The lid is black because it is dirty. Search "esso 20 litre pail"

Most likely hydraulic or gear oil. It may be an older version of their pail as this one has a metal lid with the tabs to hold it on. A google of ESSO 20 litre pails shows plastic lids. MOO

Two things that I see in the photo.
1) Bucket has a lid that comes completely off, like a asphalt bucket.
2) The bottom of the bucket looks like it is metal.

I am not familiar with the bucket Brand design. Maybe someone has seen this before.

Ive had this nagging feeling that the bucket, the "black tar" text and the "spliff" are all related. A spliff is a thin joint consisting of either hash oil or tar heroin. My thinking is that to preserve the body for several weeks, he coated her in roofing tar or something similar, then wrapped her in the tarp. My thinking isn't just based on the texts. If he was simply going to use a tarp, why not do it at Maple Gate on the 3rd or early on the 4th? So he loads the body in the back of the van (presumably) and drives all over town, stopping at the hangar to pose on this pail. Would it had not made sense to go to the farm, dispose of the body, then do whatever business he had to do at the hangar? No, he needed something from the hangar, maybe tar, maybe the tarp?

A bored man-boy psychopath with no accountability, too much money and too few responsibilities? A loser who needed a hobby outside of chasing the next adrenaline rush, with a brain whose serotonin and dopamine levels were perpetually off-kilter as a result of the party that never ended? An entitled narcissist no one had ever successfully said "no" to?

(I'm not a psychologist, and I've never played one on tv.)

To me most murders fall into a category: robbery, rage, revenge, somebody knows too much, etc. (feel free to add)
Usually the underlying factor is always money.
DM needed two sources of income, one for his 'legal' operations, one for his 'illegal' lifestyle.
A smart fellow doesn't spend his legal (on the books) money on illegal things, but there was no way he could buy the eliminator off the books.

Another thought. I was kind of surprised that there was no communication between LB and Millard in the weeks leading up to the crime. Does anyone else think its possible that around the time that Millard started thinking "incinerator" he also got a burner phone to communicate with LB? I know the last calls are to Millard's regular cell, but this could have been due to him either not answering on the burner or the battery being drained or something. I keep thinking in my mind about the trip that LB was promised and that nobody has admitted offering her that. It had to be Millard, and there had to be texts about it. Burner phone? Likely at the bottom of the lake with Laura's?

DM was known for taking the ladies on trips. MOO

I thought along the same lines when the tar was first mentioned. But now that we are hearing about barrels at the farm with handles that fit together, I'm thinking that he took the route of least resistance when it came to work. He wrapped her in the tarp, put her in the barrel container, and hid it in straw/hay in the barn. We may hear more about the barrels when/if they get to DNA evidence.

I haven't seen much about these barrels, but am assuming they are not those used for the homemade incinerator. It was mentioned for a reason that when LE assembled them they fit together. It was also mentioned that they were welded. Who built it for DM?

MOO

Does anyone think the vapor barrier with the red vapor barrier tape on it have any significance, at the top of the rolled blue tarp photo? My instincts tell me that was included with transporting the rolled blue tarp. Surely that would have been blown away by the wind if it had been there for any length of time. JMO that it was included in the transportation of the rolled tarp.

I honestly feel that the barrels were the sections of the dismantled "rocket". From the description when it was reassembled at the police lab, sounds like it fits the description.

Please forgive me if this has already been mentioned... I’m relatively new to these horrific cases, and brand new here. I’m curious if that could be a bucket of tar he is standing on. I know many think the “black tar”text is referring to drugs, but I’m not convinced he did heroin. (Oil or hash i’m sure he probably did). Just was curious on your thoughts, as I’m still trying to wrap my head around all this. I love reading everyone’s thoughts and theories.

Thanks so much to everyone posting tweets, thoughts, and esp billandrew for the timeline. It really helped me catch up a lot quicker than i would have otherwise!

He definitely used heroin, you can pretty much tell just by looking at him, but also the information that has been out.

First Post.

With respect to movements on July 3, the report Shannon Martin filed on Day 9 indicated that the Millard and Babcock phones moved from the tower near Kipling station to near his home in Etobicoke. “At the same time, Smich’s phone connected to a tower at 210 Markland Drive, just a few hundred meters of Millard’s home.”

yes, people who have used hard drugs, have visual cues in their skin, teeth and hair and that give it away.

Millard looks fairly fit in that pic. Nothing like a heroin user imo.

What are the signs you see in this photo DM was a heroin user?

Wasn't the quote also that he had "tried" heroin, not that he was a regular user?
The cocaine and weed (and probably pills) were the more consistent drugs.

I think this is a good theory. It’s suspicious that there’s no communication between them on the books, for this time period. They could also have been using other methods of communication such as messaging apps or Facebook, which he conveniently deleted.

From Billandrew Timeline:

Apr 16 11:18 pm Millard sends Noudga a couple of pictures.
Apr 16 11:19 pm Millard texts Noudga: "There's something not quite right about
that pic... see if you can figure it out."
Apr 16 11:19 pm Millard texts Noudga: "First (with my face in background)."
Apr 16 11:20 pm Noudga texts Millard: "The second one looks like you have
two legs to the side and your dick is on your hip..." (1/2)
Apr 16 11:20 pm Noudga texts Millard: "I can't find anything wrong with the first!"
(2/2)
Apr 16 11:22 pm Noudga texts Millard: "It just looks like you took a close up with
your face in the background... give me a hint!"
Apr 16 11:26 pm Millard texts Noudga: "Which way are things facing?
Does it all add up?"
Apr 16 11:26 pm Noudga texts Millard: "Is this Laura?" Babcock
Apr 16 11:37 pm Noudga texts Millard: "Yeah it is Laura.."
Apr 16 11:39 pm Noudga texts Millard: "She really does try to get on my
nerves."
Apr 16 11:40 pm Millard texts Noudga: "Yup that's Laura."

Sorry if this has been discussed and I missed it, but have we seen or know about what the pictures were attached to this exchange?

Well if so there should be a number on Laura's phone bill that they cannot connect to anyone?
