NV NV - Las Vegas, WhtFem 55-60, UP355, in bus station restroom, scar, rings, clothes, Jul'82

I found this woman Madeleine Thibault. that looks similar to this Jane Doe. Stats are within reason but the UID's nose is kinda throwing me off.

Was this ever submitted? I think there's a very strong resemblance to this Jane Doe.

ETA: I just sent an email with these three links to CoronerUnidentified@co.clark.nv.us (provided on the Doe Network page):

Looking at the two photos I would swear it's her!

I managed to dig up a bit more on Madeleine Thibault, and unfortunately it doesn't really sound like she would have made it to Nevada - http://www.myvirtualpaper.com/doc/hebdo_le-peuple-levis/peuplelevis_20112112_opt/2011122001/6.html#6 (2011 news article). It mentions that she was having a a difficult time in her life and was depressed at the time of her disappearance, and left the house without taking anything with her... Sounds sadly like suicide. On the other hand, she could have taken off - though difficult if she really did take nothing with her.

I mentioned Lucille a couple of years ago to Carl; nothing ever came of it. But I have something very important to note here that you all need to look at. Everyone keeps mentioning the Jane Doe's nose deformity and maybe it happened when she slumped; or maybe it's from lividity, etc.

BLOW UP THE PIC of her in the stall. She has a LARGE scar that runs from her hairline down her nose!!! I never noticed it before until tonight when I blew the picture up! Maybe that will give us the lead we need!

There is no nose deformity. It is a normal occurrence after death, that if the person's flesh is pressed against an object (in this case, the floor), the flesh will not return to its natural shape when moved away from the object.

In the absence of blood pressure the flesh will not snap back to its normal shape.

The same goes for what appears to be a scar. It might be the imprint of the grout of a tile floor.

Yeah, I don't think that is an actual scar. I think it's a crease from whatever her face was resting on. You can see similar lines/creases to the right of her nose and near her mouth.

I was disappointed that there is no reconstruction of this Jane Doe, even though she was in an obviously recognizable condition when she was found. I've done a rough recon and reduced some of the saggy skin around her face, as she was lying on her back in the pic made available and gravity tends to pull loose skin downward when someone is in that position, which led me to presume her face may have appeared thinner.

Just in case anyone is too squeamish about seeing a dead body, I decided not to upload it directly to the forum, since it relies heavily on the photo of her body.

Anyone know if this woman has been ruled out? I've never posted suggesting matches since I've joined. Mainly just reading and had absolutely no idea that there were so many missing persons and so many people out in this world unidentified. I can't imagine the pain of their loved ones. I came across this woman I'm posting last night and then saw the updated picture of this unidentified woman this morning. The teeth aren't matching up when i dug further though. The uid description says dentures but on one of the other links it sounds more like partials? The family of this missing woman states that she has full dentures. You guys are much more experienced than i am and may know right away these two don't match up, but just thought I'd mention her anyway.http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/s/stevens_shirley.html

I wish we heard back about the initial woman from Arkansas that Carl suggested. The resemblance is very strong. I have looked several hours today for similar looking missing people...she by far has the closest resemblance to this Jane Doe. It seems usually when there is a match with photos of the deceased, the actual photo of the deceased is quite close to the photos of the missing person.

That woman was Jean McKinney, who is also being discussed now. There is DNA and Dental for both of them on Namus though, so I think it's a rule out - no?

Here's one with a slight possibility/resemblance that was added to NamUs in August 2016. There's no circumstances listed for her and the initial DNA inquiry is underway. It's for Barbara Baumann who went missing from CO in May of 1982. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/34839/25

Bumping for this Jane Doe. her story seems quite tragic - she was probably visiting Las Vegas - the Greyhound Terminal sees a lot of tourists coming to visit the city - and she died of a heart attack(?) upon starting/ending her vacation.

As a matter of interest (please indulge a Brit), is LV the sort of destination that would appeal to a lone middle aged traveller?

I guess alternatively she could have been simply passing through Las Vegas with a different ending destination in mind, .....

According to THIS map:

http://extranet.greyhound.com/Revsup/schedules/sa-50.pdf

LV is not exactly a major hub. For someone whose destination is not the city itself, it's an interchange for routes leading E to Abuqueque and Amarillo; NE to Salt Lake City; and SW towards LA.

Obviously 35 years ago the network could have been more extensive than it is today with arrivals from and departures to a wider range of cities.

A thought in a different direction: assuming she was actually a Greyhound customer rather than someone simply using the loo at the terminus because it was convenient, is there anything we could deduce from her arriving by long distance bus rather than air? Would she probably be poorer or of lower socio-economic status?

Also, does it make it more likely that she was simply passing through LV rather than it being her intended destination?

I don't live in Las Vegas, but I've been there two times. This is my take on it: It attracts all kinds of people from all over. Has tons of conventions. When my sister lived in HI, Vegas was a popular vacation destination for folks from the island. The first time I went, the place was nuts - there was some sort of big prize fight right before we got there and as we were leaving there was some sort of NASCAR event that was attracting a lot of celebrities. I didn't see any famous people either time I was there, though. The one thing I noticed about Vegas is that very few people I ran into were actually from there - most were either tourists or transplants. I enjoyed both of my vacations there. ETA: She could have traveled there as part of a group just to go gambling. A bunch of my coworkers and I took a private tour bus company down to CT to Mohegan Sun to go gambling for the night. It was a package deal sort of thing. Some of the people traveling with us were strangers, too, so if any of them had been left behind, I wouldn't have noticed anyone missing except from my own group.
