The Chapel Hill Police Department is seeking the community's assistance locating a missing person. Darlene Wilson, 59, of Chapel Hill, was last seen on May 10, around 5 p.m., in the 100 block of Windsor Circle.

Wilson is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, and weighs about 180 pounds. Wilson uses a walker.

Anyone with information should call 911 or contact the Chapel Hill Police Department at 919-968-2760 (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday). Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crimestoppers at 919-942-7515 or visit https://chapelhillcrimestoppers.com/.

It's unfortunate the Chapel Hill PD waited a month to release the alert. I saw nothing about this in local news or social media before this press release.

The address is adjacent to Carolina North Forest, a popular area for mountain biking, hiking, and running, on land owned by the university, UNC Chapel Hill. It's about 750 acres of mostly forest with gravel roads, single track trails, and some paved greenways.

I would agree if that is the situation. She may not have been reported until just recently for some reason.

Good point. FWIW there is an Oxford House in the block where she was reported as last being seen. Those are group homes so they could have been hesitant to report her as missing if they thought she might perhaps have gone somewhere else. Not sure if she was a resident there or not, it's just speculation.
