IL IL - The Unidentified Victims of John Wayne Gacy

why are they coming forward now????? why didn't they come forward 30 years ago.......or when Mowery went missing? I think Gacy and Gacy alone was responsible for all the murders.

hey do u know is there is a thread started about Herb Baumeister, he was a serial killer in Indiana in the late 80's early 90's, i believe out of his eleven known vicitims only 5 have been identified, also i believe he is suspected of being 1-90 (?) killer as well.....thoughts/info......appreciated

There's an entire serial killer section that you could go through, or do a search for his name. If not, you should start a thread!

Wasn't sure where to post this. Thought this thread was best as we have discussed Cook Cty ME not utilizing NamUs for years and years.

Dr. Stephen Cina will take over for Dr. Nancy Jones as the new Cook County medical examiner

Dr. Cina says it will take five years to bring the Cook County M.E.'s office up to acceptable standards.

The article mentions he is expected to begin working in Cook in September. I'm hoping he will make utilizing NamUs one of his priorities. Would be nice to see these remaining Gacy UID's identified as well as many other Cook UID's named.

Wow. It is amazing (in a bad way) that some people don't do their jobs (or maybe this is just marketing/propaganda by the new person OTJ), or is it a lack of funds (meanwhile there seems to be plenty of money in the entertainment and sports industries, not to mention the ultra-rich and their over-the-top-to-the-max indulgent lifestyles). Yep, I said it!

ARGH!!!

Cook County is more corrupt than outsiders would imagine. You only hear about the worst stories, you don't hear or see the piddly carp that happens on a daily basis to us peons. lol

I routinely check NamUs for new casefiles (i.e., those with a Date Entered that are within the most recent month or two).

But also, I periodically cross-reference the entire NamUs MP database to my current list to pick-up any casefiles that were added months ago, but were kept private until recently.

This guy came up on the list. His casefile indicates he was added to NamUs in October 2011, but he never came up on my screens before.

Craig Allen Conner

He was missing from Chicago in 1975, and fits the profile for a Gacy victim, so he would seem to be an obvious possible as one of the 7 remaining Gacy UID's.

But his NamUs casefile was created right about the time that Bill Bundy was ID'd, so I would hope that he is on their radar and has been checked out.

I was wondering if you had double checked and asked if Craig Allen Conner had been ruled out?

The contact info for Craig lists both Chicago LE and New Braunfels Texas. It looks like he was a resident of Texas attending college in Chicago.

It might be possible to contact the Texas LE contact to confirm an official rule out. I think Carl's theory based on the timing of the case being entered is correct and Craig is probably ruled out, but since none of the 7 remaining UID's are listed in NamUs - we can't see who has been ruled out. (yes, I checked again, they are still not listed in NamUs as of the time of this post. At least for the public to view. I suppose it's possible they are entered but only for the authorities to view, that option is available at NamUs.)

The department's hope is to find matches of DNA evidence from blood, semen or strands of hair, or skin under the fingernails of victims that link the long-dead killers to the coldest of cold cases. And they're hoping to prompt authorities in other states to submit the DNA of their own executed inmates or from decades-old crime scenes.

This MP casefile has been in NamUs for quite a while without a photo.

I found his freshman-year photo in the 1974 Jeffersonville-Youngsville High School yearbook (which is only accessible if you are a paid subscriber to Classmates).

When I saw the bit in his NamUs MP casefile about the improperly healed right collarbone break, I was thinking that he might be one of the remaining Gacy 7. But it looks like the John Doe with the healed collarbone break had the injury on his left side.

The trip from Lehigh KS to Jeffersonville NY might have gone through Chicago. Chicago is a bit north of the shortest route, but hitchhikers don't usually get the most direct route to where they're going.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this article, but here it is:

Detectives who have long wondered if John Wayne Gacy killed others besides the 33 young men he was convicted of murdering may soon get to search for bodies underneath an apartment complex where his late mother once lived, a law enforcement official said Saturday.

This is the right place, Marilynilpa. Rather than having too many threads on Gacy, the mod's decided to have just one thread here.

Hopefully they will be able to put to bed whether there are any other victims under this apartment building soon. It's been a possibility and in the news off and on for some time now.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said Tuesday that investigators are trying to match samples of blood from notorious serial killer John Wayne Gacy to the scene of a 1970s cold case from Michigan.

Dart, who has been trying to put names to the unidentified victims who were among those found in Gacy’s home, yard and the Des Plaines River in the late 1970s, wouldn’t say exactly where the case in Michigan occurred.

But he said it involved two young boys who were strangled and murdered in 1975. He said records put Gacy in the general area of the killings around the same time, and he said they’re reminiscent of Gacy’s murders. He also said Gacy traveled extensively.

A missing boy thought to be a possible Gacy victim has been linked by DNA to some bones found in the Bass River State Park in New Jersey.

The long-lost remains of a 16-year-old boy who vanished 41 years ago during a camping trip with his orphanage have been identified thanks to DNA testing in connection to serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

Skeletal remains found in New Jersey's Bass River State Forest in 2000 have been identified as Steven Soden who was last seen running from the park with another boy in 1972, authorities announced on Tuesday.

Soden's family feared that he, as well as 12-year-old Donald Caldwell who has yet to be found, may have runaway from their group that April before being murdered by Gacy.

The bones found in Bass River State Park were listed in NamUs as UP 8978

https://identifyus.org/en/cases/8978.

There was no Websleuths thread for this UID, and Soden was not listed in any public MP databases.

12-year-old Donald Caldwell is not listed in any public databases either.
