Circumstances of Recovery - The decedent was found floating in the Mississippi River, approximately at the center and approximately four miles south of the Jefferson Barracks Bridge. It was reported that a river boat pilot found the body of the deceased and took it in tow for approximatey one and a half miles south tot he landing known as the Barbour Metal Boat Works. A tire chain was around her waist.

Tire chains, for reference. They're used to gain traction in the snow/ice during the winter. The chains are solid metal and usually pretty heavy, probably heavy enough to weigh someone down in the water. These specific ones are over 90 lbs.

Her live-in boyfriend, Joffrey Bertrand, was a pimp with a criminal record and a history of domestic violence, and Bertrand is the prime suspect in Reeves's disappearance. Authorities believe he probably murdered Reeves, but he was never charged and is now deceased.

Could this man forced her back into prostitution, taking her to St. Louis?

Good possibility. Unsure of the likelihood that Bertrand would have taken Alice to St. Louis, but LE may have info in the case file that would show whether he or Alice had ties to St. Louis or areas where they would have had to pass through STL. The tire chains make me think of someone with access to a semi. We can't read into a crystal ball, but I wonder if perhaps Alice maybe met with a John who took her to St. Louis. I know the profile states that Alice was "trying to get out of sex work" but it could be she took a "this one time and I'm done again" date to cover a financial hardship.

The timeline is a little off unless Alice was alive for a while after disappearing in May'67, assuming the ME's estimation and descriptions are accurate (see below). Still, I think you should submit. We've seen weird stories, including miscalculated ages, unfold when it comes to MPs & UIDs. MOO

Almedia's thread has interesting information (especially post #4 regarding the 1969 divorce) that makes me wonder whether these could be her remains. It would be nice to know whether she was accounted for during the 1969 divorce. If the rumor mentioned in the circumstances section on her NamUs profile is true, I wonder whether she and the truck driver were together for a few years then either lived or traveled to or through St. Louis in 1968.

Ellen L. McCullum Drake (22) went missing sometime in 1967. Her whereabouts were unknown. She could have been in Portland, OR but also had ties to Missouri.

Ellen’s hair was naturally lighter blonde/strawberry/red but dyed it frequently. A photo is below showing her with black hair.

She could be a good candidate for this JD with the dyed hair and ties to Missouri.
