Id take the Armenian, Greek, North Italian with a big grain of salt. Sounds like a Gedmatch Oracle estimate done by someone who is not terribly familiar with how the calculators work. I have Italian/Greek show up a lot in my results and I have nobody Italian or Greek in my tree. It just shows a certain Mediterranean genetic influx at some point in my DNA but it does not mean I am ethnically Greek or Armenian.
Is there any source where the results come from? LE did not officially release anything, right?
I trust the oracles if they're interpreted correctly and this appears likely because they list a region.
I'm 1/2 Armenian, but here is my closest Armenian match. He's a likely third cousin with one side of the family from my family's town. The other side is from a different region, I think about 200 miles to the NE of my family's.
1 Abhkasian + Assyrian + Cyprian + Georgian_Jewish @ 2.947053
2 Assyrian + Cyprian + Georgian + Georgian_Jewish @ 3.045645
3 Georgian + Georgian + Lebanese_Christian + Lebanese_Christian @ 3.160120
Here is his Oracle 1:
1 Georgian_Jewish @ 5.354889
2 Armenian @ 5.744278
3 Assyrian @ 7.457525
He might have family near the Black Sea. (Can't remember now)
Here is my Oracle 1, but the confidence is low and not accurate
1 Italian_Abruzzo @ 10.777067
2 Greek_Thessaly @ 11.721316
3 Central_Greek @ 13.097758
Oracle 2 is close enough 50% Assyrian +50% West_German @ 3.575516
But my Oracle 4 is also accurate enough:
1 Armenian + Austrian + Lebanese_Druze + North_Dutch @ 2.107794
2 Armenian + Austrian + Lebanese_Christian + North_Dutch @ 2.162761
3 Armenian + Hungarian + Lebanese_Druze + Southwest_English @ 2.16656z
This particular Oracle 4 just kinda got lucky with Armenian. Most of them list Assyrian first.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to determine that I'm 1/2 and 1/2!
However, they probably can't determine whether she's Greek, Italian or Armenian or whatever...just that she's regional.....It probably would be futile to look at specific communities! She could be anything from the SE Med region.
