He had recently split up with his partner according to this new article

"Pilot Andreas Lubitz might have been suffering a 'personal crisis' at the time of the fatal Germanwings crash, it was claimed last night.

Reports from Germany suggested the 28-year-old was struggling to cope after a failed relationship when he deliberately ploughed the Airbus A320 into the mountainside, killing his 149 passengers.

The theory emerged just hours after police investigating the disaster announced they had made a 'significant discovery' during a four-hour search of Lubitz's flat, which he is said to have shared with a girlfriend.

Officers refused to reveal details of the potential breakthrough but insisted it was not a suicide note.
Yesterday, Lubitz's boss admitted he had slipped through the ‘safety net’ and should never have been flying."

Lufthansa knew about killer pilot’s depression

......co-pilot with a history of depression was suffering from a “personal life crisis” when he locked the captain out of the cockpit of an airliner and flew 149 people into a mountainside at 500mph, it was claimed last night.

Andreas Lubitz, 28, was suspended from Lufthansa’s flight school for several months before being permitted to retrain and qualify as a pilot.

cant get whole page without login!

article claims he had been treated in 08 for "severe depression" (we would typically only diagnose this with being admitted to a psyc hospital)

he was labeled as unfit for flight for one and a half years (makes no sense if he was a flight attdant at this time!)

Here is the headline:

Passengers screamed as captain took axe to cockpit door

what you all think?

He earned his student pilot license in 2010 after flying more than 1,000 hours, Spohr said.
He spent 11 months as a Lufthansa flight attendant as he waited to become a Germanwings pilot, Spohr said.

Authorities also went through Lubitz's luxury apartment in Dusseldorf,

In 2011, he ran the Lufthansa half marathon in Frankfurt in 1 hour and 48 minutes.

As sad and as unbelievably tragic and hard to be forgiven I seek relief in the fact that at least he didn't bring it down over a town or where more people would have gotten hurt.....

Praying for the families, friends and everyone connected....

Heartbreaking,

I read in an article that the pilot tried to enter the cockpit by using the keypad but the co-pilot overrode it by flipping a switch, why was that able to be overrode? Instead of keypad code, I think it should be by either finger or palm print.

Finally someone saying something other than he was a nice guy. From German newspaper PNP, translated to English:

http://www.pnp.de/nachrichten/bayer...-Co-Pilot-laut-Bekanntem-psychisch-labil.html

A good friend of the 27-year-old told our newspaper: "He's a freak, he wanted to become a pilot, but he is mentally unstable, therefore, also had his education interrupted for a few months."

Next, the informant reported: "L. is a real Fanat, for him there was only one target to fly the dream he had been in elementary school.." Themselves have shown that even in his apartment. "He had his whole room with wallpapered plane pictures throughout the Lufthansa emblem pictures of old machinery, new, from the largest machines could be seen hanging on the wall and were everywhere aviators. utensils on display, even over his bed The informant also mentioned a "dropout" of his acquaintances. "That's why he interrupted his education. But he did his exam."

Today I've read on and off. From what has been gathered he's a pedofile, gay, terrorist with depression & an ex girlfriend. Yup. Read it.

Come on Significant Evidence!

eta, a comment on one of his fb sites listed in one of the MSM reports posted today, checked it out and it was immature. Guys with pants down farting with a lighter behind them kind of stuff. Guy ice skating with a chain saw cutting the ice video...Some stuff is funny, but guess my mood wasn't right checking it out. jmo

I think this is very likely. This is not normal. He was going back home and to me it seemed like he didn't want to for some reason or another.
Hopefully they can get access to his cell phone records, which can provide with more information.

Well sure some people who know him are now saying he's "mentally unstable," but what would they have said about him last week before such a tragedy occurred? I don't trust sensationalistic articles for that (and other) reasons. Rumors vs truth. I'll wait for something more official.

I've always thought the London Times was one of the better papers in the UK, it's not a tabloid. The ax breaking was also reported by the German papers.

wow
if accurate thats huge:

Yesterday, Lubitz's boss admitted he had slipped through the ‘safety net’ and should never have been flying." Carsten Spohr, the head of Lufthansa which owns the budget airline, admitted Lubitz had slipped through the safety net with devastating consequences.

more from your post richard:

Lubitz's flat, which he is said to have shared with a girlfriend.

depression and ‘burnout’ which had held up his career.

rumours that his personal life was seriously troubled; (bipolar?)

Airline chiefs confirmed Lubitz, who won an award for ‘outstanding’ aviation skills and dubbed himself ‘Flying Andy’,

FBI would be important to suppress any information of his time here in the US. I checked Maricopa Co Superior Court and there's nothing civil or criminal for him. Not surprised.

Professinally speaking, this sounds like more might have been going on than depression guys. and matchs with post describing immature activities (farting stuff) just my opinion!

"dropout" of his acquaintances --- does this mean inability to form relationships - ???

When does the voice recorder get released?

It varies by all sorts of crazy stuff , investigating body, country of crash etc etc . I learned that with the recent ones . Here in AMerica, we get printed transcript in like two days and then parts of em get leaked. Old ones (crashes) are all over the internet

some links to get some:

transcripts:

http://www.planecrashinfo.com/lastwords.htm
http://www.tailstrike.com/

NTSB has tons of transcipts of cockpit recordings. They are at the end of every accident report, since 1996 (476 of em!)

http://www.ntsb.gov/investigations/AccidentReports/Pages/aviation.aspx

to listen to actual tapes, (some may not like but they are amazing to me), most of them remain so "together " until the recording ends.

One more thing- here is the link to the lead agency involved in this investation:

https://www.easa.europa.eu/the-agency

CNN is getting all MAL370 on us! Could there be an accompice that lured the captain out? Could the pilot have been given something to make him HAVE to the restroom! Maybe we should have three pilots! Universal air marshalls ! GIve me a break!

THey stun in stupidty!

I wonder what the 'significant find' is. Maybe they found notes of his plans. This whole thing seems planned somehow. The moment the captain goes to the toilet when they just so happen to be flying over the Alps. I don't know. Suicide pilots have no problem killing everyone on board, but mostly crash the plane in a rural area. Maybe it was just a coincidence. I am just wondering.
