Bianca Jones’ Mother Cries Racism In Baby’s Dad’s Conviction

December 4, 2012 11:04 AM

Reporting Charlie Langton

DETROIT (Talk Radio 1270) The emotions overflowed after father D’Andre Lane was convicted Monday of child abuse leading to death of 2-year-old Bianca Jones, with him lashing out at the judge and claiming he was an innocent man railroaded into prison.

And it continued Tuesday, with the toddler’s mother saying racism was at the root of the prosecution, and Lane’s attorney saying an “appeal is in the works.” Lane, who continues to claim his daughter was snatched in a carjacking, was sentenced to life in prison without parole...

Why on earth does this woman continue to support the man who killed her child? What does he have over her that she cannot see D'Andre for what he is? :banghead:

This strikes a little grandiotic to me. I understand that he is going to want to appeal his conviction but he will also right every wrong in the justice system? Not even "going to try", but "will". Exactly how is he planning to do that? :waitasec:

Banika said something similar when she addressed the Court yesterday, as well. Now it seems that she is crying racism

JMO, if LE and the prosecution hadn't bothered to go to the trouble of investigating Deandre Lane's tall tale and prosecute him in order to get justice for Bianca Jones, a little black child victim, it could have been an example of racism.

As it is, you shouldn't get a free pass for murdering your child just because you're black.

Big fat MOO.

Don't know if it has been mentioned, but I noticed this:

(Judge Vonda) Evans, during the sentencing Monday, told Lane he used "sex, manipulation, mental abuse and excessive discipline" to control those around him.

Then:

The remarks got more heated when Lane began addressing Evans by her first name, repeatedly calling her "Vonda," and saying "you're a liar" while being escorted from the courtroom.

From The Detroit News: http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20121204/METRO01/212040344#ixzz2E7wFpAQ2

It seems to me that he proved her point right there. (Using manipulation, mental abuse and excessive discipline to control.

These 'charmers' don't like being called out. IMHO, Lane has no respect for the law or others. It is all about HIM.

MOO - DENIAL. If she admits he is a murderer then her baby is gone. WE know that already, she won't allow herself to see it. She is also clearly still brainwashed by D'Andre...

I'm still :furious: that both D'Andre and Banika claimed before the Court that LE did not look for their "missing" daughter :what: IIRC, daily searches took place for nearly two weeks. D'Andre did not participate, providing the lame excuse that his attorney and LE advised against it. And, Banika must have a short memory because she showed up at the search headquarters several times to thank volunteers.

Many of the searchers did not live in Detroit but traveled there from the suburbs to help find the little girl. Those who were unable to participate in the searches donated money and/or food. I phoned in an order to a donut shop near the church that was used as the gathering place for searchers because it was too cold to be outdoors (I have asthma).

Additionally, playing the race card at this point in time is nothing short of ridiculous. Practically all of Detroit's police force is black, as is the Mayor, Prosecutor, many Judges, etc. I looked through media reports yesterday for the jury composition but couldn't find the information. If Terry Johnson was concerned about the racial makeup of the jury who would decide his client's fate, it was up to him to make certain that there was representation by the African American community of Wayne County. That shouldn't have been too difficult since close to half of the county is black! The Prosecutor - Kym Worthy - who brought charges against D'Andre is black, as is the Police Chief, and the Judge who tried the case. How can anyone suggest that racism played a role in D'Andre's verdict and sentencing?

:moo:

The wordings were kind of similar so I wondered if DL and Banika are in contact.

Regarding the racism issue, it's a leaf out of Jerice Hunter's book.

Anyway, this case was never about a choice between blaming a white guy and a black guy. DL's description of the carjacker was:

Police released an artist’s sketch based on the dad’s description of one of the two men he said carjacked him: A 6-foot-tall, 190-pound black man, 25-30 years old with a medium complexion, wearing a black shirt and black pants. Lane said the man had 5 o’clock shadow and wore a brown and black ball cap.
http://www.blackmediascoop.com/2011/12/05/cops-search-for-missing-toddler-after-carjacking/

So, basically the case was about blaming a black man vs. blaming another black man so where does racism enter in that?

^ Oh, I'm sure that Banika visited and/or talked with D'Andre regularly during his incarceration. Furthermore, Lane probably demanded that Banika speak on his behalf at the sentencing so that the Judge would know (and the public would know, too) that the mother of the "missing" child doesn't think he's guilty, so why should anyone else.

Too bad, D'Andre. A jury of your peers found you guilty as charged, and the Judge sentenced you with the mandatory penalty for your crimes.

:moo:

I am sorry, I do understand that Banika is in denial, but I am  at her for her accusations. Denial is one thing, but blame and poor accusations are over the top!! And, at this point, to stand behind this creep and shift the focus on to the "good guys" is ridiculous!

BBM

I believe he as "advised" against it because of the threats on his life/fear for his own safety...

Both of them were in the media on numerous occasions. IMO these two gained more media attention in the month or so following Biancas so called "disappearance" than I can recall having seen in many years.

:moo:

I agree she probly did visit him

It is obvious to me that she is still enamored with DL. For the life of me I can not wrap my head around it :banghead:

She also has made statements here:

http://detroit.cbslocal.com/2012/12...m-in-dads-murder-convicted-dad-of-her-murder/

“I just really feel like we were misrepresented as people, as parents, as a family, people just took a snapshot of our lives as unemployed, low-income persons and made their own conclusions from that … We were involved and loving parents,” mother Banica Jones said.

There was coverage for months and she has been helped by people of this city for over a year now!

Here are a few articles and stories from April 2012 when she she received the keys to her home that Mitch Albom and Rescue Mission Ministries refurbished and payed off for her. Shoot they even gave her a job!

Of course both article still contain statement from Banika that pertain to
belief in DL's Innocence

I think Bianca's mother passed from denial into pathological denial a long time ago.

I do agree that some of her actions are based on her feelings for this man but I also think that she may be more psychologically fragile than is shown by her media interviews.

I do think it's possible that she is in pathological denial. She may even be delusional about the circumstances.

^ Now that D'Andre is in prison, it won't be easy for Banika to visit him or talk on the phone like she could when he was in the Wayne County Jail. Perhaps the reality of the situation will eventually set in, and Bianca's mother will come to terms with the loss of her daughter. Given that Lane is/was engaged to another woman, I don't understand Banika's continued attachment to this man. :moo:

I am so sad for Banika as well as Bianca - those comments tore me up...I can neither pretend to understand, nor can I defend them. But I just feel the hurt and/or denial from her words...and it makes me so sad.

Detroit judge speaks out about convicted killer's outburst in her courtroom

Judge Vonda Evans speaks out about heated words with D'Andre Lane, who was sentenced to life in prison for daughter's murder

DETROIT -
Two-year-old Bianca Jones has never been found.

However, her father, D'Andre Lane, has been convicted of murdering his young daughter. He was sentenced to life in prison this week.

The crime has left a lasting impact on the judge who sent Lane away for life after his emotional outburst in court.

Judge Vonda Evans' exchange with Lane is not often seen in the courtroom. He talked back and interrupted her several times, and even addressed her by her first name as he was being hauled off to prison, calling the judge a liar...

http://www.clickondetroit.com/news/...oom/-/1719418/17672698/-/4pms15z/-/index.html

I saw the edited version of Judge Evans interview on the late news last night but was too tired to turn on computer and post. Judge Evans said that in her 16 years on the bench, she has never seen a convicted person behave like D'Andre did at his sentencing. I hope and pray that his appeals are futile and that this arrogant, disrespectful child-killer spends the rest of his earthly life in prison. At times like this, I wish Michigan had the DP.
