Penalty Phase #13

I have to wonder how far and wide the DT spread their net to find legitimate character witnesses for the mitigation phase.

If Darryl Brewer had testified, he would have spoken of the Jodi he claimed he knew, as long as he didn't change any facts from his testimony at trial.

As a retired teacher, I remember that every time a current or former teacher or coach had a student in need of mitigation in a trial, the specialist would interview each and every one of them. Those that had good things to say about a student would get up on the stand and recall the defendant at an earlier time in life. Believe me, teachers get to know the character of their students.

When Jodi was dissing her parents for not supporting her artistic ability, she mentioned a teacher who filled in that gap for her. Where is this teacher, who could independently testify to Jodi's talent in the artistic field? Where is this teacher, who could testify that Jodi's parents never came to her art shows or refused to buy her art supplies? Where is this teacher who bonded with poor Jodi and knew her so well?

And so on. I was asked about a former homeroom student on trial for murder. The poor mitigation specialist went through every teacher the guy ever had and ended up with no witnesses. He was that awful a person, even in high school.

Even Scott Peterson had his golf coach speak at his trial!

My bets for today...some kind of illness, Migraine, puking who knows...Nurmi feels faint, family member wanted to testilie and now need time to prep, more mistrial motions and blah, blah, blah... Not sure what gimmick the Defense will use as they are running out of tricks but if this goes to the Jury today, I will be utterly SHOCKED, SHOCKED I tell ya! Anyone taking wagers? LOL!

Testilie! :D:)

Whatever transpires today.....she will be carted off to jail either way and hopefully we will not see or hear from her again. Though we will be hearing about her for some time to come.

Should be an interesting day.

WILL court start on time...
WILL there even be court at all....
WILL she get on the stand and piss everbody off???

Gonna try to catch some of what is going on when I go home for lunch...if not, will be checking in here as per usual and will catch what I miss on you tube.

Praying this is the end for this family TODAY so they do not have to see the murderer's face up close and personal anymore.

CMJA is not a Multiple Personality Disorder. I know of what I speak. She is a psychopath and BPD. JMO

Preparation H does work on wrinkles. My mother has used it for years and was actually given the tip from a dermatologist. She mixes it with inexpensive facial moisturizer.

littlemisslegal, I don't know and sounds like you have way more experience at seeing it than I do. All I see is a manipulative narcassist. Just Jodi. I thought about the split personality thing a few times but never could quite grasp it with her.

Sybil huh? Sally Fields did such a good job in that movies. That must have been very interesting.

Daryl Brewer wanted to give his testimony about JA not under oath and not with cross examination. So the AZ Republic helped him do just that, at the bidding of Kirk Nurmi. It was a childish stunt, transparent, and will not save her life. It was just a FU to Juan Martinez. A slicker display of the temper tantrum we saw in the courtroom. And wonder exactly when this interview took place? I'm suspecting before court even started yesterday which is why it was all ready to fly yesterday afternoon. Edited and in 4 parts.

Rob;

(Quote function still not working.)

Nurmi and Wilmott both know that JA is going down. They have known since they were appointed, since they first spoke with her. That is why they keep trying to withdraw from the case. JA will agree to nothing, no defense, no plea, only agree to the crock that has happened for the last few months, and not listen to her attorneys.

The attorneys must do what the law requires to protect themselves from her eventual Habeas filing in a few years, and to protect their licenses to practice. That is why all the Motions for whatever the flavor of the day. Nurmi and Wilmott have to protect themselves in addition to the hardheaded client, as best they know how.

Kentjbkent, you may be right. If she feels she is winning in her warped way of justifying things in her mind, and, if she thinks it will mean more delays.
I'm not sure it's a matter of JA winning or not winning... IMO it's a matter of CONTROL.. hers.

:seeya:

Good morning, fine folks!!

What are the odds we'll actually get somewhere today?

I really dread hearing JA flap her jaw all the livelong day.

OT: I forgot to put on deodorant today. :D

In one of the Jodi interrogation tapes, Jodi tells Flores how horrible she felt because she kicked a dog once. I've read since that the dog never returned & there's rumor she may have killed the dog. I believe Jodi was a freshman in HS when this occurred. Anyone have the facts on this, and did it come up in trial anywhere (just that she kicked the dog)? Then this morning I read on this thread (dozens of pages ago) that someone posted a link to an attorney expert who said something to the effect of: "If you can convince a jury that a defendant abused a dog or a horse, you can convince them to give the death penalty." VERY interesting stuff.

Well I have been lloking for a wrinkle cream. Purchased a store brand oand omg it nearly burned my face off and made my skin peel. I by the way do not have sensitive skin.

Looks like I will be buying some hemmoroid cream this weekend!!!! I love WS for many different reasons!

I see no reason not to believe Brewer--that Jodi was normal through their relationship. Maybe she had matured, having gotten with a more stable guy than men like BJ and MM. He says that she started changing right before his eyes, and connects it with the PPL/Mormon/The Secret stuff. Also IIRC Jodi's parents were also saying how much she had changed in the last year or two.

From what I recall of Borderlines, it starts showing up in the earlier years. The bad stuff we hear about her earlier years would probably be looked at much more 'benignly' if she didn't go on to murder someone.

So, just maybe she really didn't start developing a serious problem until summer of '06. If so, what happened to her??
I don't knooooooow.. remember her mother in her interview with Det. Flores saying how weird JA was... that she would not let her mother visit her is Palm Desert because she thought she would snoop through her stuff?? What ever her issues, IMO, she has always had them... as she got older, these issues became more severe... AND, as we are seeing now, she has become almost delusional at times and much more manipulative.

by Truth Detector: If she is not executed soon, Jodi Ann Arias will kill again.
It is a matter only of time with this one.
With all due respect this is simply not going to happen. She's been in jail for almost 5 yrs. Who has she killed behind bars? (answer: no one). She'll be in an even more restrictive prison when this trial ends. She'll be segregated for intake and processing for the first month or so. Is there a claim that Perryville does not have the ability to control their inmates and doesn't know how to run a prison to protect guards, other inmates, and the public at large?

KL,
I cannot quote to your post for some reason. The button is not working today. Thank you about the comment above regarding DB. I completely agree. The problem with JA and company, is that NONE of them can stand up to cross because NONE of them are truthful.
This isn't about JM intimidating anyone. The truth intimidates them because they are known liars, drug users, abusers and enablers.

Hey,

Does anyone know if there a link to the trial with closed captioning for the "don't have sound on my compter at work" impaired????

I can't quote a post. It says "Database Error". Is anyone else having the same problem???

Curious in Indiana:
What is great about the Darryl Brewer interview is now the defense cannot use him as a reason for appeal. They cannot go before a judge ever and say they had no witnesses. He clearly stated he was sitting there in the hotel room paid for by the people of Arizona, waiting for the defense to call him. He stated they, the defense team (i.e., people of Arizona) flew him to Arizona for that sole purpose. He stated he wouldn't want to be a juror in this case, leaving the idea he knows she is guilty. Any prosecution attorneys would be all over him after this interview.

Wait, what? There was a DB interview?? Where? I wanna see!!!

Steely - thank you for the thought provoking question. It is almost as significant as does JA want life or the DP. ((( )))

Glad you are here Steely!
