ID - 4 University of Idaho Students Died in Apparent Homicide, Moscow, 13 Nov 2022 ****Media Thread**** NO DISCUSSION #2

Attorneys for the suspect in the Idaho college murders are pushing to have his trial moved out of town, with a judge allowing them to go forward with a survey of potential jurors. @LizKreutzNews reports.

Attorneys for the suspect in the Idaho college murders have pushed for a change of venue, arguing that an impartial jury cannot be found in Latah County due to its small size and the enormous publicity the case has received.

A judge ruled that attorneys for Bryan Kohberger, the man suspected of fatally stabbing four University of Idaho students in 2022, can continue surveying potential jurors in Latah County, Idaho, as part of an effort to change the venue of the trial.

Latah County Judge John C. Judge initially ordered for the defense to stop contacting local residents about the trial, but reversed course on April 22, ruling that Kohberger's attorneys "may continue its surveys without modification to the survey questions," according to court documents obtained by NBC News.

@CoffindafferFBI

#BryanKohberger wants to unseal anything that he believes might benefit him but wants to keep sealed anything that doesn't.

Hoping Judge Judge doesn't play that game.

Meanwhile, the jury pool will continue to receive calls and hear survey questions which sorely taints what potential jurors may and may not know. BK's team played this brilliantly.

As a balance, select jurors from Boise but keep the trial in Latah. It's their community that suffered so...

"The defense will call on for hearing the IGG portion of their 5th Motion to Compel in the above entitled matter on 5/16/24 at 3:00PM as a closed hearing upon agreement of the parties."

Shortly after defense attorneys for Bryan Kohberger claimed he had an alibi for the night four University of Idaho students were murdered in November 2022, the prosecution has responded by calling the alibi legally inadequate.

HAPPENING NOW: Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four U of I students in their off-campus apartment, is back in court today. They're arguing whether an upcoming hearing will be public.

The state argues discussing points of evidence in the public eye BEFORE a trial could create problems in regards to giving him a fair trial. The defense says the state hasn't disclosed info/evidence about Kohberger they say they've collected.

The state says there's not point in "trying this case before the media." There will be a time for evidence to be released, and they say that should be the trial.

Regarding evidence of cell phone towers, for example, Judge says, "It's complicated" to open that stuff up to the public.

Taylor: There are things in the affidavit of probable cause that have been public for a year and a half. It makes no sense that we can't have the evidence they're citing in that affidavit be public.

Judge says the hearing on the 14th will be closed

Bill Thompson: The idea that the state is strategically witholding evidence from the defense is "nonsense."

It's fascinating to hear attorneys on both sides of the Kohberger case saying at different times, in different hearings:-We don't want to try this in the media-The public deserves to have as much access as possible

#BryanKohberger is awaiting trial for the alleged murders of Ethan Chapin, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Kaylee Goncalves.

During a hearing over Genetic Genealogy evidence in the #BryanKohberger case, Judge John Judge stopped the attorneys at one point frustrated with their courtroom behavior. “Tone it down,” Judge Judge said. “When it starts to be personal, it starts to be destructive."
