"A search of the Newark house of a man accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old led to the morbid discovery of mummified human remains and an “altar to an unknown deity,” the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced Friday.

Robert Frank Williams, 53, of Newark, was charged with various endangering the welfare of a child offenses, sexual assault of a victim between the ages of 13 and 15, child luring and desecration of human remains, officials said.

The Newark Police started investigating Williams after they received word that he sexually assaulted the child for several months in 2018, authorities said."

I wondered if he murdered someone, perhaps another child victim of his sexual abuse or perhaps a former partner? Or it could be something like an elderly relative died and he is still collecting Social Security benefits. Or something more benign.

Unfortunately Newark is in a fairly big area so very difficult to check for missing people without more information.

"In the same area of New Jersey in 2002, a local woman who claimed to be a high priestess of the Palo Mayombe religion was found with pots of human remains in her basement, reports the New York Post.

Miriam Mirabal, 61, reportedly directed followers of a grave-robbing gang to collect human remains for her to use in her priestess practices.

During her trial, the prosecuter is reported to have said: "[The ring] will never be smashed."

Police also found an alter to an unknown deity in Robert Frank Williams’ bedroom, officials said. They found the remains and altar when they executed a search warrant Thursday in connection to the sexual assaults.

Williams allegedly sexually assaulted a minor over a period of several months, beginning in 2018.

He’s charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault for engaging in an act of penetration upon on a child younger than 13 years of age, first degree endangering the welfare of a child for the production of items depicting the sexual exploitation or abuse of a child, second degree sexual assault upon a victim who was between the ages of 13 and 15, second degree luring, third degree endangering the welfare of a child for engaging in sexual conduct with a child and second degree desecration of human remains.

In the above posts there is talk about a 13 year old child. I wonder, is the 13 year old a girl or a boy. In a lot of articles it's about a girl, also in this header, but in this article they are talking about a boy.
