young 's attorney Brian Steel is asking questions. Raissi testified that Young had nothing to do with the White Camaro believed to have been involved in the bus shooting.

Steel just went through phone records of Martinez Arnold to determine if the phone was with Arnold in Louisiana.

Court is done for the day and will start tomorrow at 10 a.m. to continue Raissi's testimony and Steel's cross-examination.

ATLANTA — The trial involving rapper Young and the alleged YSL street gang continues on Wednesday.
You can watch the live stream in the YouTube player below.
Tensions in court have continued to be elevated as the trial proceedings extend into the springtime after beginning last November. Judge Ural Glanville introduced some new rules to the court in an effort to speed things up, and Glanville was in a fiery exchange with attorneys.

Judge Glanville has arrived and taken roll. Young 's attorney Brian Steel is expected to continue his cross-examination of former Cobb detective David Raissi. Atlanta rapper @RichHomieQuan was subpoenaed by the state to testify in the trial.

Before the jury and Raissi are brought out, Glanville will hear argument as to whether or not to admit Jimmy Winfrey's indictment in the Lil Wayne bus shooting case.

Glanville did say he wanted to hear "brief argument" on the Winfrey indictment and conviction, I don't know if 45-minutes is "brief”.

@JozsefPapp_

Glanville had mentioned that he didn't want to take arguments while the jury was in the courthouse waiting. He has been hearing argument for an hour, after telling the jury to report to the courthouse at 9:30 a.m. for a 10 a.m. start.

After argument for an hour and a brief break by Glanville, Chief Deputy DA Love stood up and said the state is "withdrawing" their effort to introduce the Winfrey documents through former detective Raissi.

Raissi is now back on the stand and Young 's attorney Brian Steel is now continuing the cross-examination.

Steel is going through phone calls Birdman and Young made weeks before the bus shooting with Raissi.
