A woman, killed and mutilated in similar manner, was found four years later in Fishkill, NY - less than an hour North-East of Greenwood Lake where this woman was found. Here is Dutchess Doe's WS thread:
NY - NY - Dutchess Co, WhtFem UP8374, 20-30, dismembered nude body in travel trunk, Mar'80

Thanks for starting this thread!

So this one is a white woman w no hands or head about 5ft tall 119 lbs floating in the Lake. No mention if clothing or anything else. We also don't know if she had light or dark hair.

So far I have found nothing on this poor woman.

Did a little back-tracking on her, taken from around the time she was found:

"Fisherman Finds Headless Body
A fisherman trying to free his line from snag in the waters of Greenwood Lake yesterday found a headless and handless body washing up to the shoreline in Orange County. State police said the body was badly decomposed. A large puncture wound was found near the heart. One investigator said the condition of the body made it difficult to determine whether it was male or female. An autopsy is scheduled for today at Horton Memorial Hospital in Middle-town. The fisherman, whose name was withheld, toll state police at Monroe that he was trying to free his line yesterday afternoon on a small beach in Forest Knoll, 60 miles north of the city, when he noticed the body three feet from the shore."

"Corpse still unidentified
State police are still trying to identify the headless, handless body of a young woman which was snagged by a fisherman in Greenwood Lake Friday. The body, apparently mutilated to conceal the victim's identity, was badly decomposed and submerged in the lake when it was discovered, according to state police in Monroe. The woman had been dead for an estimated three weeks before the body was discovered. An autopsy on Saturday did not reveal the victim's identity or the cause of her death, police said. However, medical examiners were able to determine the sex of the victim and said that she was about five-feet-two. weighing about 110 pounds and was from 18 to 28 years of age. Currently, there is no evidence to link the body found in Greenwood Lake to the still unidentified mutilated corpse found in Rockland County in early March, police said. No missing persons reports on file match the description of the body pulled from Greenwood Lake on Friday, according to state police."

This man is still unidentified, and he is in NamUs
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
There's more about him here:

" Lead sought in murders
State police are attempting to determine whether rope used to bind the mutilated body of a man found March 3 in Ramapo matched a cord tied to the headless body of a woman discovered last Friday in Greenwood Lake. The Orange County coroner's office said that the woman, between 18 and 28 years of age, was killed by decapitation. Ramapo and state police are attempting to determine whether a cord found tied to the woman's left ankle could have come from the same length of cord used to bind the Ramapo victim's body. The hands of both bodies were severed and have not been found. Ramapo police have not been able to identify the man's body which was spotted in woods by a motorist driving along Route 17 two miles south of Sloatsburg."

A THIRD victim is brought into this!

"Bergen prosecutor Joseph Woodcock identified the murder victim as Frank Plsano, 46, of Port Jefferson, a community in Suffolk County, Long Island. Parts of Pisano's body were found Sunday in a suitcase and two bass which had been dumped in weeds by a road in the Bergen community of Moonachie, Woodcock said. Ramapo detectives and state police at Monroe said they were attempting to learn if there were any connections between the three murders."

I haven't found anything else on Frank Pisano, though, nor if the three cases are connected or are connected to Dutchess Doe.

There's a few more details uncovered about the Greenwood Lake Lady in this article:

"No identification on headless woman
MIDDLETOWN, NY. (AP)
Authorities say they still have not been able to identify the body of a decapitated woman found floating in an Orange County lake last month. Results of an autopsy on the woman released Thursday revealed that the dead woman was about 5 feet 1, 110 pounds, and between 40 and 60 years old with brownish-gray hair. The body, with the head and hands apparently sawed off, was found April 16 in the Forest Knolls section of Greenwood Lake, N.Y., with an electrical cord tied around the left ankle. State Police said the cord had been attached to a 31 pound stone when the body was dumped into the lake. No exact time of death has been determined but authorities believe the woman may have been in the lake since last September."

I can't figure out whether there was a second autopsy done or if the victim's estimated age was reported incorrectly in one of the two news articles shown below. I suppose her est age shown on the NamUs profile would be the most "official" estimate.

NY - NY - Patricia Laemmerhirt, 27, Westfield, 3 Apr 1976

Patricia Laemmerhirt was 27-yo when she went missing. Her date of last contact in NamUs is Apr 3, 1976 though I don't quite trust the accuracy of that date considering her husband is the person who saw her last. JD was discovered on 16 Apr with an estimated PMI of 3 weeks. Patricia's height and weight pretty much match JD's estimates. Westfield, NY is approx 6 hours drive from Warwick, NY, where JD's remains were located. There must be a good reason LE hasn't done a comparison, right?

BROTHER DIGS IN, SEEKING CLUES TO WOMAN MISSING SINCE '76
The story of Mrs. Laemmerhirt's disappearance begins in March 1976, just a few weeks before she was last seen. Here is Sam's version of what happened: His sister called him and said she and her husband, Ernest Laemmerhirt Jr., were having marital problems, "and she couldn't take it anymore." He picked her up and took her to their mother's home in Dunkirk. She later returned to her husband and children in Westfield. On April 5, 1976 -- a Monday -- Laemmerhirt called, asking about his wife, who, he claimed, had left home the previous Friday, Sam says.

The body was discovered in 20 feet of water off Sterling Forest beach on the east side of the lake.

[...]

Orange County Coroner John J. Grecco, who performed the autopsy, said the body had been in the water from two to three weeks. A large hole in the left side of the chest was originally believed to have been caused by a gunshot wound, but turned out to have been the result of decay.
