Media links **NO DISCUSSION**

Darn, the whole CNN video came with the link and now I can't get it off!
If anyone knows how to correct this please do so or let me know if this is okay.

And the crime scene photos

The reporters today also viewed 2076 crime scene photos that were not only of the murder scene, but also of the home of Leonard “Lenny” Gonzalez, the vehicles used and the Wiggins’ backyard where the safe was buried under debris. The photos filled two volumes. Many were repetitive.

The photos of Bud and Melanie Billings were particularly gruesome, leaving me queasy after I set the volumes aside. In college, I worked one summer as an orderly in a hospital emergency room. I learned to turn part of myself off and not react to the gore, but the emotions still creep in.

Toys, a dog, children, and killers
Mark Obrien • mobrien@pnj.com • August 30, 2009

At 7,500 square feet, it's a big house — three or four times bigger than houses enjoyed by many people.

The size seems logical, however, when you remember that Melanie and Byrd Billings made that house into a home for numerous children with severe disabilities.

And a look inside shows it pretty much like anyone's home.

Some rooms are neat and spare. In others, there's a toy on the floor here, a blanket out of place there, the comfortable, lived-in feeling of a place that's home to children and pets.

A girl's bedroom is decorated in pink; the girl is sleeping. A dog wanders through a room downstairs. In a hall, shelves hold rows of Hummel-type figurines. Photos on the wall show children.

Children cared for as Melanie Billings wished
Melanie Billings’ wishes for the nine special-needs children she and her husband adopted are being followed.

Ashley Markham, 26, her eldest daughter, and her husband, James “Blue” Markham, have moved into the family’s Beulah home to care for the children, who range from 11 to 4 years old.

In a self-penned will, dated July 2003, Melanie Billings said that she wanted her children to remain together in same home under the care of Markham.

“If in the event that the guardian is considering placing them in a facility, I wish for the guardian to hire someone instead to care for the children in their home, or it is my wish for a new guardian to be appointed,” Melanie Billings wrote.

Please don't take this the wrong way, not meaning to cast aspersions onto Bud, but this Dr. Phil show was amazing in the parallels between what the husband in the show was trying to do, and the documents filed by Bud. It gave me a lot of insight into the thought processes and intent behind those mysterious documents where he filed liens on people for what seemed to be astoundingly large amounts, and with odd language.

Evidence Released From Billings Crime Scene

Reporter Dan Thomas makes some interesting observations about how fast they were and how they did not appear to go anywhere else, backing up the idea that it seemed rehearsed.
"They seemed to know where to go." "They didn't explore anywhere else"
Also, all dressed as ninjas except:
"A man holding a handgun with a grey short sleeve shirt appears"

From ricksblog.biz "We have heard that Ashley Markham, daughter of the late Bud & Melanie Billings, will appear on Oprah next Thursday, Sept. 24."

Oprah to examine Billings' case
The Pensacola double-murder case that has caught the attention of the world has raised the interest of one of the biggest media moguls of our time, Oprah Winfrey.

Ashley Markham, daughter of murder victims Byrd and Melanie Billings, is traveling to Chicago on Thursday to tape a show with Winfrey about her parent’s mission to help special-needs children and her effort to pick up that mantle, according to Robert Beasley, Markham’s attorney.

This year’s walk will be in memory of Byrd and Melanie Billings, who were one of Dunn’s closest friends.

“They were wonderful people that gave back to the community, and showed me that children with disabilities are still just children,” said Dunn.
