GUILTY NE - Juliette Geurts, 2, beaten to death, Gering, 11 July 2008

This video is enough to make a person cry .. and it did. Love these people who have been so active in seeking justice for Juliette. The memorial at the end of the video was beautiful.

I did cry! I can cry just looking at a picture of her beautiful face.

The video with this article is identical to the article.

Sheriff Mark Overman says that despite issuing arrest warrants, it will still take time to get convictions.

"On cases like these that are very serious charges, there's a lot of discovery; there's all sorts of things that are filed in court," Overman said.

Sheriff Overman doesn't sound at all encouraging. He sounds pretty pessimistic.

At least he's WAY better than the "dead babies" guy. :furious:

:woohoo:

Charyse Guerts’ arrest expected ‘soon’

Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman said Thursday he expects the arrest of the mother of a slain toddler to come “soon.”

(snipped)

Overman said his department has been awaiting arrest warrants, which were issued Wednesday. He added that he doesn’t foresee any problems in bringing Guerts and Chauncey back for trial.

(snipped)

Overman said the public will become aware of more details about the girl’s death during the trial. He said he doesn’t expect it to be difficult to seat a jury, despite extensive publicity about the case.

I'm sorry but this made me laugh.
Extensive publicity?! WHAT extensive publicity? :waitasec:

Unless you were PART of Justice for Juliette, you probably don't know about this case. :twocents:

And if you were part of Justice for Juliette you shouldn't be on the jury to begin with! :twocents:

We still have a looooong way to go before we see justice but at least, FINALLY, the wheels have begun to turn.

As far as the attorney statement about "extensive" coverage. I agree, that is a joke, how long have those dedicated to bringing these [unusual person] up on charges had to rally, beg, plead, march and take this case to the social networks to even get anyone to notice this poor child and what these [unusual persons] did to her??

For those of you who have followed, shared, and done what you could to publicize Juleitte's case, I salute you!

Exactly! It took a petition by the citizens to get the ball moving. How long would they have waited had the petition not been submitted? Too long and then it would've been too late.

I wish Murder 2 was on the table for Dustin. That dirtbag (sorry...well, not really) deserves to rot in :jail: Charyse needs to lose rights to her 2 remaining children too, if convicted.

I just saw the arrest on J4J's FB page and it made my night. I'm sick and I needed something to cheer me up.

She already posted bond! :banghead:

Charyse Geurts posts bond after turning herself in

A former Gering woman indicted earlier this month in the death over four years ago of her two year old daughter has posted bond after making her first appearance in Scotts Bluff County District Court.

Charyse Geurts is charged with being an accessory in the murder of Juliette Geurts and providing false information to police. Bell Island, the attorney for Charyse Geurts, says his client turned herself in to Scotts Bluff County authorities Thursday night and posted a $5,000 cash bond after the court hearing Friday.

(more at the above link)

I expected that, nobody with even half a working brain turns themselves in without having bail options already lined up :(

I hope you get to feeling better Bree.

I haven't really participated in Juliette's thread here at WS but I have been following and sharing her story on FB.

Was so excited to see movement and attention by authorities, finally.

I agree about Dustin but the video of Charyse boo hooing really torqued me off. There is no dang way she did not at the very least hear what was going on in that dinky place. Sorry, not buying it. I hope she finally pays for her deplorable behavior.

I agree! Except her attorney will say that she took a sleeping pill. And, my response would be "so you neglected your daughters which resulted in the death of Juliette?" Who takes a sleeping pill AFTER returning home from the ER where you claim your 2yo sick daughter had a SEIZURE? A real parent wouldn't! My child would have been right there beside me in my bed. No way, no how, would he ever have the opportunity to beat her. My child comes first!

If I were a betting person, they were both under the influence of something (Brandon the 3rd person admitted that he was drunk/passed out). Dustin probably was by Juliette's crying and lost his temper with her. Umm...she was sick! She was a baby who depended on HER MOTHER :furious: to care for her and protect her! :furious:

Sorry for my rant! This case just makes my blood boil.

Mother in custody in ‘Juliette’ case

The mother of the toddler slain in the “Justice for Juliette” case has surrendered to local police, attorneys for the woman said Friday.

Her attorney's statement is a joke.
And I think that picture is too.
Does it even look like the same person?

LOL sure she has attempted to help LE before. Guess that is why she has been charged with obstructing justice and lying to LE now!
And maybe she is missing Juliette. With the boyfriend not around now she has more time to miss her. And since she isn't with the boyfriend any longer then it must be more apparent that she got the bad end of trading her daughter for her boyfriend.

Please correct me if I am wrong. But, does she not have another child with Juliette's father (not her twin)? I believe a younger daughter?

And if so can the grandparents also obtain custody of her?

Casey is home, so he could go for custody if he doesn't already have custody of A.
It was said that Casey had one or both girls, but I wasn't clear on the details.

Geurts first court appearance is Friday

The mother of a two year old Gering girl indicted earlier this month in the toddler's death will make her first court appearance Friday according to the bond document.

25 year old Charyse Geurts will be arraigned at 10 a.m. in Scotts Bluff County District Court, according to the document.

(snipped)

Geurts' attorney Bell Island has filed a motion to quash the charges, claiming there is an error in the charging document.

She then appeared at a Friday hearing and entered a not guilty plea.

Please tell me that is NOT her mugshot. Please? :banghead:

If she is SMIRKING in her mugshot I think I'm going to scream. :furious:

And if that IS her mugshot... did her lawyer take this picture as she arrived to turn herself in and release it to the media?

http://www.starherald.com/news/loca...cle_35272cd0-6747-11e2-bbd8-0019bb2963f4.html

Same hair, same shirt, etc. Those pictures look like they were taken at the same time.

Quote from the Star Herald (link in above post):

“She has attempted to help the police in investigating and prosecuting the person who killed Juliette. Not a day passes that Charyse does not think about her daughter,” the firm said in a press release.

“She supports the county attorney’s attempt to prosecute the person responsible. Charyse has surrendered herself to the authorities in Scotts Bluff and continues to maintain her innocence in the death of Juliette.”

If she thinks so much about Juliette and supports the attempt to prosecute Dustin (the alleged person responsible), then why hasn't she been doing more? Why did it take Juliette's Aunt Monica demanding answers? WHY?

GMAB! She had hoped this case would never receive the attention it has. Wasn't it her family that was making rude comments on J4J's FB page about the families determination? :banghead:

Oh yes Bree, it was her family. Let's review...

This is important:

We have not seen Juliette's mother fighting for justice.
We have not seen her begging for an arrest.
We have not seen her in the media until they cornered her and forced her to talk.

All that Charyse has done is threaten Juliette's family with lawsuits for having the facebook page for Juliette.
(And in my opinion they have been far more kind to her than I would if she was MY sister in law.)

She obviously never wanted justice for her beaten, murdered daughter, no matter what she says she wants.

Actions speak louder than words Charyse.

I think that says all I need to know about Charyse.

Good thing so many other people care about Juliette! :seeya:
