Invoice for the Defense for Work Performed

Total of $15,051.63 ÷ $40 per hour = 376.29075 hours

Over. The. Limit.

So much for that "fine-toothed comb" HHJP and the JAC were going to use. :furious:

As a Fl taxpayer, I may have to write to the Honorable Judge to ask why limits are set if they are not adhered to.

As much as I hate to admit this (even to myself) I don't think it matters much. With all of the other violations we have documented here on WS ~ we have never seen the defense penalized, have we? We have seen him verbally smacked down in court a few times but other than that it seems like JB has been given many free passes. I do understand that the court needs to make broad-minded and permissive rulings so that there will be no appealable issues but to what degree?

I think JB is slippery and realizes this fact and will take unethical advantage of it as often as he can. I don't think he'll stop until HHJP acts on all of his warnings rather than just admonishing him again.

Dosen't anyone have enough power to stop his outrageous chicanery?

The JAC apparently caught and denied payment when a transcription service billed $1 per page over the allowed rate. Why can they not catch and deny payment for billed hours above and beyond those granted?

The JAC and HHJP both have the authority to stop this. By not stopping it, they are saying that over-billing by $640+ is perfectly fine. Would you ignore this if it were your electric bill? I doubt it. Why should they rubber-stamp payment that was not approved?

I do understand that in the larger cosmic view, this is peanuts. But if you don't watch the small things, they become large things and we find ourselves in a muck of justice. What will it be next time - overpayment to HLee by a few grand? Overpayment to the transcriptionists by a few ten-grand?

Either these rules apply, or they do not. And if they apply they need to be enforced.

Oh I am in total agreement with you, numbers. I was just trying to say that this violation will probably mean no more than the others have. . . and that the defense has seemingly never hit a limit that requires any punishment. I think they've already gotten away with too much!!

I was just reading some older articles about Caylee, and I came across this:

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/en...o-in-joining-casey-anthonys-defense-team.html

<Snipped>
"Strickland said that the defense team had to disclose the money it had received. Defense attorney Jose Baez said ABC News had paid $200,000, an unnamed donor gave $5,000 and former defense attorney Todd Macaluso donated $70,000.

But Kealing noted that money was far more than the $111,000 that Anthony revealed when applying for indigency. The other money went to expenses, Baez told Strickland.

Later, Baez told reporters, ”Everything that the defense has done has in this case has always been 100 percent honest.”"

I wonder if Judge Perry and the JAC have thoroughly reviewed these "expenses"? Where did the money go? :furious:

For your consideration -

We know that JL has been...ahem, "helping" :)innocent:) with the TES doc review/investigation by calling and making personal visits to the homes of those that were anywhere near Suburban Dr. IIRC, the doc review began in very early October. We know all that took a LOT of time. So maybe not ALL those hours are directly related, but I am betting a big % of them are related to TES.

Total from 10/07/10 is $8,506.63.

Talk about a WASTE of taxpayer money! A HUGE WASTE! I am floored by the amount! I am thinking some of that must include reimbursement of some expenses JL forked out and not just "investigative services" at the $40 per hour rate. Somebody help me figure out exactly what that man has been doing to rake in $8.5k over the past 2 months.

My next thought is that Dominic Casey is probably PO'd beyond measure by seeing these figures. He never got a dime out of Baez when JB had the really big bucks!

DC also did not get a dime out of the Anthonys, after being promised payment by their wheelchair bound attorney!

PI Lyons has, to date, been paid $15,051.63 by Florida Taxpayers

This works out to 376.290 hours of work(being paid at the JAC rate of $40/hr)

Is that not 16.29 hours OVER what Judge Perry granted? 300 initial hours plus another 60..and they have yet to have a hearing on the current motion for more investigative hours.

Since DC was emailing psychics a good portion of the time I would say the A's got what they paid for. jmo

Ya know, I started to include that in my post then I *thought* I recalled that they paid him a token amount after they got their CBS payment. Maybe I am thinking about BC?:waitasec:

I now BC got paid from some deal.

Take it as coming from someone who hasn't slept since Monday night. I may be dreaming that, but I could swear CA made a point to say when they received the CBS payment they gave one of them a small payment. As I type this I am now leaning more toward BC.

Yes, the Anthonys paid their wheelchair-bound atty - BC - an amount out of their proceeds. They never paid their P.I. - DC - though. The P.I. DC complained about the non-payment in his emails to the psychic Luke.

:waitasec: doing some math here :waitasec:

$200,00+70,00+5,00= $275,000

Casey revealed $111,000 when she applied to be declared indigent, now that's the total paid to Baez and Lyon

Baez $89,000
Lyon $22,000
Total $111,000

So what happened to the rest, what did Baez do with the $164,000 left?
What other money went to expenses...and what constitutes an expense...new Ipad?
LKB revealed in her departure letter she never received payment, not even the contingency fee.

They didn't spend it on the 24 depositions, thats for sure. I know they tried to create a SODDI with Mr. Kronk's ex-wives, but did it really cost that much? I hope Judge Perry finally holds them accountable!
