UPDATE: Springfield missing children case does not meet Amber Alert criteria

Springfield police contacted the state patrol to have a statewide alert issued. The state patrol, which determines when a statewide alert is issued, determined there was no specific or imminent threat to the children, Pasqualetti said.

Troopers are patrolling the Springfield and Clark County areas, he said.

Meantime, the Springfield Police Division has issued the following information about the missing children they said were abducted Tuesday afternoon by their non-custodial parent, identified as Khadejha Emony Coran, 22.

Police said children services removed them from her custody and she went to where they had been relocated and took them.

Police don’t know Coran’s whereabouts or her destination.

Coran, who is black, is 5-foot-6 and 200 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

She is believed to b driving a four-door, light green 2007 Ford Focus bearing Ohio license plate HRE 8196.

The missing children are:

Kaiden Coran, 4 years old. He is 4-foot-1 and 40 pounds.

Brailynn Coran, 8 months. He is about 30 inches tall and 20 pounds. (Police identified this child earlier as a female).

I always hope in these cases that it's just a non-custodial parent missing their children and taking them to spend time with them, but sadly it's not generally the case. The fact that they were removed due to child abuse is frightening, I hope they find these babies unharmed soon.

According to police:

  • Kaiden Coran and Brailynn Coran-White were found safe, police said at 12:18 a.m.
  • Their mother, Khadejha Coran, was not with them and police are looking for her
  • She lost custody at a Clark County Children Services hearing Tuesday afternoon
  • She went to two daycare facilities to get them and was last seen just after 3 p.m.
