They could be waiting on toxicology results, or trying to locate next of kin. Or maybe the media just didn't pick it up.

Or it could be hmmmmmm.

I know! This article states they would be able to release an ID by that Thursday in February! http://m.wmbfnews.com/wmbfnews/pm_/contentdetail.htm?contentguid=od:QEwZxAcw

It's been just over a month since that Thursday and I can't find any mention of an ID let alone COD.. Makes ya go hmmm...
I just did another Google search for bodies found in Dillion County. There are sadly a few recent ones that come up and all but the one we are questioning have been ID'd. Really odd IMO

If someone feels comfortable, they can call the Sheriff's office and ask to speak to the detective on Sara's case. You can tell them you just want to know if, you can rule out Sara. Leave a message and they will get back to you. No harm.

Assuming SG worked at the Pembroke Walmart per http://wbtw.com/2015/03/12/officials-praying-they-find-robeson-county-teen-as-fbi-joins-search/

Routes offered by Google Maps from SG's home area to her work at Walmart.
These routes vary in distance but are about the same in estimated driving time (23 and 24 minutes).

Area where the vehicle was abandoned: Estimated 7 min drive from home area.

Closer look at route from SG's home area going past location area of abandoned vehicle and then to Walmart.

I guess the thing that keeps bugging me about all of this is the location of the abandoned vehicle.
The location imo stands out as a place to conceal the vehicle mainly from traffic along Centerville Church Rd.
It's also about the only place along the route to conceal the vehicle out of view of a house.
This to me indicates that the location was strategically chosen. Like some planning went into that particular spot....not sure why.

I noticed the same thing. I kept double checking to make sure one of the IDs I was reading wasn't the body found by the bridge.

I'm suprised there hasn't been ANY mention "waiting to contact family before ID" "no ID" "pending toxicology" etc. It could definitely be because the media never picked it up but I'm still suprised there was no statement released either way especially because of this ongoing case with Sara.

My hmmmms are still in place.

A month is not long at all by LE standards, especially if toxicology is involved or the lab is backed up. If they had to transfer the remains to one of the national labs for more advanced technology, it could be summer or later before we hear anything.

Yes very strange! I may contact the poster of the article and ask why not updated.

Here's a map that shows where the van was found and where the unidentified body was found in February:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/1231+McDonald+Rd,+Lumberton,+NC+28358/34.4187515,-79.2268487/@34.4651481,-79.2051136,12z/data=!4m9!4m8!1m5!1m1!1s0x89aadb411581c939:0x7c0e7e54550fa2e7!2m2!1d-79.128221!2d34.570337!1m0!3e0

but wouldn't they have said something by now if it was her??

Thanks for that...here it is with a slightly different route to avoid town. If this does turn out to be Sara then further evidence may be located along one of these routes...maybe. Might also indicate that someone knew their back roads

Can't the family ask that the autopsy results be kept private beyond the police using what they need to pursue or close the case? Her Father is a LEO. I am not really sure.

I was wondering something similar. If this body appears to be a suicide will it be kept private?

It depends on what the state laws are. Florida and some other states have sunshine laws that require the release of public information. States like Massachusetts have privacy laws that protect the average person. I don't know where North Carolina falls on that spectrum.

Normally, suicides are not reported on in NC but I'm not certain of the exact laws pertaining to release of information. JMO

If you go to this site you can find the link to North Carolinas sunshine law pdf (I'm not sure how to copy the actual link to the pdf)
