If/when KR walks free, it will be owing to her own quick wits and her lawyer's qualification, but Proctor's unprofessional behavior would be a major contributor. All of it was so unnecessary. I wouldn't be surprised to see there many dramatic moments in this process. Once upon a time, KR was living with JO, trying to take care of his kids and probably, loved him. I think she never planned to remain friends with Erin, she just wanted to have support among John's family while he was alive. Of course she doesn't want to end up in jail, and I feel she wouldn't. However, even if she walks free, there will be no winners in this story. JMO.
One good thing: this prompted a very necessary audit of people not performing their jobs correctly.

FF Nuttall describes finding JO in the snow. He's a good speaker and easy to understand.

FF Nuttall says JO was found 6-8 feet from the curb of Fairview Rd.

FF Nuttall says a victim's clothing is usually deposited on the floor of their hospital room and later bagged. They needed to remove items of JO's clothing to care for him in ambulance.

FF Nuttall tells ADA Lally he observed injuries on JO's right arm "just below his shoulder" "down to 2 inches above the elbow". JO was "cold all around to the touch"

Judge & jury return.Court back in session.Commonwealth calls Timothy Nuttall, firefighter paramedic for the town of Canton.Nuttall giving an animated account of his career and training, explaining terms, other classes and qualifications.

Lally asks about how one becomes a senior paramedic, what type of ongoing training is required, are you required to be pre-certified.Nuttall answers with confidence and detail.Lally asks about shifts, how many fire stations there are, how are they staffed.

Again Nuttall gives a detailed answers.Nuttall is asked about the weather. Nuttall testifies he got to work early because he knew the storm was going to hit.He testifies firefighters are responsible for snow removal around stations.

Not surprisingly, Lally asks about the snow conditions. Not surprisingly, the answer is “blizzard conditions,”Prosecution asking now about the call.Nuttall says as a more senior paramedic he decided to go on call. 2 other firefighters/paramedics responded.

Nuttall listing other responders. He does not remember who was driving the ambulance.Nuttall was in work early & had not put on gear when call came in. He dresses, and prepares back for response.

Lally asks if the weather had changed.Nuttall says the wind has picked up, and it was snowing. Some jurors are taking notes and all appear to be paying attention.Nuttall detailing responding to patient directly.

Nuttall describes how first responders share duties when treating a patient.Nuttall was in charge of ventilation. He’s explaining how the mask works.Lally asking where body was, indicating a small pool of blood under him. It was dark, still snowing. They used handheld lights.

Lally asking for footage of body from curb.Answers 6-8 feet.Lally asking him to define cardiac arrest.Nuttall does, and describes what action would be taken.

What observations did you make?O’Keefe was dressed for the weather. They were concentrating on getting him out of the weather.Other firefighters were concentrating on extraction. What did you observe the 3 females on the scene doing! The group was quite agitated.

Nuttall testifies lighting was better inside ambulance, they continued CPR, removed clothing, winter jacket sweatshirt, all clothing was removed, which is protocol. Why is this protocol? To assess everything.Testifies a mechanical device was used for CPR

Asked about the missing shoe.Nuttall testifies he wasn’t paying attention to the shoes. Is asked about the chain of custody of clothes. He can’t speak to where clothing went.Affirms clothing in ambulance went to hospital.

Nuttall asked to describe injuries he saw on OKeefe:Hematoma (Egg) on his head Scratches on right arm, 3 - 4 inches from shoulder to above bow.Blood mucus on in back of airway, enough that it needed to be removed.Nose was very cold, appeared to be some blood on nose.

@SueNBCBoston

Observed injuries were not bleeding, maybe because of cold.O’Keefe was very cold and digits were stiff, making it difficult to remove clothing.Did paramedics or you on scene speak to 3 women on scene. One woman said “I hit him, I hit him”He says it was said over and over.

The woman who said “I hit him” had some blood on her face.Nuttall says when he arrived the group was running around “in circles”, he saw no intervention.

Jackson asks about assessment of scene, patient…a person naked in a snowbank vs a person appropriately dressed. Nuttall says same approach.Jackson pointing out that you rememberhe had a coat, you took off. Nuttall, I didn’t remove the clothing.

Jackson showing pictures of clothing. Nuttall doesn’t recognize the clothing.
Jackson - picture is not of a heavy coat is it? Nuttall - no
Jackson - other things on your mind, your job was to save a man’s life right?
Nuttall - right

Humorous moment.Nuttall is answering that scratches on arm were like “furrows”, in a Boston accent.Jackson says he isn’t familiar with that term:Nuttall repeats it a couple of times while we wait for the west coast lawyer to get it.Laughter from the court when he does.

“I’m on your turf,” Jackson says, predicting the moment will become a meme.
