GA - Rapper Young + others indicted on RICO & other charges, May 2022. Trial ongoing April 2023, interruptions, lawyer arrested. Fulton County.

@Tippy Lynn, as you already know (bbm) --- the never-ending trial resumes tomorrow...

I haven’t tweeted a lot today because the state still has former Inv. Gaither on the stand testifying about Walter Murphy and the 2015 shooting incident. Gaither has been on the stand four days already and will probably continue her testimony tomorrow as well.

Court is adjourned for the day. Gaither’s testimony will continue tomorrow at 10 a.m.

It appears the state is trying to play two jail calls Walter Murphy made before being done with the direct examination of former Inv. Gaither. Gaither still has not been cross-examined by defense attorneys.

Clarification, one of the calls involves Trontavious Stephens.

Every day I look forward to Cathy Russon's posts. Here is today's synopsis (as always -- it's on par). ;)

@cathyrusson

This morning in #YSL #YoungThug trial the jury listened to about 11 minutes of testimony in a 1 hour 30 minute period of time. The rest was spent with arguments outside the jury and sidebars.

Someone should add up the sidebar time from today. It's a TON.

Day 67 of the #YSL #YoungThug trial is underway with attorneys arguing about the admissibility of two jail calls - involving Walter Murphy and Trontavious Stephens - the state is trying to introduce through former Inv. Gaither.

The jail calls are admitted but with some redactions.

The first jail call being played is of Walter Murphy, where he is talking to his significant other and can be heard crying.

The state is now playing the call involving Trontavious Stephens.

Lunch break until 1:15 p.m.

As expected, they were late to return for lunch. Then bench conferences have become a common theme of the trial so those take time.Gaither’s cross examination, which hasn’t even started, will probably start next week, since there is no court Thursday or Friday.

After a lot of argument and Glanville ruling that a 15-second video of Young can be played by the state, Young 's attorney Keith Adams stands up and calls out chief deputy DA Love for stuff she said to Glanville during a bench conference.

Adams said Love made misrepresentations about the video to Glanville during the bench conference."When we step up to you and we make a representation, it ought to be candid and it ought to be truthful," Adams said.

"If she wins the motion ultimately, she wins, but you don't do it by standing there three feet from you, in your face, and lying to the court. That's what she did, she knew what she was doing and it's not right," Adams said about Love.

Adams told Glanville that, at some point, he has to tell the parties, primarily the state, to stop trying to get him to reconsider a ruling he already made."We are not playing games in this courtroom. These are these people's lives at stake," Adams said.

Glanville noted that it's good that everyone sees there is friction between the state, the defense and the court because it shows there is no collusion.Glanville did advise everyone to consider carefully what they tell each other and what they tell him.

Here is a video of Adams talking to Glanville about Love's behavior at the bench:

Love said she is concerned about the level of civility and personal commentary that is in her estimation not necessary.

Once that discussion is over, Love said she plans to introduce the video and be done with Gaither, so cross-examination will take place starting Monday.

After almost two hours of arguments, the jury is brought back in and the video is played. Love asked Gaither if that is the video she gathered, she said yes and her questioning is over. Gaither's testimony will continue with cross-examination at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

No court Thursday and Friday. Glanville told the jury to be there Monday at 8:30 a.m. to start at 9 a.m.He also told the jury that he signed the order to ensure that they get paid for jury service during administrative days, as well.
