Identified! NM - Isleta Pueblo, UID female found, Feb'04 - Sonia Lente

Just catching this thread now. Capoly and believe thanks for the updates and Capoly thanks for the side-by-side!

Futurecriminologist. I totally hear you on stumbling upon possible matches purely by coincidence, has happened to me a few times in the same manner.

FWIW, I also understand about being a bit nervous to call. I was a tad bit nervous on my first few calls to LE and explained as Capoly had above. I was downright chicken and scared out of my mind to make my first call to a medical examiner. Believe, really had to "coach" me and offer lots of support as I wanted to get my 'feet wet'. In the end, the ME was, imo, much more at ease and friendly to talk to and extremly appreciative of the tip and that someone was at least looking even though what I submitted was not a match.

Good luck, and by all means if you don't care to call a tip in, someone here will.

TY! and good luck on the match!

ETA: Now given the choice, I'd prefer to call a ME than LE, especially on an older case. I waited a month after making contact with LE to contact the ME and my call to the ME is what prompted more immediate attention between the ME and LE.

How do we get a mod to mark this 'submitted'?
the title needs to be updated.

I left a message with SA Barry to see if there is any movement on the UID as compared with Ms. Ulrich. I mentioned that it appeared the doe lived with a batterer given the story her bones told...I will let you all know when I hear back!!

Thanks, believe09! :blowkiss:

Thanks, Cubby, hmmm, I'm seeing an add-on to my brain borrow begging list lol :)

Very similar. It almost looks as if one of the sketches were drawn from one of the photos. There are about 850 miles between where Beverly Ann Ozuna-Ulrich was last seen and where the UID was found, however it looks to be almost all interstate travel. About a 13 hour drive; but if someone didn't want the remains found or she was abducted then later killed, it very possible they could travel that distance.

I haven't though SA Barry did say that no information would be given out on an ongoing investigation.

Kind of a continuation......

A member of Beverly Ulrich's family wrote a message to Beverly on her myspace blog. Even though it is accessible for public reading, I just don't feel right about posting a link to it as if it were a news article. (You are all good sleuths....will take but a minute to find should you care to read.)

Don't even feel right about posting this but....the myspace message indicates that after years of no activity, an active LE investigation into Beverly's disappearance is now underway . Seeing as this activity followed our contact with LE re Beverly & NM UID, it's hard to push aside the thought that LE may have found a connection between the two.

Let's hope...pray.....whatever works for you....that this is the case and Beverly's family....especially her children... find some peace in having her remains returned home.

Prayers for some answers!!!

hi believe, any word on this from the LE contact?

Nothing that I'm aware of, FC, the Special Agent is a clam. And when I emailed the NM ME to ask if he would at least be able to say if BU was ruled out as a possibility for his UID....he replied saying he'd received no inquiry re BU to his UID. He has yet to answer my follow-up email. I try to be patient, especially in an area that is dealing with many UIDs as NM is but it has been a month so will email the ME again.

Believe09 may have more to say re SA Barry but, as I wrote, last I knew the man was still a clam. Very frustrating.

what about contacting Beverly Ulrich's LE contact instead of the UID's? they could be more responsive. especially since identifying UIDs are probably not as big of a priority to those agents, since they're already dead, as a missing person might be, who is technically still a "living" victim.

That would be Special Agent Lance Barry...aka The Clam (and I say that with all due respect)....man will not say a word! He is Beverly's LE contact...if you go back in posts a bit you'll read the one I posted re contact with him. And I think believe09 posted about contact with him also.

He is very professional....pleasant & kind but it is a no go when it comes to discussing Beverly as a possibility for the UID. That is why I tried the NM ME, thought he'd be a little more open but that didn't work either. Nada from neither.

I was just thinking about this case. Thanks for posting the update. It's wonderful that she was finally given a name.

it's too bad for Beverly's family though....back to square one with her case, I guess...<sigh>....

Was curious about the resemblance between sketch and Sonia. Pretty good. (though still looks more like Beverly to me)

From February 2014:

http://archive.sltrib.com/story.php...-200/police-albuquerque-missing-mesa.html.csp

Albuquerque police spokeswoman Sgt. Tasia Martinez said the 118th Street Task Force, which was created to investigate the 11 murders, is actively investigating...

The original police list of the missing women, published by the now defunct Albuquerque Tribune newspaper, began with the 2001 case of 20-year-old Darlene Trujillo, who was last seen July 5, 2001, and included Sonia Lente, who disappeared on Oct. 3, 2002...

The remains of Lente, who was last seen leaving a local casino with a man, were found Feb. 25, 2004 in a shallow grave on Isleta Pueblo land.
