GUILTY IN - Five people shot to death at 2 Franklin County homes, 25 Sept 2011

There was once a quote by a veteran poster that I never truly understood. I'm not sure why what I'm about to show you brought the whole concept of that post full circle for me, given what I've 'witnessed' in the years I've frequented Websleuths. The post was this; "Websleuths has changed the way I walk in this world." It was profound in it's simplicity, but in it somewhere there was a powerful message that I knew remained just beyond my reach. I understood early on here, that you don't really 'get it' until you REALLY 'get it.'

I went looking for the Facebook page of one of the victims in this crime..any of them, in an effort to find out who the poor toddler was that was found walking along the road alone. These victims were found on Sunday, just after lunch, based on the description of the couple who found her. They were coming back from lunch. I believe I found this child's mother. I believe she was Melissa. This is the last Facebook message that Melissa sent...just after 11pm on Sept 24th....Saturday night....
It broke my heart in a million pieces.....

Person of Interest arrested.

Indiana State Police arrested the person overnight after a SWAT standoff in Franklin County. He was arrested on an unrelated robbery charge and is being held in the Ripley County Jail.

From you link it says that most were shot execution style:

All members of the Napier family suffered gunshot wounds to the head, and Smith had a gunshot wound to the chest.

A person who I believe is related to the victims is stating on FB that the POI just got released from jail for killing 4 other people. I can give a mod the link for the FB of P.A. if wanted but I don't think I can post it because they are not "involved". I am wondering why a person like that was allowed to be released in the first place if that is true??

Out on bond? Or maybe it was something like vehicular homicide or manslaughter or something so they didn't serve as many years? Hard to say without knowing the circumstances. Probably the media will soon pick up on that and give more info.

If real curious you might pick a reporter who is reporting on the case and send them an email with a link and ask them the question.

Or you might see if Indiana has a Dept. of Corrections website and run the suspects name and see if he is still in it.

Hmmm nothing about murder or anything like that but he does have an extensive record. 4 charges of burglary dated the same time, conspiracy/forgery/counterfeiting/application fraud, burglary, criminal confinement and armed robbery, burglary, theft and recieving stolen property, burglary and armed robbery. Not a nice guy at all! Per Indiana Department of Corrections.

This is so sad! That poor little girl...bless those people who helped her...their lives are changed forever, too...

My compassion to all the family and friends of the victims and also those of the shooter...

They talked about this case on my local news tonight and gave a rundown on his criminal history. This sounds like about what they said. LOL except I think you found more than they did.

Police now say they have a "very good person of interest" in the killing of five people in Laurel, Indiana this past weekend.

46 year-old David Ison of Glenwood, Indiana is behind bars at the Ripley County Jail for attempted armed robbery. Ison is not currently charged in the murders five people in Laurel.

The news did discuss that he is thought to have committed a robbery in May, and that he left DNA behind. But it doesn't mention any murders there. But that crime is what he is currently charged with.

Just hours after saying the killer of the Laurel 5 was on the run, Franklin County Sheriff Ken Murphy said he is fairly confident that he has a person of interest in custody in connection with the murder of five people Sunday in Laurel, Ind.

"I'm very confident we have at least one individual in custody that's responsible for these shootings,” he said.

David Ison was arrested in connection with a robbery attempt at an Osgood, Ind. pharmacy. Ison faces a Class B felony charge of attempted robbery in connection with the crime.

Ison has a long history with the law, including 15 robbery convictions.

looks & sounds like Meth . . .

The man and woman who came across a 4-year-old girl who apparently witnessed the deaths spoke with Local 12's Tiffany Wilson on Monday night. The girl, who was not physically harmed, was found around 1:15 p.m. Sunday walking down the road, wearing only a pair of cotton pants. A couple driving down the road spotted the girl, who was barefoot with her thumb in her mouth and tears streaming down her face.

Mary Jane Kessler says she and her husband thought the little girl was just lost. "I opened the door and she clung to me and she said, somebody's gotta help me. And I said, what's the matter baby? And she said, they're all dead. And I said who's dead? And she said mommy and pa-paw and ma-maw and someone else."

Kessler immediately called 911, then wrapped the girl in a jacket and started to go back up the road but the little girl told her, "We can't go that way." Kessler's husband says he hasn't seen a child so traumatized since his service in Vietnam.

OMG - this is sad! But also in the article from Channel 12, "search warrant was executed at a residence in Fayette County, Indiana, leading investigators to classify [David] Ison as a person of interest in the Laurel killings." Praying for ISP & their investigation.

Drugs are killing our society!

The Franklin County Sheriff tells Local 12 News he is "99.9% sure" that a man held on an unrelated robbery charge is the lone shooter in the killings of five Laurel, Indiana residents this past weekend.

The victims were found in two different homes. All the Napier's were in one home and Smith was in a home across the street.

Josh and Sandra told Fox59 they are trying to make funeral arrangements. They said a local church stepped up to cover the funerals, but they found out the pastor was related to Ison and have decided not to take that offer.

Richardson said Smith's family cannot afford a funeral and is considering cremation.

How was one guy able to control all 5 of the victims (plus the little girl)? It just seems like there would have to be another person involved.

Woman arrested in pharmacy robbery acquainted with person of interest in 5 murders

She's been arrested for the same pharmacy robbery that Ison was arrested for.

On Friday, Ripley County deputies charged Amanda Napier, who family members say is the sister-in-law to one of the people killed in Laurel last Sunday, with conspiracy to commit robbery.

Friday night, Ison’s stepfather, Bud Richardson, spoke exclusively to 24-Hour News 8, emotionally overwhelmed with the situation.

“We’re so sorry for their losses,” Richardson said of the families of the five killed Sunday. “It’s affected us too. It’s torn our families apart as well.”

From one of the links

Ison is still in jail and his bail has been set at 5 million dollars.

I just keep thinking of that little girl and what she witnessed...
